Early in the project we learned that Jeremy Parsons intended to move  to San Diego to work with a  business partner and he assigned a new manager to our project.   We have shared with Jeremy that the quality of work done by this project manager was less than satisfactory.  Specifically, we had issues with:

  1. 1.  Subs and the project manager not honoring our original agreement that all work needed to stop by 7 pm each evening.   We had to repeatedly ask subs to leave as late as 9 pm and the project manager himself showed up unannounced to work in the house after 8 pm.

2.  The hardwood floor/carpet sub was put in the position of refinishing the hardwood floors at the same time other subs were doing work on other parts of the house causing an extraordinary amount of dust and dirt being spread throughout the house despite the sub's efforts to the contrary.

  1. 3.  We chose to move out of our home for 2 weeks as the work being done and the ever changing work schedule of the sub's precluded our ability to stay in the home, despite what Jeremy and the project manager had indicated when we laid out the scope of work.  This added unexpected hotel fees to the cost of our remodel.
4.  We moved back into the house only to find siginficant dust, dirt, paint overspray and paint splotches on our new tile, granite, shower glass and carpet.
  1. 5.  We did perform a walk through with the project manager which generated a punch list,   which was not fully completed despite the fact that the project manager said the work was completed.   In all fairness, we did not pursue the ommissions on the punchlist as we chose to simply pay our bill and close out the project.

While Oregon Trail did offer to bring in a cleaning crew and did offer to address our concerns, the quality  of the project manager's work did not instill confidence that the cleaning or repair  crew would do any better work than what we had experienced to date.  For example, the project manager said he vacuumed the house before leaving; he actually vacuumed around most of the furniture, some of which was still stored outside of the room it belonged in, leaving carpet bits under all the furniture.  This lack of attention to detail caused us to ultimately move all of the furniture and revacuum.  While Oregon Trail did offer to come out to clean and fix holes, gouges and marks on our walls, we declined the offer as we chose to make  the repairs ouselves.    We have now hired window cleaners, duct cleaners and spent 2 weeks of evenings after work vacuuming, dusting and  cleaning paint splotches.  We will be caulking the new woodwork in the bathrooms by the sinks that was installed uncaulked, along with repairing holes and gouges in the walls. On the bright side, we found the tile, shower glass  and floor subs to be fantastic.

the subs being 'delayed'. We cannot think of any problems that we should be informing any one.  Do know though that the work was just completed and then we had to leave the state for awhile.  As a result we have not used the facilities much.  We do have people checking on the house and the room and so far no problems.Since they is our first remodeling, we did not know about possible delays or whether it is a concern. A daughter-in-law said that the time lines and delaying were very minor compared to what they went through in their remodeling with a different contractor.  I think the website has pictures of the remodeling.

It was an absolutely great experience. This was the first time we have had a remodel that required a general contractor, and happily they were on time, on budget, and 100% responsive to any questions or requirements. The sub's were all very professional and hard working. I saw or spoke to the GC daily. If I had a question, I was able to reach him without difficulty. If an option presented itself that might cost more, I was contacted and given the choice. No surprises. I had independently gotten bids before I chose Oregon Trail, and they were either equal to or better prices. I have zero hesitation in recommending them.

Marc gave me the estimate and answered all my questions. Time was set up for installation and materials were selected. They hauled away all old materials. The installers were professional and friendly. They separated the kitchen from the rest of house with plastic while working on the granite. They made sure I was satisfied with the installation. The only subcontractor was the plumber and he also was professional and provided his card if there were any problems. They completely cleaned up all messes. I felt like Marc was overseeing the whole project either by phone or in person. The final payment and walk through was made a few days after the installation. So I had time to check the work out completely. I was very satisified. This was new experience for me and glad it went so well.
