Instead of repairing my big gas heater, they convinced me that it was no good and replaced it with a dinky Hayward heater.  They then suggested that because my old heater had broken because it froze when I was out of town, I should install a freeze control switch.
I left town in December to visit my daughter and family, and when I got back, the heater was broken because they installed the freeze control switch UPSIDE DOWN and IT froze.
I called them and asked them to fix it since it was due to their faulty installation, but they refused.
If I had not been in the middle of a very contentious legal matter when all this started, I would have had the old heater repaired as it was wonderful Teledyne Laars heater which heated the spa in about 10 minutes.  The Hayward took a couple of hours or more to do the job.
I should have not given up on getting satisfaction from them, but didn't have the energy at that time.
I would not recommend this company to anyone.  If they won't stand behind their work, and if they don't give the customer the options to repair instead of replace, then they are not, in my opinion, a reputable business.

I asked for no chlorine as I have asthma. They convinced me that they had to use some. OK. I showed them what I have to take care of the pool. It was neatly organized in rows so that I could easily see how many of each bottle I had on stock and could replenish waht was needed. Right away he shuffled everything around making it a chaotic mess. When I asked him not to do that. (After all, it is MY home.) He replied with, "Oh I'm abstract." Whatever that means. Still I took a chance. He was out two times to service the pool. Both times he didn't close the cover all the way leading to leaves in the pool. His response? "My bad." ??
So another guy comes to install the UV light so we could cut the chlorine use down to zilch. He doesn't have the tools he needs to do the job the first time so he comes back the next day. We had discussed where to put a piece of equipment that he was going to have to move in order to accommodate the UV light. When he installs it the next day he puts said piece of equipment exactly where I told him NOT to put it. Behind all the others where we can't get to it without cutting into pipe again. He completely dishonored my wishes. (Because I'm a woman?) And just did whatever was convenient for him. Apparently he again didn't have the proper tools to do his job. In this case he didn't have long enough tubing. Did he come to me with this problem? No. Even though I was a few yards away dealing with the pond guys. (These guys don't do ponds.)
As the service man was about to leave, he knocked on my door as if everything was OK. The UV installer had left the scene of the crime already. When we went down to check on the job I grew livid. Not only was the equipment exactly where I told him not to put it, but another piece  of equipment, the timer, was dangling from the wall!! There were cords hanging all over the place. An extension cord left hanging across a door. Shards of PVC (carcinegen) pipe all over the floor. And it wreaked so much of chlorine I nearly had an asthma attack on the spot! And of course the bottles in my cupboard were in complete disarray and the pool cover wasn't closed completely. What's WRONG with these people?! Chauvinism? Special needs? WHAT IS IT?!
Needless to say we're hiring a lawyer. They have to reimburse us for equipment they destroyed and for hiring hopefully a true pro to reinstall the equipment they moved. Moronic is all I can say to describe these people. If they ever set foot on our property again we'll have them arrested for trespassing.

Classic Pool and Spa sent a highly skilled professional -- Travis -- to change my filter sand.  Travis arrived right on schedule, and Jennifer, the service manager, called me on the phone to let me know he had arrived and was beginning to work.  Travis worked quickly and efficiently.  My only direction was that I showed him where to spread the old sand, which he did.  In the startup process, after the sand was replaced, Travis found another problem with the pump, which he explained thoroughly to me.  The pump would still work, but the problem would need to be addressed sooner or later.  I asked Travis if he could do that repair as well.  He agreed and he returned later that day with the necessary parts.  That issue was quickly resolved.

This was my first experience with Classic Pool and Spa, and I am absolutely thrilled.  They replaced the sand and did an extra repair for about half of what another establishment wanted just to replace the sand.  There are not a lot of pools in the Pacific northwest, and there is not a lot of competition among service providers.  I have been unhappy with the repairs and the cost of repairs by other providers.  Classic Pool and Spa has completely won me over with their wonderful professionalism, top-notch skills and reasonable pricing.  I only hope other Angie's list members can skip the negative experiences and go straight to this wonderful service provider.

This was an excellent experience from start to finish.  I will call Classic Pool and Spa without a doubt when I have another pool problem.

I had brought in my pool pump to have a replacement filter put into it. The gentleman installed a filter, but it turned out to be the wrong size. After running the pump for a few days and realizing that it was not catching any debris, I returned it. The owner just laughed at me and said that she would not return it because it had been used. I have never received worse customer service in my life. I am so thankful I learned this before making any large purchases from them. Terrible Company To Work With!

The result of the work was fine - spa is now working. I am slightly worried that it took as long as it did for the work (~4 hours labor). My Spa was built into a deck with limited access; although, I provided access to the side panels prior to the visit. Clearly, it was more difficult than your average motor replacement job (which I was told typically takes ~30 minutes per motor), but I'm surprised it was 4x the time. Throughout the job, I was concerned that John(?) would not be able to get the motor out, but with encouragement and some advice and help, he was successful. Note: one pump was just a seal leak, but John was unable to get the impeller off and said it would be over $200 to get it repaired, so I decided to just replace it...while the other had a failed low speed (jet1, used for filter cycles/circulation) and clearly needed replacement. Both pumps were taken. Pump price was $480/each, which seems very very high in retrospect and compared to what is offered online. In general, I was happy with the service, but thought the prices were very high at $1400 for this job. The labor times were rounded a bit for the work, but I discussed this with Classic and it was adjusted according to the arrival/departure times recorded on my security cameras... I also ordered replacement pillows (4) from the company for $150. I instructed them to drop-ship them and instead the product was shipped to the store first, which didn't allow me to verify that they were brand new and delayed the order. Parts pricing was also high compared to other retailers I spoke to. I'm a bit uncomfortable ordering parts from them and am considering future orders (need a jet kit, remote monitor, ...) through other dealers, but really wanted to support the local company - they are nice enough to work with.

What I had ordered and discussed with them was not what they brought to my home. They weren't concerned about where they put it and they seemed like they only cared about selling the pool. The girl who sold the pool to me, never contacted me after. I had them take the pool back, since it was the wrong size, and asked for my money to be returned, and they did that promptly for me.

Overall, it went OK, but it was a bit of a hassle dealing with the sales staff who didn't get what I was trying to do. I booked a month in advance to have the liner installed. Because they wanted to charge me twice as much if they had to install the liner while the deck was still there, I had the deck removed. They were two days late installing the pool liner than the date we had agreed on, but projects always go that way and we worked around them. The crew installing the liner did a great job. They changed out the liner just fine. That went great. But when we developed a problem with a hose leak for the pool and asked if they could help, their answer was "we have a $29,000 project to do" implying that we weren't important enough to help. Bottom line: They're a bit difficult to do business with, so bring your patience. Their customer service is really uneven. I dealt with at least two different people to just buy the liner. Getting on the schedule to install it was 10-12 phone calls back and forth with 2-3 different people. It was unnecessarily difficult. I had the feeling they really didn't want our business. But in the pool business, there is only one season! So maybe they're just really busy and you have to wait your turn.
