First, let me say that the people who actually do the cleaning are very good, and very thorough. I could not ask for better service. When it comes to the administration, scheduling, etc., however, I have rarely dealt with anyone before who is so exasperating. The manager has been told many times that punctuality is very important, and that if they are going to be late for any reason, he needs to let me know (they have a three-hour window in which they are supposed to arrive). He NEVER does this. Furthermore, when they haven't shown up by the agreed-upon time, and I try to call to find out when they will be arriving, I almost always get the voice mail. When I leave messages, they don't get returned. Several times I have asked for a one-day only modification to the schedule, or to the services, only to discover later that they had been logged as permanent changes. It has usually taken multiple phone calls to get this corrected.
I have been reluctant to change providers because the workers are so good, and so nice. I really hate to punish them for their manager's behavior.

I plan on signing up with them on a regular basis. They were very nice and really did a good job. They were very efficient and did a very focused job. I felt that they used their time wisely and I was really happy with how things looked when they left.

They are very good. It seems to be a good price. We like them really well and that is why we have been using them for the past few years.

They didn't thoroughly clean floors (mopped across the grain on my hardwood floors and left mop marks, never cleaned up hard to clean spots), never moved furtniture (even if it was a "deep" clean area), appeared to deep clean the smaller areas (hallway, small bath) more often than large areas (i.e. kitchen), kitchen chandelier was NEVER cleaned. I once placed a piece of paper next to a chair to see if they cleaned it. That piece of paper was there for two months. I will say that when I complained to the office manager, he visited my home and took care of the problem. When friends ask me my experience, I have to tell them that they did an average cleaning job. They were always in a hurry to get to the next house. I've had house clearners in other cities, and my experience was much better than with Merry Maids.

Hired to clean house every 2 weeks, only parts due to cost. Used 2 yrs, only because too busy to find replacement. Personnel pleasant. Flexible about coming at different times on scheduled day, although occasionally came very late. Apparently non-regular customers took precedence. Quality of cleaning fair to mediocre, depending on cleaners. Didn't clean everything stated in brochure. Complained several times but didn't improve. Floor cleaning meant spending a few minutes swishing a wet mop. Dusted only what was immediately visible; left crumbs on counters, dust on light fixtures, dirty refrigerator not touched. Didn't move small appliances or furniture, even chairs-e.g. after we moved bar stools there'd be wet dust squares from where they mopped around legs. Several times dumped garbage on driveway or in landscape bin; garbage ended up all over driveway; kept having to remind them not to. Last straw was toilet left dirty, barely swished. Now looking for replacement in Angie's List.

The second review above describes it perfectly. For the most part the work was fair. They get the big stuff, but there's little attention to detail. As others have said, it depends on who's doing the cleaning as to how well it's done. That said every worker I met was pleasant, punctual, and courteous. I wish I could give them higher marks, but the quality is only medium.

WORKERS WERE ALWAYS NEAT, COURTEOUS, AND USUALLY PROMPT. THEY WORKED WITH MY SCHEDULE, AND COULD MAKE CHANGES, SOMETIMES WITH SHORT NOTICE. CLEANING WAS SPOTTY HOWEVER, WITH CERTAIN WORKERS CLEANING MORE THOROUGHLY THAN OTHERS. HARDWOOD FLOORS WERE NEVER CLEANED TO MY SATISFACTION, EVEN WHEN I LEFT NOTES TO CLEAN THEM BETTER (WE HAD ONGOING SERVICE FOR 1 YEAR). HORIZONTAL SURFACES WERE CLEANED WELL, BUT OBJECTS ON SURFACES WERE RARELY (IF EVER) DUSTED. KITCHEN CABINET FACES WERE RARELY THOROUGHLY CLEANED. BATHROOMS WERE RARELY CLEANED TO MY STANDARDS, ESPECIALLY FLOORS AND TUB SURROUNDS. I OFTEN CLEANED AFTER THEY LEFT, ESPECIALLY HARDWOOD FLOORS, and DUSTING OF SOME OBJECTS. I'M A STICKLER FOR CLEANLINESS, SO I HAVE TO SAY I'M A TOUGH CUSTOMER. HOWEVER, I EXPECT A CLEANING SERVICE TO KNOW HOW TO CLEAN. OVERALL, I'D GIVE MERRY MAIDS A FAIR TO GOOD RATING. GOOD ONLY DUE TO THEIR COURTESY, PROMPTNESS, AND WILLINGNESS TO WORK WITH MY SCHEDULE. THEIR SERVICE PEOPLE WERE VERY NICE.

SOME OF THEIR WORKERS ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS. THEY ARE NOT ALWAYS RESPONSIVE TO CHANGING DAYS LIKE IF I NEED THEM TO COME ON A FRIDAY INSTEAD OF A WEDNESDAY. IN GENERAL THEIR SERVICE IS FINE BUT I WOULDN'T SAY OUTSTANDING.
