Of more than 4 chimney contractors we called after noticing cracks in the stuccoed chimney, John Gonzales was the only one who told us seepage through the cracks would erode the bricks, so the entire chimney needed to be replaced. The others all wrote up a contract for stucco replacement only. We accepted John's bid because his explanation made the most sense. The proof was in the tear-down, when the bricks crumbled to dust. If we'd gone with any of the other chimney companies, we would have been stuck with a contract for stucco replacement, which as it turns out was the last thing we needed (stucco doesn't make a whole lot of sense in this rainy climate) - but no chimney rebuild at significant added expense. John no doubt saved us big bucks by correctly assessing the scope of the problem. He and his crew were careful not to damage our plants and coordinated their work around the roofing contractor's schedule (Raindrop Roofing; they're also excellent).  I recommended 2 Friends Masonry to a friend after our job was done, and John solved big problems for her, too. Our new chimney looks nice and maintains the architectural integrity of the 1936 house.
