Sharper Impressions Painting of Portland, LLC.

Beware of this company. Honestly, everything started out ok on this job but towards the end it got really weird. The weather was getting bad and the painter wanted to stop and come back and finish up anything in the spring that needed touch ups. There was already some bubbling going on on certain parts of the house. I was promised by the painter and his foreman that one day in the Spring they would come out no problem. I mean i do have a contract and a 3 year warranty. The last day off the job which was mostly gathering their equipment and cleaning out my garage where they worked for a month, the painter approached me and said Sharper Impressions was not paying him what they promised and asked me to pick up the difference. I told him my contract was with Sharper Impressions, not him but I would call his foreman and see what was up. He sounded desperate. He had really worked hard. I called the local foreman and he never called me back after 3 calls. I finally called the company headquarters because I was worried for the painter but also worried if he wasn't getting paid, then he wouldn't want to come back and finish up. I was told that the foreman had been fired by the owner of the company Geoff Sharp. Mr Sharp also promised me that they would come finish up in the Spring no problem and not too worry. I have now been calling for a month and getting no response or call back whatsoever. I have a contract that guarantees the work for 3 years and they never even finished and part of it is bubbling and needs repairing. They are obviously trying to get out of repairing any work and avoiding me at this point. They have basically stolen money from me. I have contacted a lawyer and intend to take it as far as I can based solely on principal if nothing else. They are a SHADY company. I now have been finding many other reviews were people are having similar problems. They will probably be out of business soon which is fine by me. Go elsewhere for your painting needs.

Sharper Impressions painting looked great on paper, but I would not use them again. I liked that they didn't take a deposit and seemed organized, but it was anything but.

From the first time Steve came to give us a quote, he was an hour late (should have been a red flag). However, all seemed well and it was a good price, so we went with them. We had all of the work set up to be done on a weekend that we would be out of town. Steve told us that they may still have to do some tweaks on Monday, but that most of the work would be done Sat. and Sun. When we returned home late Sunday evening and opened the door, not a single thing had been done. In fact, nobody had even been at the house. We immediately called Steve and asked what had happened and he said he was about to text us (which we didn't believe) and that the painter had a family emergency and wasn't able to get started. We expressed to him that we understood things happen, but that someone should have called to tell us that no work was getting done. He apologized and said they would get it done as soon as possible.

In the next week or so, they did get the job done, but it took almost 6 days (from an original estimate of 2-3 days). And, they even messed up the paint color, then asked us if we "could live with it." I told them that no, we could not live with it, as it was not what we wanted. By the end of it all, we were just happy to have them out of our house and be done with them. The paint job itself is good and we are happy with it, but it was not worth all of the hassle and I will not use them again under any circumstance.

Sharper Impressions were the worst contractors I have ever encountered in my life. They were unprofessional, bad painters, and did not know what they were doing. They yelled at each other and yelled at me and whistled at girls as they walked by. They wrecked plants and concrete, my house was in worse shape when they left than before they came. I did not end up paying them the full amount because I made a list about a page long that they messed up and the owner conceded that they did all of those things.

 The quote came in a couple hundred dollars less (after a 25% discount) than a highly rated Angie's List company. So I decided to go with this company.  Also, they don't require a deposit.  Payment was made after the work is done.  I signed the contract and on the contract I had specify the date that I would like to start the project, which was two weeks later.  Steve, the project manager, called and confirmed that everything was set.  A week later, I got a call from Steve saying that my project was set for July 1, a week after the date I had specified.  I called Steve back and asked why the date changed.  I never heard back.  I decided to let it go and re-arrange the schedule for the new date.  As July 1 approached, I called Steve again to confirm the date and hoping if it would be possible to start a few days earlier because I didn't want the house to be a mess for the 4th of July weekend.  At first, he sounded uncertain, but he didn't want to admit it.  Then he said that because the weather forcast for the next couple days was rain, that he can fit me in to start on the interior painting.  This is when I found out that Sharper Impression contracts out all the paint job.  I was surprised that the painter showed up on time.  But he worked for about two hours and then left.  The next day, two came to do the job.  But by end of the day, only one room was done.  There was still the family room, kitchen, entry way, and stair way to do.  They were supposed to finish or be mostly finished in two days.  But it wasn't even half finished.  And they were off to do other jobs.  So for the next 5 days, which included 4th of July, the paint job was not done and with everything was moved and we had to work around the moved furnitures.  It was extremely an inconvenient. 

The next week, Steve brought in Amado and his crew.  It is Amado that saved me from giving Sharper Image an F rating.  Amado and his crew finished the interior in two and a half days.  He cleaned up some the the mistakes that the first crew made.  He clean up after the job was done (but only the portion that he worked on.)  There was a staind that was left by the first crew and he didn't clean it up.  Steve eventually had to come in to clean up that stain. 

The exterior paint job wasn't completed as timely, partly due to weather and partly due to conflict of schedule with other pain jobs scheduled. 

I would not use Sharper Impression again, but I would use Amado again.  He was really nice, good nature, trustworthy, and very good with the paint and details. 

Quite well. Very responsive on getting the proposal. Scheduling for the work was more of a challenge as our interior job was moved around as they were getting other exterior jobs completed.

I would highly recommend Sharper Impressions to paint your home. Our foreman Chris and his helper did an amazing job and were extremely conscientious, to the point that they even wrapped trees and shrubs to ensure that there would be no paint splatter on them! They spent a lot of time and energy prepping the house and worked under not the best of situations weather wise and worked on Saturdays to ensure that the job was done right! We had a challenge finding the right color to paint our home and Chris was very helpful in making the decision. Steve was by every day of the job to check in with me and his team to ensure total job satisfaction.
