I would give Dependable a "97%" on accuracy of siding cuts, caulking, precision of painting, care of my property. That's the score I'd give them on their own. I wanted 100%. It took my attention to achieve that, but they were thoroughly responsive to the very minor flaws, oversights that i occasionally found. They went over and above handling some peculiarities of my job. The crew worked hard, steadily, safely, and as a team. There was some minor accidental damage which given the scale and duration of the job would have been hard to avoid. I experienced astonishing responsiveness - from when I signed the contract, the siding was delivered and the crew started work <24hrs! Fast cleanup, well-done. Foreman came out aft crew left to attend to minor repairs. Highly satisfied.

The work that was done was reasonably well done. We learned to get EVERYTHING in writing. This company is very flaky. They did what was promised in writing, but nothing that was promised verbally. They tried to get away with not even powerwashing as promised in writing. They left a mess most days and when they finally "completed" the job. Work that was promised (not in writing) to take a couple of weeks wound up taking nearly three months. The owner is unresponsive and his crews show up randomly. Finish work is mediocre to sloppy. I would never consider using them again. The house painting was finished in November 2006, and I have begun patching spots that have started peeling due to substandard preparation.

Major Problems. They removed old siding leaving the attic open overnight allowing wind and rain in. Insulation blew out and "snowed" on our yard. Same thing happened a day later at the other end of the house even after I told them to cover the hole this time. They only covered half. They caused plaster damage inside the house. I fixed most myself, but asked them to fix one large spot. This required 4 phone calls to get done. They left hundreds, possibly a thousand nails in my yard. Finally, they sent a bill that was $970 higher than the original contract saying that sales tax had not been in included. I asked about tax in the beginning, but didn't get an answer then and don't recall ever getting one (he says he called back later saying it would be extra). The original contract only had 2 lines of itemized costs then concluded with "Total Cost for the Job..." which is the amount I expected to pay. In the end I paid what I signed for, not the extra $970. The siding and the paint look OK.

The work was completed, however there were quite a few snags along the way. First, we discussed the specific brand of windows we wanted, however when they arrived they were a different brand than what we agreed on with a different warranty. We had to constantly call to find where the workers were, as they did not show up on several occasions when they were supposed to. Several windows were missing and two of the custom made windows were measured incorrectly so they did not fit. It took three months to get the windows installed, a project we were told would take three days. Many of the things we were promised were not lived up to, but these were not items we put on paper so it is partly our fault. However, we learned that we cannot trust them to do what they say, and we had to nag them constantly to get the final paperwork, this company is very unorganized. The roof installation was great, but it was subcontracted. The painting was OK, but they destroyed our garden in doing so.

REQUIRE CONSTANT SUPERVISION, POOR COMMUNICATION BETWEEN MANAGERS, AND WORK CREWS. CRAFTSMANSHIP OFTEN BELOW AVERAGE. WILL NEVER HIRE THEM AGAIN.

THE OVERALL THE COMPANY CAME TO DO, MY BASEMENT, IS JUST OK BECAUSE THIS IS BIG PROJECT TOO. I AM MORE EXPECT THEY CAN DO BETTER WHAT THEY DID, BUT TURN OUT NOT AS NEAT AS I THOUGHT.
