We were going out of town for a few days and discussed with Chris Boyd that he would first tile the fireplace and then schedule to tile the bathroom with us upon our return. While we were away he decided to start on the shower pan without our approval. He changed the footprint of the shower, making it narrower than we agreed and wanted, which made all the previously roughed in plumbing fixtures off center. Upon our return we discussed this change. He said we would have to pay for his mistake, and now the bathroom bid would cost an additional $3000 over our agreed upon proposal. We had him start on the fireplace, which he decided after he was about 25% completed that he did not have enough expertise to perform the work, and that he preferred to walk off the entire project without completing the fireplace or bathroom work. We found that Chris Boyd lacked skill, professionalism, accountability and was very undependable. We had since learned other homeowners in the area were faced with similar issues after they hired Chris.
