Did not finish in the time allotted. But the actual move went well. There was no damage to any of my belongings.

Great, very helpful and professional, even helped remove and replace the legs so that the piano would fit around a door into the room. Straightforward fees.

It went well, although I was surprised at how long it took them. I didn't realize they were going to wrap all the furniture pieces, and that was time-consuming. Next month they'll move everything to my new place. They said because I was putting things in storage, the items needed more care and preparation. The price I listed here is for the initial move only. I also have to pay for storage and the second move.

Part went fine, part didn't. 3-man crew was much faster and more efficient than the standard 2. When the estimator came out, I asked if I had to have everything packed. He said no, the crew would finish packing anything that was left. When the crew arrived, they asked why everything wasn't packed. I told them what their company rep had said. Their reply was flatly "We don't do that." They did not check with the boss to see what I might have been told, they simply refused to do the packing. I had to call the office and tell the boss what happened, and then he called the crew. When they came back in after their break, they said that they would in fact finish the packing, and were even bothered that I was doing some of it myself. When they arrived at the new place, they started bringing things in, putting them where I wanted them. When they brought my electronic organ in, attached the pedal board, and plugged it in, I sat down to try it. The keyboards didn't work at all; the pedals stayed stuck on when I released them. I commented on this to the crew member who was standing there. The problem with the organ didn't get written on the manifest, though a bookshelf they damaged was put on. I mentioned getting the organ fixed, that I should do it right away; the crew member said "O that's okay, you have 6 months." I did not contact the moving company about fixing the organ, I just called my organ tech and had him come and fix it. He told me that it definitely was damaged in the move, with more damage than a routine move would cause. When I sent the bill in to Priestley, about 4 months after the move, thinking that was okay, I received a partial payment, and a reply that said, in part, "Was surprised when you didn't call or give us a chance to handle or inspect any damage." Also got a copy of the state tariff laws saying claims had to be filed within 3 months. When I called the company, we were able to work this out amicably, and they sent me the balance of the repair cost.

We've used them for 30 years.  They're always super efficient.  I trust them and they do great work. In the past, they have also moved one upright and two grand pianos for us.  Scheduling is great and they are fast and efficient.  The price was better than anticipated and they did a beautiful job packing the boxes.

They were highly recommended on Angie's List so we went with them. Their intake people were excellent in just getting things into the system quickly. They were on time. Everything went very well. The price was reasonable. They could come out and do the work on a short notice. Everything went according to plan. There were no surprises. They're very punctual. They knew exactly what they were doing. We had some difficult things like a king mattress where we had to move down to the stairway. They got a way to do it and they got it done.

At the end of the day, my husband said, "So, how do you feel about the move?" I said, "Great! How do you feel about it?" "I'm ecstatic," he said. Let me tell you what went right with this move: EVERYTHING!
Friends who used Priestley a couple of years ago recommended them, and I included them on the short list of highly-rated local movers I contacted for estimates. Priestley immediately set themselves apart by being the only company willing to send someone out to do a walk-through of our current home and give us a detailed estimate. It came in $400-500 higher than any other, but I trusted it much more than the others, because they'd had a good look at what we were actually asking them to do. I figured the other guys' estimates could only be low, whereas the Priestly estimate was likely to be on-target. As it turned out, we came in under budget; I think this was partly because when Chris did the walk-through, he pointed out several items that it would be helpful for us to have broken down and ready to haul on the day, and we did them all. Heed your estimator's advice, it will save you time and money!
On the day, the crew showed up right on time, got set up quickly, then took a tour to survey the job. We had Tony, John, and David, and they were all superbly hard-working and conscientous. What a terrific crew! They worked quickly, but with due care for our possessions--none of which are any too precious, but it was nice they approached it as if they were. (People are weird about their stuff, right?) It was a cool morning, thank goodness, but after a couple of hours, they wanted to take a short rest/rehydration break, which Tony was almost apologetic about. He reassured us it would be brief, and wouldn't count against our bill. We appreciated the communication and, again, the conscientous approach to our time and money.
Once the truck was loaded up and over at the new house, Tony took a really smart approach to the unload--we had color-coded boxes by what room they should end up in, so he was in the truck building stacks by color, so the other two guys could just load a dolly, run the whole stack into the right room, drop it off and run back for more. JUST the sort of thing you hope will happen when you bother to color-code your move! This also contributed to the move taking 2 hours fewer than estimated.
I don't know what more to tell you--everything you hope will happen when you hire a moving company, happened. The office staff (when I called to book and they called back a week before the move to re-confirm) were very pleasant. Chris, the estimator (and President of the company, we later found out) was terrific, and very accurate. The crew they sent us were hard-working professionals. The whole thing was done with an absolute minimum of fuss or angst. You might see Priestly costs a teensy bit more than some of the other guys. PAY IT. You'll get service more than commensurate with the cost.
Now, I hope we won't be moving again any time soon, and yet, I'd like to find more reasons to hire Priestley & Sons. I'll guess just have to make sure that anyone who I know who's moving in Portland goes to them. Including you, if you're reading this. Want to be ecstatic at the end of your moving day? Let these guys take care of you!

