About us

Ron Tonkin claims he was born with gas in his veins. Because of that passion the Tonkin family has been providing Portland families with cars and trucks for over half a century. Since his start in the car business in 1960 with one Chevy store, the Tonkin family now owns 16 auto dealerships and one exotic Italian motorcycle store. Ron is still quite active in the business, while sons Ed and Brad manage all levels of the corporation. The Tonkins are most certainly known for their "Love of Cars", and also noted for their love of the Portland Metropolitan community. The Kidney Association, Doernbecher Hospital, The Make-a-Wish Foundation, The United Way, Metropolitan Family Service and the Oregon Schools Foundation are but a few of the agencies that have felt the impact of the generous spirit of this family-owned company. The Ron Tonkin Family of Dealerships is Oregon's 21st largest private employer and was voted "One of the Best 100 companies in Oregon to Work For." The sales men were very informative in showing me a vehicle that would be a good fit for what I was looking for. When we got to negotiating a price there were some and quot;hickupsand quot; in the price that we agreed too when it came time to sign papers. I did have to leave the dealership but after filing a complaint with the hire ups of what took place. They did everything they could possibly do to make it right. Allowing me to purchase the car for the price we originally agreed upon leaving me walking away very happy with my purchase.

Mark Cawthorn has always been very helpful to explain a mechanical problem when I needed auto repairs. I didn't think it mattered whether I used the dealership or a quick lube oil change service. Now I know that the oil and filter quality used at the dealership are superior to the ones used at quick lubes. As the prices have risen for quick service, I now get a better value at this Honda dealership service department.
