Roger has done various improvements on our 1940s cottage over the past three years. He is kind and easy to work with, he guarantees his work, he is good at solving problems on irregular old houses, and he has taught me a lot about home maintenance. He is great :)

Roger was a pleasure to work with!  His quote was very reasonable and his end bill matched the quote to the penny.  He was responsive by email, phone or text when we had questions.  He worked weekends to help move the project along because of bad weather on weekdays.  He creatively approached some of the challenges of an old house and came up with cost saving ideas.  He listened to our needs and sourced the exact materials that we wanted.  He also managed my specific needs very well- for example, I wanted the siding to have 4.5 inch reveal (not 4 nor 5) and he engineered a way to measure it out for me even though traditional leveling equipment did not have a 1/2 inch setting. 
The work was superb and we feel like we got a great price for it.  He is a very honest, easy going person which makes him easy to work with.  We will definitely use him again.

Roger is a true professional.  Each task was well planned out with a lot of attention to detail and quality workmanship start to finish. This was a remodel I intended to do all by myself but got in over my head.  Roger bailed me out and was the major reason we now enjoy a beautiful new kitchen.

The quality of the workmanship was lacking. There were several different things that had to be redone to meet quality and professional workmanship.

I got a few estimates and Roger's was the most reasonable. He finished the job both on budget and on time. He was always friendly and professional. I have hired him for a few jobs now and I am always happy!

Roger does all of his own work, which I appreciate, so I don't have to go through a middle man if there is a problem. This project went flawlessly form start to finish. He had to disassemble the old greenhouse, straighten some of the posts, and rebuild the framework from the ground up. He showed up when he said he would, he cleaned up the site everyday before he left, and he finished the job within two weeks. Roger was very easy to work with. Any questions or concerns on my part were easily worked out and he took the extra time to do things the correct way.

I thought that he did fine and the work turned out fine. They just did a couple of estimates for different things and we hired them for the porch because we were impressed.

Roger was easy to work with and kept moving on what would be a frustrating list of details. He had a lot of good ideas on solving problems and figured out how to deal with some pretty non-uniform situations. He showed creativity and good sense. I am very happy with everything he did for me. I have a number of projects still to go, and will certainly hire him again once I can build up my project funds! The job turned out to be more complicated than we both expected which caused the cost to go up. But all in all, I feel like I got what I paid for.

As part of the process of preparing to have my house painted, I needed to repair dry rot in my front porch. Roger took care of the repair, using pressure-treated wood for the base. He saved me some money by using some salvaged lumber and didn t charge me for it. The porch is now structurally sound. Roger promised to do the job within a 10 hour day and did so. I ve used Roger for a couple of smaller projects since he did the porch repair. He has been consistently reliable and done good work. I have an unusual work schedule and he has been very flexible and willing to work around my schedule.

Quick response to our request for an estimate and provided multiple options on details of construction. The whole project proceeded smoothly with tie-in problems solved expertly. Impressed by the ethical and responsive approach of the contractor.

The job went very well. He took the lead while I acted as his assistant. I found his work to be of professional quality and his construction logic sound. I particularly appreciated his professional approach to developing a contract, meeting his cost estimate, and meeting his agreed upon schedule. He met my expectations and I have already provided a recommendation to another prospective customer.

I had some idea of changes I wanted in my home to make it more consistent with universal design principles so that I could age gracefully in a safe, accessible environment. It was difficult for me to envision how these changes might actually look, but I decided to take the first step and find a contractor who could help me reach my goal and work within my budget. I was fortunate to find Roger Hirsch of 4R House. His years of experience with engineering practices and home remodel were just the services I needed. He helped me to see the changes we discussed by providing autocad drawings as we defined the scope of the project. He deconstructed the major areas to be remodeled in a way that allowed me to re-use many of the building materials and cabinetry. He lowered my bathroom floor 3 inches so we could convert it into a European wet room and have it be wheelchair accessible. I found him to be honest, hardworking, and I value all the guidance he provided.

Everything went very smoothly, from the estimate to the completion. Roger was always friendly, on time, and his work is excellent. We love the deck, it is exactly what we wanted.