The team sent by Priestley to move our possessions was top notch. At both the old residence and the new residence they toured the home to "get the lay of the land" and answer our questions and address our concerns. They put down tarps and moving blankets to protect the homes, and they wrapped in blankets or shrink wrapped the furniture to protect it. They moved everything with care. Consequently, there was only one inconsequential breakage. Except for that there was no damage to the furniture or the homes. After the move they again toured the home to ensure that everything had been placed where we wanted.
We were greatly impressed by the professionalism and care exhibited by their estimator, Chris, who gave us the bid, and the team of movers led by Arthur. We highly recommend them and would gladly use them again.

I have used this company twice now, once in 2007 from Olympia to Portland, and recently from Eugene to Portland. The quote given was fair and the office staff were all responsive to my questions. The crew arrived only about 20 minutes later than expected (which is pretty good long distance). The three man crew were all polite, professional, and worked very quickly. I felt comfortable that all my belongings would be well taken care of in the move, and in storage as well. The storage costs are reasonable. There was a misunderstanding for one of the charges on the bill, and although apparently it was my misunderstanding Jonathan offered a solution he felt was the right thing to do. I can't say enough good things about this group.

We used this mover to move us from Fairview to Happy Valley in 2006.  We used them for the heavy things such as beds, china closet, etc.  We had other things all packed and ready to go.  They took lots of care with my china cabinet and none of the glass shelves broke.  They were helpful and appreciated (I think) that we were ready for them. They did a very nice job.

I could not have asked for anything more. It was totally professional from the first inquiry to the estimate to the move. When I requested additional forms for insurance I received a call to make sure I understood what could and could not be insured. The actual movers were conscientious, courteous, and friendly. The move was accomplished in 1/2 hour less than the estimate, so I was certainly not low-balled. I am very pleased and they would have my unconditional recommendation.

We used these guys when we moved locally in 2001 and then again in 2012.  We had a somewhat complicated move both times as we had a houseful and a storage unit full, too.  We did some of the packing and they did the rest.  They loaded up from the house, went to the storage unit and loaded that, too.  Then unloaded both at the new house.
Both the packing and the moving came in below estimated costs.
They took good care of our stuff, packing and hauling and unloading.
They were punctual and got it all done in one day -- on what turned out to be a very hot day.
There were 2 minor damages which their insurance paid off promptly, even though one wasn't covered.
Friendly and easy to work with.  We would definitely use them again.

The team arrived on time, loaded the truck with the items my MIL was taking and with the boxes we'd already packed, unloaded and set up the apartment with under my supervision in half the estimated time. Completely professional, pleasant, polite, and efficient. They added two workers at the unloading end, and the job still came in at just over half the original estimate. They took excellent care of my MIL's possessions. The whole process was practically painless. I wish I'd had the presence of mind to tip them before they left, because the earned it!
