Services we don't offer
We are not a landscape company. We work on trees only. (no lawn mowing etc)
The tree was pruned efficiently. My only complaint is that the large limbs when cut, were thrown down on my driveway which has pavers pushing them deeper into the foundation creating some unevenness of the terrain. I think they should be a bit more cautious in that way as the limbs are very heavy and could have cracked the pavers.
Description of Work: I had a large tree pruned that was in my neighbor's yard but over my garage. They removed 3-4 limbs with some general pruning. Overall, the tree was pruned well. My low review is based on punctuality, the competence of their office staff, and not listening to my wishes. I first called to schedule an estimate. The arborist never arrived on the scheduled time and I had to call to remind them. Despite that, I still used them. The receptionist whom I talked to when I called to schedule an appointmetn was supposed to call me back the same day to give me a date for work. I had specifically requested a specific day of the week only. I never heard from her. I called back the next day and she had put me on a day that I had already told her was unavailable to me. Then the crew was scheduled to show up on 4/11. I was given a time frame of arrival. They did not arrive during those hours. When I talked to the receptionist, who sounded like the one above, she told me she would get back to me to see where they were in their day. I never heard back from her. The crew ultimately showed early evening. I had not received a final invoice after the work was done so about a week after the job was complete, I called to pay. The same female receptionist picked up, I gave her my credit card #, and had to correct the total amount as she was about to charge me $50 more than the original estimate. She asked if I wanted an e-mailed receipt, I said yes, and as is what seems to be the trend; I never received it. I spoke to Mark to get a receipt and he had actually charged me $475 which was the wrong amount. He e-mailed me an invoice on 5/2/13 and said he would mail me a $50 check in the mail. As I was examining my credit card statement, I also then saw a charge from NW tree for $425 the original amount on 4/30/13 which probably happened when I had talked to the female receptionist. I sent out a total of 3 e-mails regarding all the above subjects and never received a reply. I had to call on 5/6/13 to talk to Mark again who refunded the credit card for the 2nd charge minus the $50 he had mailed. I asked for an invoice with the right amount to be mailed/e-mailed to me since I am splitting the cost with my neighbor. I have not received this yet. So, the short of it all to this long story is that they have very poor communication and do not appear to have things in order in their office. I have had to be on top of things and still find this very frustrating. Although their price is competitive, I don't think I will use them again.

Overall, it went well. The tree was cut down, the trunk and large branches left for firewood and the smaller branches chipped and left on our property for our use. I did have to call them to remind them I also wanted the stump ground. The only problem was that I was told they had a stump grinder that could fit through our gate, but when the stump grinder came, without notice, his grinder was too large to get into our yard. It took another week to get someone else here to do the job. But it got done and they cleaned up after the job was done.

After worrying over it for a long time about this 4 foot diameter tree, I call NW Tree Specialist for a quote. They came out the next day and gave me a quote. It was a difficult removal due to other trees and the proximity of the pump house. They were out in 2 days on time and felled the tree with no mishaps. Except the crew fell the tree in road down to my pump house. Since that is my access to my pump house I called Chris and they cut and moved it off the road later that week. After seeing the amount of rot the middle of the trunk I am very please it is down.

We received the quote on the same day that we called to request one. Trevor came and was very informative and professional. The quote was very fair and we were basically sold, but decided to go ahead and get another quote for comparison. Trevor even gave a quote to 2 of our neighbors. We booked NW Tree but had a specific deadline that had to be met. Our neighbors also hired them. All was good, going smooth until we tried to contact Trevor about a week before our appointment. My husband left 2 messages and never heard back so I called the main office and conveyed our concerns to Katrina. She was not informed about the specifics of our agreement from Trevor. Katrina did however assure me that all would be done. There were a few more phone calls because our neighbors were not being contacted directly. I am very happy with the work that was done here and I will definitely hire them again and will also recommend them to others. Trevor is a great guy and I have no issues other than his not returning calls in a timely manner and the excuse after the fact that he was out of town. I might not have had to worry so much accept that we did have a definite deadline and if we hadn't been as involved as we were, that deadline would not have been met.

Northwest Tree Service came out and gave me a quote on the service needed. The individual, Chris Young, was VERY professional and I enjoyed my conversation with him about what was to be done. After compiling the quotes I received NW tree was right in the middle, 3 of 5, but much more reasonable then the 2 highest. I elected to go with the #2 lowest quote but had to really flip a coin between who I went with and NW Tree. If I'm asked by associates or neighbors if I know anyone that does this service I would have NO problem in giving them NW Tree as someone to call.

Overall it went well. The tree was quite large and messy, so we wanted to replace it with something nicer. (I did not use NW Tree for the stump grinding as they told me they did not have the ability to clean up the chips, and I found another company that did.) Other than that, they did a good job, and cleaned up all the branches and mess. NW Tree Specialists have always done good work for us, and I would hire them again for any pruning work or removals. They are very good at their work and know what they are doing.

