Great to work with

Overall, I had a stellar experience with Dave (the general manager) and his Sanlino crew. Throughout the process, my family and friends had to endure me singing his praises. At a time when it is extremely hard to find any contractor, let alone a good one, I felt super lucky to have encountered Sanlino... they exceeded my expectations almost every step of the way. I had never had any landscaping done before, and exchanged near-daily emails with Dave to answer my myriad questions and refine the contract details before I agreed to sign the contract. Their price quote was the lowest I had received of several landscapers, *and* I was super-pleased by his responsiveness in allaying all my concerns, so I felt pretty confident when I decided to move forward with them, and excited to have the project start. It was an expansive project that included installation of a hogwire fence, new cedar gate, new cedar retaining wall, cedar-cladding of an existing wall, placement of paver stones, installation of pea gravel, boulders, over a hundred plants and trees, and irrigation system. I wanted a Japanese zen-style garden, and he guided the project--and my decisions--well in its creation. They started on February 1st, as arranged, and though the project ended up taking a few months longer than expected, there were a number of reasons for that (such as the ice storm, and) including replacing some plants that rabbits had unexpectedly ravaged and suggesting adding in more elements--repairing gaps in my cedar decking and fence, adding landscaping edging--to refine the look of my landscaping. I never felt like my project was abandoned, rather I was grateful that they did not hurry through my project just to have it done. And though there were modifications needed as things came up, I never felt nickel-and-dimed; instead, I often felt that they expended extra time and effort in order to meet my pretty particular needs. Dave and his crew were very respectful, and he generally gave me a good sense of when to expect them each day. I already had some landscaping plans from years ago when I approached him, and he worked together with me to determine the plant list (organically over the course of the project rather than pre-defined from the beginning) and arrangement of the plants, trees, and boulders throughout my yard. He repeatedly gave me opportunities to sit with a given arrangement for a while and let him know if I wanted anything moved. The guys that showed up were usually the same few (Carlos, Hector, Felipe), and it was comforting to have that continuity. Dave did a great job overseeing the work of his crew--he was keenly aware of what they were doing each day they were on site (and he himself was on site at some point nearly each day), and having them make adjustments as he deemed necessary. I was very impressed by Dave's level of commitment, his artistic eye in creating my landscape and artistic hand in building my cedar gate himself, and his very considerate and kind manner. I have heartily recommended Sanlino to my friends and family as I have been excited to share his level of service with them.

I hired them for a fairly complex yard landscaping project. Great expertise, surprisingly fair pricing, and they were always reliable on meeting their commitments.

Job was to roto till and mulch two new long slender garden beds along a newly laid pathway, about 30' long.. Not terribly difficult but required attention to detail and being careful. Kirk showed up on time and had the job done before lunch, and really did a fine / great job! I was surprised as in Portland so often I've been disappointed by so called pro's that don't give a hoot about anything except getting paid far more than they are worth. Not the case here, very happy and highly recommend this business.

Dave and his team did a wonderful job. We got 1,200 square feet of decking installed with Trex composite decking. We also had the entire backyard redone. Both projects turned out above and beyond our expectations and I would highly recommend their services.

I appreciated their quick response and also the work that was done. They are available to do what you want and try not to push any additional services. Also our landscaper saved us some $'s by suggesting us use our yard debris container for a couple weeks rather than having him haul away some extra sod. That was very much appreciated. Also Kirk was a hard worker so much was accomplished in a day and a half!

We are delighted with the completed work! As importantly, we were very happy with the communication and professionalism of this company. Staff answered the phone and responded promptly to email. Employees did a good job and adjusted the design plan upon my request with no problem. I am very pleased with the final product and would use them again.

I thought it would take all day and cost me a fortune to get my front and back yards squared away...6 trees/bushes and several small garden bed areas needed new boundary edging, weeding and raking out old ground cover, after several years of benign neglect. K and his incredible sidekick made a mockery of my time estimate and cost--a mere 3 hours of work, including edging the grass along the driveway because they said "it wouldn't look right if it weren't done." They were right, of course. Great work for a good price. I'm already planning another garden bed project, now that I know it's practical.

Sandlino relandscaped my patio after a disastrous and expensive job 1 1/2 years ago by a company that was nothing short of a nest of scam artists, certainly not landscape artists. Working with Jen was such a pleasure. She researched solutions to problems; she shopped to find the plants and trellises that worked in my space; she always showed me options with pictures from which to choose. On top of that she did it all on an extremely reasonable budget. This experience was everything I hoped it would be and more. Sandlino will definitely be my go-to landscaper for up keep and any other related needs that arise. Love Jen!

They are friendly, competent, fast.

There was a slight mix up on the appointment -- they came a day early. When the mistake was realized they offered to return the next day (day of appointment). As it was was it worked out OK. They were quick, efficient and very professional. Very pleased and I will work with them in the future.

Company rep worked efficiently and made meaningful suggestions for how I could improve landscape. The rep arrived at the agreed upon time and clearly communicated anticipated time and cost for work and willingly adjusted to challenges as job proceeded.

Great workers. Very flexible to my need to complete the work as soon as possible before placing the house on the market. They were on time and responsive. Overall a good experience.

I am not sure I like dealing with them only over the phone. I requested some cleanup work and a bid for some grade work and rock applied. The clean up crew took the measurements and I got a call for what it would cost for the bidded work. The bid was much higher than I thought it should be and I would have liked to have a professional here to discuss options with but I didn't have that available with me. I will continue to call other companies who prefer a more personal touch and are willing to look at the project we have. The clean up crew were here on time and did a wonderful job and were pleasant to work with. We appreciated their help.

Will use them again. Recommended them to several people. They did a great design. Project completed fast. They cleaned up every night, and when they finished. Crew was very knowledgeable. Office was efficient. Overall experience - this company is very professional.

Really nice, on time, very reasonably priced and didn't try to sell me on services I didn't need. I will consider them for other projects.
