I can't say enough good things about Mike. He did impeccable work at a reasonable price, and he is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
I bought an older home with carpet everywhere, knowing there was hardwood underneath in most areas. Of course, I didn't pull up all the carpet before buying the home, so I didn't know the exact state of the wood. Once the house was mine, I ripped up all the carpet and revealed wood that was in pretty good shape. However, there were some areas where large heatings ducts had been replaced with smaller ones, and the floor had been patched with plywood to reduce the size of the openings. Mike expertly fixed these areas by removing the plywood and adding in new oak boards, and he used flush vent grilles made from oak that look amazing. You can't tell that anything was patched or that some boards are new and others are older. He sanded and refinished the living room, dining room, stairs, upstairs hallway, and an upstairs bedroom. He had to replace one stair tread that was damaged, and again it looks perfect, as if it has always been there. He fabricated a threshold between the hallway and bathroom upstairs from fir to match the fir floors, because it wasn't possible to buy an appropriate piece off the shelf. It too looks perfect.
Mike put down engineered click and lock oak flooring over concrete in my addition, which came out great. I bought the flooring and underlayment pad, and he installed it. He worked with my contractor to fabricate and install a couple of new stairs into the addition, since the original stairs were made from old plywood and were previously hidden under carpet. The new stairs combined with the new floors completely transformed the addition.
Working with Mike was a true pleasure. He showed up when he said he would, he was available by phone, he coordinated his work around our contractor and housepainters (including working on Saturday morning so that he would have the place to himself), and he made sure I was informed at every step and involved in decision making. He even accompanied me to shop for the engineered hardwood flooring we needed for the addition. And to top it all off, after all his work was done he provided me with cleaning supplies for the refinished floor to make sure I take care of it properly.
This may sound over the top, but he really is that good. Hire him.

Mike is clearly a skilled, knowledgeable, professional and creative craftsman. His suggestions were very helpful as we went about the process of designing what we wanted. He was easy to work with, trustworthy and reliable and completed the work in the time frame agreed upon with as little disruption to the rest of our house as was possible. The equipment he used minimized the dust from the sanding. His charges seemed very reasonable compared to the other estimates that we received. We are very pleased with his work and would highly recommend him to others.

BEAUTIFUL! Mike fit us in to his schedule with amazing speed, gave me great recommendations on products to use for the look we wanted, and did a beautiful job! We had just purchased a house and were not yet living there. He came up from Eugene and stayed at the empty house. It took him only four days to sand 435 sq. feet, apply a sealer and two coats of Swedish finish. He charged $3/sq foot. I also paid him $100 for travel expenses since he came from Eugene. He came on recommendation of three different people/homes in Eugene.
