GNA Homes began as Garth Page construction in 1988 and was incorporated in 2003 as GNA Homes Inc. with Garth Page as the responsible managing individual (RMI). In 1991 I built my first home for my wife and five children. Successfully completing that 3000 sq foot home, I built several more in quick succession. In 2001, my son Andrew joined me in the construction business and we have done all manner of projects since including several more custom homes. We do general contracting as well as framing, siding, finish, and decks. We pride ourselves with being flexible and taking a hands on approach to quality assurance. We work for and often with involved customers who take an active role in the project to the level that they want. Our flexibility to work with customers, 25 years of experience, father and son team, lower overhead, attitude and aptitude combine to do superior work. GNA Homes Inc. is licensed and bonded, serving clients in Washington County. Free estimates for most local jobs.

Garth, who is the father, is a very good communicator; he responded to all my emails promptly and answered all my questions. The bid was $4,250 + $125 per hour for rot repair, which was in line with the other bids I got and it was also within margins of what my insurance adjuster said it should cost (insurance denied the claim). They only charged me one hour of work and materials for the rot repair, so that made my total bill $4,375. The son Andrew and a hired guy did the actual work over a three day period. They cleaned up at the end of each day and left the site reasonably clean at the end. Before they started, Andrew asked permission / informed me that the flower bed and the lawn were going get destroyed during the job, I told him that I understood and that I’d take care of it afterward. It rained on them a couple of times and my yard is a swamp due to the record rain fall this year. So I did have to go out and power wash the muddy boot prints and sawdust off the sidewalks. There was also half a buckets worth of small siding cuts mixed in the grass that I had to pick up and the grass area was turned into a pig pin, which I don’t blame them for because of the soil conditions. No one in my neighborhood has even mowed their grass yet because how wet the yards are. The siding is factory primed a yellow color and the rest of my house is do for a paint job. So I've got a painter scheduled to come out next week and start prep to paint the whole house. Oh, the joys of home ownership :) Overall, I’m pleased with the work and GNA Homes Inc is on my short list for any projects in the future.
Description of Work: The old fiber cement siding on South end of my two story home failed due a combination of harsh weather conditions, the wettest year on record, and poor maintenance on my part. The all day summer sun cracked all the caulk on the siding butt joints and around the window, this allowed excessive water to get behind the unprimed old style siding and around the poorly sealed window. The house is on a corner lot with the wind generally blowing rain towards the large wall, resulting in a lot of run off. The water started running between the siding and the house wrap, soaked into the back of the unprimed boards causing them to delaminate during freezing weather. The water flowing behind the siding also hit and ran along the top edge of several boards and then got behind the paint resulting in very large blistering, like water balloons. The wall is about 32 x 27 feet, that is about 800 sq ft of fiber cement siding plus corner boards. GNA Homes Inc removed the old siding, corner boards, and house wrap. They performed some dry rot repair around the window and one other location they found. They re-wrapped the house with newer style house wrapping which provides a small air gap between the wrap and the siding for moisture control. They performed dry rot repair, sealant tape and flashed around the window. They replaced the siding with primed fiber cement boards without butt joint caulking. They used metal flashing underneath the butt joints as this is the new installation method for this siding. They replaced the the vertical corner boards and caulked all necessary points.

They were nice guys to work with, it's a father and son. They were super punctual, they got right back to me always. They actually live here on Forest Grove so it was really convenient that they can run home and have lunch and come right back. They did a really good job. I love the cover so I would definitely use them again.
