We found Don to be a real pleasure to work with and would recommend him to anyone who is thinking about a home addition project. First off, Don understood our concerns that money was an object regarding this project. Knowing that was important, he was able to provide ideas and concepts where we could save money during the building portion of our project. Knowing, we had a simple concept in mind when we started this adventure,Don was able to use our idea and help shape it to best fit our needs, rather than taking us down a trail of ideas that really didn't make sense to us. It was obvious he was knowledgeable with building codes, engineering and the construction process. In our project, we are extending our dining room by removing a portion of a load bearing wall. Don was able to foresee what it would take to make the move and provide us with options which would work best for our needs. Knowing dimensions and cost up front, it was easier for us to make decisions regarding our build. Don also was able to suggest lengthening our build out in order to incorporate moving a patio door rather than purchasing another. He understands prescriptive load requirements which will give us more room and end up not costing that much more by reusing our materials. One last item, Don could have provided us with an electrical plan and would have been willing to do it. But knowing that electric often times gets moved anyway in a house, he saved us money by only drawing in the requirements and letting us work directly with the electrician with a crayon pencil. Don was easy to communicate with in person, on the phone and through email. This project was completed on time and within the cost estimate that we talked about up front. His plans were hand drawn and easy to understand. I've had several contractors look at them so far and each has said they are well done. Finally the city we are dealing with approved the plans within a week and had no questions or concerns. Thanks again Don!