I needed to have a tree looked at to see if we could save it -- it was leaning and the root ball needed to be reduced to build a retaining wall. They were able to set up an appointment for the next day (on a Saturday none the less!). Chris Y. showed up to our house and diagnosed the issue immediately. Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do to save our trees, but he helped us realize what we had to do to move forward. Wil have them back when we are ready to remove the dying trees with out a doubt. Chris charged us nothing for his time. Thanks Chris!

A friend told me about a good experience with the company. I checked them out on angies list and bbb. Great ratings. They responded to my e mail the next business day. Two days later went to Forest Grove and made a bid. Bid was competitive. One week later on a fairly calm January day they took the trees down. One tree had three tops and the trunk was about 3 inches from the fence. They brought the trees down, cut the wood into firewood lengths per our option, and cleaned up all the debris that was not usable as firewood. Temporarily removed a section of fence to get the chipper in and replaced it exactly as before. Fast fair efficient and professional. I will probably have more work for them in the future.

I've had two jobs completed by NW Tree Specialists and I like the work they did. I would use them again, but my only complaint is the time it took to do my second job. I wanted them to come out and trim 4 trees, but it took them over a month from the estimate to complete the work. They were suppose to call me and schedule the trimming, but I never received a call, I had to call in myself after 2 weeks of waiting to hear that the job was schedule and was going to be performed the coming week. Then the appointment came and went with out any work being done. I called in around 5 pm to find out that they couldn't make it out and were going to have to reschedule. They moved the appointment out a week or two, I can't quite remember, but then again they failed to make it out and had to rescheduled to the next day. Finally they came and performed the job. It took over a month and two reschedules to trim four small trees. I like working with them, I just wish they would work on their communication and punctuality.

I had Northwest Tree Specialist out for an estimate of removal of 40+ fr. cedar last Spring (I wanted an established company since in the he past had used a couple of brothers with a chainsaw and truck - when knew chance of problems were slim). We also used them for tea a natural tea fertilizer treatment in early Summer- which was great and highly recommend for the price. The estimate and treatment were done in a timely manner . They were happy to schedule the removal but I had to cancel a couple times since work got the priority of staying home to monitor. We were nervous about the removal since it was close to a neighbor's house and fence. Once we got the call that landscapers were able to start to on our backyard later the next week, I called to schedule the removal. They fit me in on a Friday afternoon, although I wasn't going to be in town, I agreed. They reassured me that they had done this many and were confident in their crew's capabilities. The next afternoon I got a call from the salesman that the neighbor's house was hit, but didn't know the extent of the damage- since he was also out of town. His crew couldn't get a hold of the neighbors since they weren't home.. This salesman sounded very irritated with me that I was worried about the damage. I think everything could have been handled smoother if someone with knowledge of the damage could have contacted me. When I got back in town on Sunday, I noticed that the neighbor's gutters were bent on two sides of the house. I called the salesman and spoke with the office on Monday (I think there were 4-5 combination of texts/calls/voicemails/phone calls). He eventually left me a message to never contact him or his office ever again since each contact cost him $50 and they would handle getting the neighbor's house fixed. Eventually after me noticing nothing was getting done on the neighbor's house, I provided contact info to neighbor about the company and several weeks past when the gutters were fixed. This company could have been more proactive in getting the repair moving along. We didn't pay our invoice until the repairs were done and the neighbor was satisfied. The tree trunk was left in large chucks and could have been cut in pieces half the size to be manageable to move.

Trevor came out to give us a quote for quite a bit of tree pruning on our property. He was extremely professional, seemed very knowledgeable, and I would enjoy working with him. We got several different quotes and his prices were reasonable. We ended up delaying the work after receiving several quotes, simply due to cost. However, I anticipate hiring someone and we will likely go with Trevor.

My experience with everyone at Northwest Tree Specialist was outstanding. The project started with Tom Morton, Certified Arborist coming to our home to give me an estimate to remove the maple tree and make specific recommendations on pruning two other trees in our yard. Tom was friendly, professional and very knowledgable about how we should prune two of our trees. In addition, Tom spent time helping us understand how we might address other concerns in our yard. He gave me a very competitive price for the work. Next we had the pleasure of working with the Northwest Tree Specialist crew that performed our work. Our crew was lead by Kelly who was very friendly, professional and responsive to all of my many request I made during the project. I was impressed with how they were able to remove a very large limb hanging over in my neighbors yard with minimal access to their yard. In addition, they did great job cleaning up all of the leaves that fail during the removal process. After pruning my two trees, they quickly removed my large maple tree and did a outstanding job of removing all the debris. All of this work was completed in two hours. I will use them again for future projects.

The service provided by Northwest Tree Specialists is absolutely superior! All interactions were professional, work was completed on time and exactly as was discussed. There was follow-up to insure I was totally satisfied. I wish all service providers were this fantastic. To top all that-out of the four quotes I received for the work I needed done (all of which were highest ranked on yelp/angie's) NTS was actually the least expensive! I would recommend them to everyone. Save yourself the hassle of multiple bids-I don't think you can expect better than NTS.
