Early in the project we learned that Jeremy Parsons intended to move to San Diego to work with a business partner and he assigned a new manager to our project. We have shared with Jeremy that the quality of work done by this project manager was less than satisfactory. Specifically, we had issues with:
- 1. Subs and the project manager not honoring our original agreement that all work needed to stop by 7 pm each evening. We had to repeatedly ask subs to leave as late as 9 pm and the project manager himself showed up unannounced to work in the house after 8 pm.
2. The hardwood floor/carpet sub was put in the position of refinishing the hardwood floors at the same time other subs were doing work on other parts of the house causing an extraordinary amount of dust and dirt being spread throughout the house despite the sub's efforts to the contrary.
- 3. We chose to move out of our home for 2 weeks as the work being done and the ever changing work schedule of the sub's precluded our ability to stay in the home, despite what Jeremy and the project manager had indicated when we laid out the scope of work. This added unexpected hotel fees to the cost of our remodel.
- 5. We did perform a walk through with the project manager which generated a punch list, which was not fully completed despite the fact that the project manager said the work was completed. In all fairness, we did not pursue the ommissions on the punchlist as we chose to simply pay our bill and close out the project.
While Oregon Trail did offer to bring in a cleaning crew and did offer to address our concerns, the quality of the project manager's work did not instill confidence that the cleaning or repair crew would do any better work than what we had experienced to date. For example, the project manager said he vacuumed the house before leaving; he actually vacuumed around most of the furniture, some of which was still stored outside of the room it belonged in, leaving carpet bits under all the furniture. This lack of attention to detail caused us to ultimately move all of the furniture and revacuum. While Oregon Trail did offer to come out to clean and fix holes, gouges and marks on our walls, we declined the offer as we chose to make the repairs ouselves. We have now hired window cleaners, duct cleaners and spent 2 weeks of evenings after work vacuuming, dusting and cleaning paint splotches. We will be caulking the new woodwork in the bathrooms by the sinks that was installed uncaulked, along with repairing holes and gouges in the walls. On the bright side, we found the tile, shower glass and floor subs to be fantastic.
