The representatives at Home Depot were very helpful. They were very knowledgeable and thorough in helping us choose carpet and place an order. We selected a carpet with a 7 business day installation guarantee because we had to have the installation done quickly, but the guarantee was not honored, because of the holidays we were told, even excluding the weekends and the holidays. It was installed a few days late. Home Depot contracts out the installation to other companies and the late installation was a disappointment to us as I had chosen a carpet that was not my first preference but cost the same specifically because of the time guarantee. When I talked with the company who did the scheduling, I didn't get anywhere, so I just had to accept it. The contractors were very professional and efficient. They double-checked with us on everything before beginning work to make sure the job would be done the way we wanted it. They also worked quickly. They did a beautiful job. When they had finished we couldn't have been more happy with the results.
Home Depot sent me regular emails of the progress of my order and when the window came in quickly scheduled the installers. They came and were very pleasant and professional workers. Within about an hour, my new window was installed. It looks beautiful and I appreciated the smooth process from start to finish.
The salesman assured me that they would coordinate everything so that the entire project would only take about a week - maybe 2 at the absolute most. They would arrange for the old base cabinets to be resurfaced, then have the countertop removed and replaced, hook the plumbing back up, then they would come back in and install all the cabinet doors and drawers. That 2 week project that started in March, wasn't completed until September - and the quality of both the backsplash installation and cabinet refacing, are sub-par at best.
Initially the guy installing the doors and drawers blew out the back of every single one while installing the handles. This meant that every single cabinet door had to be replaced, as well as the inside drawer fronts. They readily agreed that these had to be replaced after sending out a manager to take a look at the work, but then they disappeared - for months... So finally, several months later they came out and replaced them. They are a good 2 shades darker now than both the drawer fronts and the base cabinets because they weren't done in the same run. It looks ridiculous. The bottom edges of the cabinets are already starting to splinter and fray. There is one set of cabinet doors that run into each other when you close them. 2 of the drawers don't close correctly. The backsplash looks like I installed it myself with no previous experience.
Every step of the way there were problems. The countertop guys showed up to install the new one - with no indication from home depot that the old one had to be removed or that the plumbing had to be re-hooked up. The backsplash installers showed up having no idea they needed to remove the old one and had to go back to the store twice to pick up materials. They didn't patch where they removed backsplash but didn't put the new one.
I could probably go on and on...
They supposedly have a guarantee, but I was so stressed out by the entire thing I don't want to have to deal with them again.
We have had many bids for windows. We live on a hill and have a mountain view and with that, Old single pain drafty medal windows and there are 4 large picture windows and 12 standard sized windows. AND, the big expense...4 patio doors! So, we hear all of these stories about how peoples houses are being fully re-windowed for $1500 from a few people, $3000, etc...I have found out that these people have standard windows, NO special order sizes, no sliders AND having a buddy install them. Home Depot does not warrantee windows unless their contractors install them too. (We have to go with jeld wen-price point) We want some kind of warrantee from a company that wont be closing any time soon....Somewhere to go if there is a problem. Just my preference.
The install runs a few hundred bucks each window. This becomes expensive FAST! Another issue we had. The person who came to bid did NOT measure any of the windows, he eyeballed them and extimated the size. So there will be multiple people scheduled to come to your house. So, time off work. In my experience after you make an agreement, they send the real measurement person over and this is where things got even more expensive! So, after the bid, the measurement guy comes, then we find out our patio doors are 1.25and quot; smaller then and quot;stockand quot; size. Meaning what they have on the store shelves wont fit perfectly so you must special. They wont add trimming or budge on this whatsoever, I called the sales manager and the installer. Nope, they say I must and quot;special order these.and quot; .The price went from $400 each door to almost $700 each door, NOT counting installation which is $349 plus and quot;add onsand quot; of course. So, bottom line for the patio doors? $400 + another $250 + $349 install....Your $400 door is now close to $1000!!! REALLY!!!??? Yes. Cut back carpet, trim...these things must be done too you know! especially is you get swing doors...another thing you have to wait till the last minute to find out. I have had a horrible experience, many trips many people to my house, time off of work, lots of surprises. I should have went with Royal Exteriors. I now hove my funding tied up with Home Depot with our Loan...
Took about 3 weeks to get the carpet in and installed. Installation service worked very well. The crew was timely and efficient finishing on time. We paid extra to have them move our furniture which was completed w/o issues.
There are a few nails that you can feel when you walk barefoot where the carpet meet the hardwood that we have noticed in the last weeks which is a little annoying and uncomfortable. Would be good to get this fixed if possible.
Overall a good one room carpet experience.
Next step is to order your wood and wait. It took a few weeks to be delivered to my home. You can also have it delivered to Home Depot and pick it up to save some money, but we had it delivered. I was told that once it was delivered from the vendor, that Home Depot would call me to set up installation. I was also told that the wood would need to be in home for a few days first to adjust to climate. When the wood came, the boxes all said and quot;no adjustment period needed.and quot; So I called and after a bit of an exchange, the women from Home Depot said, and quot;oh yeah, that kind doesn't need to sit first.and quot;
The actual installation went great. They sent out a father and son team that did a fantastic job and were very polite and meticulous.
Again, my complaint would only be with the way the ordering process works.
