I have heard this company used to be a very solid company for a long time. Apparently things have gone downhill. After I sent the information they needed to obtain a permit for the asbestos removal, I asked to schedule a date to have the work done. I received no reply. Six days later, I sent a followup message, asking if we could schedule a date. Again no reply. I was therefore very surprised to receive a call a few days later, that the workers were already at my condo, on a day when I was out of town, and they couldn't do the work, because there was furniture still in the rooms. Maybe I should have known that I needed to remove the furniture, but I was never told this, either on the phone or in the quote they sent. And in any case, I had no way of knowing what day they were coming, since they didn't reply to my messages. I was given a choice: either they not do the work, and I pay for the workers' wasted travel time (my condo was a 3-hour round trip from their office), or I pay them $450 to move the furniture. No explanation why it would cost $450 to move the furniture from two small bedrooms into an adjacent room, but I basically had no choice. Afterwards, I explained that it was not fair for them to charge me for this furniture removal, when it was their own fault: they never told me the furniture needed to be removed, or even when they were coming. Their response? Pay up. The work itself seems to have been completed well. My issues are with the lack of communication, the surly tone of the office staff, and the extortive practices.

They quoted a price without seeing the space and based on a verbal description. This was a little scary because the price was about 30% less than other bids. The 2 BR 1 bath condo was not yet occupied so there were not a lot of belongings to work around. Crew started on a Friday and thought they could finish in one day. They were unable to finish on Friday but came back on Saturday morning and completed the work. It may have been helpful to have met an estimator as preparation instructions were spare. The crew had to remove sliding door track hardware that we had not known would need to be removed. The building has concrete ceilings so the removal of the hardware and of the popcorn finish did not damage the material. The result was a clean ceiling that is free of all popcorn material. The price we were invoiced was the price quoted.

I hired these guys to remove the popcorn ceiling. They did the job the right way and by code, so I paid for premium service. They had a scientist come to check the air quality when finished. It took two days. They were clean and respectable guys. I had a good interaction with the project manager. It was pricey but I have peace of mind knowing asbestos isn't floating over my kids heads anymore. If you want popcorn removed from your ceiling I would get a bid from these guys. I don't know of another company that does it by the book like this. They are contracted with the public schools to remove this stuff, so you know they are at the top in this specific service.

First, he was so late (10:05am)  I could not meet with him personally because I was on my phone conference that I explained ahead of time that I had to be at.  He met with my wife, took samples, measured the house and left. Then, he never called back or sent in estimate.  He was supposed to test for asbestos, then estimate the abatement. I finally called back on 2/26 and was told I would get a call back about the matter.  I did NOT get a call back and I did not ever get an estimate or a test result.

Don't use this company, they are unprofessional. I don't know how they got an A rating in Asbestos abatement.

Because of how it was cased, it was not very toxic. They still vacuum sealed and properly removed it. They provided us certification as well. They were very timely with the process and it was completed within half of a morning. The customer service of the technician who came was great! He ensured that everything was explained clearly to me. He was very nice, professional, and had a great nature. They offered the most affordable rates. We would certainly use them again.

IRS Environmental workers completed the stabilization and encapsulation of the asbestos tape that covers the furnace ducts. The workers were very professional, efficient, and completed the work in a timely manner.
The work is excellent. The cost of the work included all permits, fees, disposal, and air monitoring required by state and federal agencies. We will definitely use IRS Environmental again.

Work went quickly and plaster was not damaged. They were more expensive than the firm that previously had done the rest of the house, but they didn't damage our floors like the other firm had so it was worth it.

I had questions about how to address the plaster walls in my daughter's room, which contain asbestos. IRS came out and advised me on steps to take, which generally were that I did not need to mitigate the situation at this time-i.e. I did not need their services. I felt confident they knew what they were talking about, and that if I ever needed further service from them, that they would do a quality job. If that time arises, I plan to use IRS.

They arrived very promptly at 8:00. We weren't quite ready for them as we had to get our kid to day camp and do a few things in the bathroom next to the room they would be working on. They very politely waited a few minutes for us to get organized.

They sealed off that end of the house and went to work. They left the room very clean with only the subfloor, which did not have contact with the linoleum, left behind.

A 3rd party came in to test the air after they were finished.

They were responsive when I called, and professional. No complaints.

I chose IRS Environmental because a work colleague had used them, and they had the best bid as well. Bob Gordon was very helpful and clear over the phone. Showed up in the morning and got right to work taping plastic up. We were able to enter and leave the house at different times because the kitchen was completely sealed off the whole time. It took them about 3 hours or so to get all the flooring up. The inspection was probably about an hour. They then hauled away all of the materials and we'll be receiving a bill by the end of the month.

Our dishwasher flooded the kitchen when the intake valve failed. The insurance company adjuster came. He recommended IRS Abatement. They came exactly on schedule, used the masks and fans required for asbestos, and removed the offending material. They applied tape to the walls to hold plastic sheeting. The tape pulled paint off the wall. The workers left one sealed bag in our driveway. We didn't know if it was contaminated material or not. they came and removed it.

There are not enough words to express how impressive IRS Environmental was throughout our transaction. Called in the midst of an already stressful whole home remodel, they were responsive, punctual, courteous, knowledgeable, professional, and personable. Their sampling informed us of asbestos-containing materials that we were not aware of, testing results were returned within a reasonable timeframe, and their willingness to work and (repeatedly) re-work a bid to adjust to our budget--including informing us of coupon discounts available--and ever-changing scope of work was a phenomenal experience from beginning to end. When the scope of work was finalized and a contract signed, they performed the abatement within 48 hours.

Worthy of particular recognition was Bob Gordon, Safety Manager for IRS Environmental, who was my sole contact throughout our transaction. He exceeded all of my expectations for his level of professionalism, responsiveness, punctuality, and respect for both my envirionmental and budget concerns. His communication and desire to allay fear while educating us about asbestos is what has set him and IRS Envirionmental apart from every other like company in the Portland Metro area. He and the company have my highest regards. And knowing that they offer more services beyond asbestos removal, I will not hesitate to contact them--and only them--if the need ever arises.

Company was here promptly. Explained procedure to me. Went straight to assigned work. Proffessional attitude answered any question I had about work and disposal of tile and flooring. Taped off work area no damage to any walls or cabinets. After finishing with air quality testing they showed all work completed and clean. Would reccommend to anybody!
