"We apologize that your experiences with our hospital were negative. We pride ourselves on our patient advocacy and compassion for animals. In regards to euthanizing your cat, we are sorry for your loss and understand that it is a very emotional process. As animal advocates, we feel that it is our responsibility to provide owners with all available options to allow them to make the best informed decision for their given situation. For your scenario, we offered diagnostic testing and treatment at no cost through our Guardian Angel fund, surrender and adoption through our hospital, and euthanasia. We are sorry you felt these options were being dictated and that you were not being heard. In regards to cost, we always offer an estimate of the available options and prices beforehand and never proceed with testing or treatments without approval. Again, our goal is to provide education and a variety of choices to allow owners to make their own decision. Thank you for your feedback; we are always open to ways our hospital can grow and improve. We wish you the best in the future."
"We are also glad he is doing well. You were prudent to catch his symptoms and get him in early. Hope you are having a great summer. Steve Amsberry DVM"
"Thank you for your constructive, honest feedback. We struggle trying to balance our focus on patient advocacy, new technology costs, staff training and the financial situations our pet owners are in. With Winnie's Addison's disease there are indeed ongoing costs to try to monitor/treat properly. I wish we had the open honest conversation regarding fees before you left, but please know if you choose to return we will enter the relationship with all the "cards on the table". Our intention is to never have a client feel like they are not "doing enough" for their pets. We also feel it is important that you know what is best for your pets, the fees associated with that care and the freedom to choose the level of care that works for you. We are using some more creative ways now in this economy to break costs up in payments to help pet owners. The door is always open for your return and we are happy to offer any free phone advice at any time. Best regards, Steve Amsberry DVM 541-758-4509"
"Thank you for taking the time to complete this report on Angie's list. Newton has grown up and we look forward to seeing you and him as an "adult" We hope every future visit you feel like you get "comprehensive care" for him and you. We love what we do and really try to provide the Norman Rockwell/high tech combination in companion pet care. As you know--our practice grows because of "word of mouth". Thank you for being part of that process. See you soon, West Hills Team 541-758-4509"
"Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback on Angie's List. Apparently you did not feel like you had a comfortable option to decline wellness services we recommended. This means we failed in our communication to let you know what the best preventative care entails and allow you to comfortably indicate to us if that was the level of care you desired. Maybe I was remembering how you were willing to let me do the emergency surgery on Marcello when he ruptured his bladder and we removed half of it to save him. We miss all of you and if you choose to return the door is wide open. I am unable to control our fees greatly as I have made commitments to provide full benefits and nearly livable wages to our employees, invest in new technologies, invest in extensive continuing education etc. We have become more creative in payment plans as we help pet owners provide the best they can during these difficult economic times. Take care, Steve Amsberry DVM 541-758-4509"
