They did a good job on the restretch, but were not so good at contacting me to confirm the service date or showing up at the scheduled time. It seemed pretty costly for the ten minutes they spent completing the work.
I probably would use this company again because overall I was pleased with the original installation.
1. Installer did not stretch the carpet correctly and it’s bunching up—“rucking”.
2. There are gaps where the installer didn’t put carpet pad so there’s nothing between the carpet and the floor.
Also when the carpet was first installed, the installer left gaps between the carpet and baseboard.
As he was leaving, he told us to fill them in with quarter round. Abbey Carpet did offer to send him back and have him take the baseboard off and lower it. We didn’t have that done because we would have had to repair and repaint
the wall areas involved.
I was slightly dubious about using a flooring/counter top company that I'd not heard of, but they were excellent. I think this company is one that contractors like to use.
cabinets built by a local cabinet shop. We had ordered vinyl laminate
flooring from and quot;the big orange boxand quot; store. However we found, at the last
minute, that they were unable to provide the flooring we had ordered.
They were also unable to satisfy our needs with another product and we
were dissatisfied with the service at and quot;the big orange boxand quot;.
We then
went down the street to Cudahy Lumber Co. Abby Carpets to see what they
had to offer. The laminate flooring was intended as a temporary
solution and a price saving measure since we had gone over budget on the
cabinets. Our plan was to replace the flooring later with a better
produce.
The sales and installation service at Cudahy Lumber / Abby
was quite satisfactory. The salesman showed us a side selection of
laminate flooring and helped us select a color and type that worked well
for our needs. The installation was done as scheduled and completed
professionally. Also, the cost was less that that quoted by the and quot;big
orange boxand quot;.
All in all we were happy with the experience and have
since replaced that floor with a high quality solid bamboo flooring
which was not available at Cudahy / Abby. We will shop there again when
their products fit our needs.
The installation had unusual problems that had to be solved. It required a visit by a special fix-it guy who had to even out the floor with a belt sander, and the carpet installers had to make three visits. But Liz and Abbey Carpet / Cudahy Lumber stood by their work and got the job done very well.
Decided to go to Abby's Carpet for a estimate. Not only were they very friendly and helpful but Elizabeth Guthrie came right over and measured for me. The estimate I felt was right on so arranged to have the vinyl installed. I was more than pleased with their installers and the sales lady, Liz. They even fixed some areas where my laminate flooring was installed incorrectly. Top-notch job. Thank you, and I would certainly use them again and will.
Our downstairs had a water intrusion. Part of the carpet in the large downstairs room had to be cut away and thrown out. We decided to use tile where this piece of carpet had been. To complete the look we wanted we needed an additional strip of carpet between the old carpet, (the part that was not damaged), and the new tile installation. The new strip was needed because we could not exactly match the old carpet. Also, our existing carpet was not flat and needed stretching.
Cudahy Lumber/Abbey Carpet helped us choose the right color from a carpet remnant they had. Their workmen then came out and stretched the existing carpet, cut it perfectly and installed the new remnant strip between the old carpet and the tile.
The whole effect looks very good. The workmanship was excellent. The price included the large remnant carpet from which the strip was cut.
