* The project was delayed while a variance was submitted to the city which added overall cost. All of the details were handled by Powells who did a great job of submitting the variance details and obtaining the permits.
* Because of the variance delay rain became a factor and caused an uncontrollable delay to the project. At times the workers were soaked to the bone but continued to do a great job dealing with very heavy rain at times.
* Overall the project went smoothly and my wife and I were very pleased with the attention paid to details. The workers were professional and cleaned up after themselves after each work day.

Over all the remodel went great! Powell Construction and their subs were all great to work with and stayed on schedule. The workmanship was excellent. Any issue were corrected quickly without a problem. We were so happy with Dowell we are working on another project with them.

This was a fairly big project - we started in July with a meeting with the contractor and the designer and finished (almost) at the start of October. I think the thing that impressed me the most was the professionalism, both of the contractors/designers, and the sub-contractors they hired. We always knew what they were doing when, they gave us a complete day by day schedule, and they pretty much stuck to it, even though a few additional things came up (like having to jack up the floor and install new support beams). They were also very accurate with their costs. They were also extremely considerate - we had to move back in part-way through the project, and they went out of their way to make sure that all the work in the downstairs was done before we moved in to that part. They were also very conscientious about keeping the workspaces clean - we had no problems with dust and debris being tracked into the part we were living in.
It was also a pleasure to work with their designer, Heather. She did a great job of balancing what she knew would work, what we were interested in doing, and keeping material/work costs down. She also has been wonderful about post-work follow-ups (paperwork for the Energy trust, taxes, questions about the work that was done, fixing the few minor things that have arisen after, etc).
Having a full-service contractor is, of course, more expensive than managing it yourself, but the extra cost has been more than worth it. We will definitely be hiring them again when it's time to re-model the rest of the house.

Their expertise and advice was very helpful to us. They worked the job extremely cleanly and with great consideration to us while we were living in the home while it was going on. They stuck to their bids. They were not the low price.

While the project became somewhat enlongated primarily due to complications of weather and scheduling, overall the project went very well. Powell's on-site project manager/foreman was very professional and provided a quality work product. He communicated very clearly when he would and wouldn't be on site, which work would be done directly by the Powell team or subcontracted and managed the painting, concrete sawing and tile contractors to ensure the same level of professionalism and quality.

Powell's designer offered various options for the project and provided pricing quotations for these options. Powell honored their quotations and assisted in the return of excess material. Powell's designer as well as owners Heidi and Tom Powell were also very professional and prompt on communications and managing project expectations.

We recommend and would use Powell Construction again.

Tom and Heidi Powell of Powell Construction are hard working folks with integrity. They have laid to rest the many stories we have been told or heard of remodeling nightmares! This is a friendly and professional company with a staff of employees plus the many sub-contractors whom they bring in to projects. Everyone was on time, neat, professional and friendly, they met the schedules and cleaned up after each day's work. Their plans included how to maintain our privacy as much as possible and they were considerate of our animals. We were very happy with the plans from the designers and delighted with all the results of the craftsmen. My husband and I saw several completed or in-process projects and they were as fine as ours (or more so)! We look forward to yet another project with them. Thanks Powells for setting the bar higher!
