I did not operate the gas system until yesterday. I wanted to check out how well my furnace was working so I turned on the gas at the bottles and went inside to adjust the thermostat. As soon as I entered the trailer I got a strong smell of LP gas! I found my gas leak testing solution and went through the system and found that the fitting on the cooktop was loose. I tightened it and was good to go.
The company obviously did not do a leak test. The $60 represents a half hour of labor at their shop rate of $120. The leak of that magnitude was not easily overlooked.
Total time for me to check and fix the system was about 10 minutes.
This major oversight coupled with my previous experience leads me to believe that there is a serious issue in the service department.

My bearings had not been redone in at least 10 years and required time intensive cleaning nearly doubling the estimated cost. I asked the crew to tighten a difficult to reach fitting on the reefer which they did and they needed to leak check the system to verify all was well $60.
first of all when I dropped off my AS my appointment could not be found so my job fell to the back of the line. Instead of waiting for it- I left it for the day.
My disappointment revolves around the installation of stabilizer jacks which I provided and spare tire carrier which I provided. I was told straight out that the spare tire carrier could not be installed because the frame of the trailer (1969 intl Overlander) was different from modern AS models and this carrier (which is the one installed on new AS) could not be installed.
The stabilizer jacks were not installed as and quot;specialand quot; hardware was required. I took the trailer home and checked with the suppliers. No special hardware is required for the jacks just conventional bolts.
I contacted the spare tire carrier and was assured they fit all models back to 1957.
I crawled under and installed the spare tire carrier and the stabilizer jacks. When I cut away the belly skin I found the threaded fittings were exactly where I needed them to hang the carrier- much easier than expected!
THe dealership is apparently training new mechanics.
The previous visit was to trade in mine for a new AS. They went through it and determined that absolutely every system was non functional! I couldnt believe it because I had just had a mobile mechanic come by and inspect those systems and he found them functional.
We decided to modernize our 69 and keep it rather than spending $60K on a new one - despite the sirens call of shiny new....

We purchased teh airstream in March 2013. We had several special options installed and the dealer gave us an excellent price. Delivery was on time and the hitch, coupler and accessories we requested were installed and the trailer was ready to go on the day promised. The only issue was that the two roof vent covers were black and we wanted white ones, which let in more light. The dealer went and purchased two white covers from another dealer nearby and exchanged the covers while we waited. The dealer also changed the two light bulbs in the range hood from incandescent to LED to match the other lights in the trailer. There was no charge for these changes.
After a shakedown cruise lasting a month we returned to the dealer with a list of many things that had to be repaired. The major one was that the heat pump would not put out any heat. It did cool well. It turned out that the wrong A/C was installed at the factory. Airstream shipped a new heat pump to the dealer and it was installed on our trailer.
We are very happy with the sales and service provided by Airstream Adventures Nortwest.

They have always treated me well and their prices were on par with anybody else but the quality of their work was great.
