Since Mike was already in our area, he agreed to come over to give us an estimate.  Within an hour he was there at our door and indicated he could do the job right then, if we wanted it done that quickly.  We readily agreed and he and his team got quickly to work.

This was NOT an ordinary tree grinding project.  The tree had a trunk base that had wrapped itself in many layers of roots.  The root system was also extensive and ran throughout the entire front yard.  Mike and team did an excellent job of grinding the base and a lot of the surrounding roots shooting off from the base of the tree.   He and his team were extremely professional.  They got the job done in about an hour and left the area very clean.

I contacted them to provide a consultation on the health of my trees. He returned the call and advised me that he did not do this type of service, but provided me with the name of someone who did that. The reference he gave was very helpful in getting the service I wanted. I have used Holmes in the future and will definitely use them in the future if tree removal is needed.

Rich Holmes was professional, prompt, and courteous. He provided a detailed diagram and description of the work in the bid, which was very reasonable relative to the other bids. He was knowledgeable and carefully explained the process, so I felt comfortable hiring him. This was a complex job as some of the tree limbs that needed removal were growing onto the signal light; the property is located at a busy intersection near an elementary school, so the work had to be done around the school's schedule; and permits and flaggers were required. The only problem that arose was out of Mr. Holmes's control--the flagging company did not show up. Mr. Holmes removed whatever branches he could safely cut without flaggers. He then rescheduled the work, hired new flaggers, obtained new permits, and kept me up to date on the process. I had no worries. Mr. Holmes did excellent work, and we would definitely use Holmes Tree Preservation again.

They were timely and took the tree down with no damage.

All work was done except removing the old stumps and I thought it was going to be another job like the above mentioned service. The next day they returned to remove the stumps which would not run through the chipper. This load filled the back of a box truck. Then they rake the area. This is more than I expected.

Richard and his two workers arrived promptly on the day they had scheduled with us. They spent time planning what needed to be done and discussed alternatives to the approach. Richard looked for a way to maintain the and quot;cat highway,and quot; as our cats use this tree to scamper up to the roof to hang out in the sun. He seemed genuinely concerned that he was going to have to remove the branches that provide this access. I was touched by his concern for my cats, but informed him that removing the danger to the roof was more important than maintaining a cat ladder. As indicated in the estimate, they removed most of the weight from the tree and left the branches that provide the shade the house. He was honest in that he told us the tree was not in good shape and would have to be removed at some point, but that this trim should give us shade for the this summer without further risk to the house. The whole job was done, including clean up and stacking some pieces for firewood, in what seemed like a very short time - 2 or 3 hours. I will definitely call him again when we need to remove the tree.
Oh, the cats have figured out how to get to the roof without their highway, although we haven't figured out how they do it. Perhaps they teleport.

Did a great job removing the dead tree (which was very close to an old fence between my yard and the neighbor's). Mr. Holmes showed up right on time to give me an estimate, and the work was done quickly. Crew left the area very clean. Would definitely use again.

Showed up before the estimated time and had the tree down, cut up, and cleaned-up in about 4 hours. The next morning the stump was remove in about 2 hours. No damage to the lawn or surrounding bushes. Good professional crew.

I called Rich and made an appointment with him for an estimate on some large trees on my property. He showed up right on time and we both looked at my trees. He explained what needed to be done on one tree and said that the other trees that I pointed out did not need any work. He gave me an estimate and we shook hands on the deal. He called and let me know what date he was going to do the work. I was going to be out of town and told him to go ahead and do the work as he exuded that much professionalism during the estimate. I came back and the work was done and the trimmings were around the trunk of the tree not spread out all over the yard. Can not recommend Rich high enough. Great guy.

I called he came, looked at some large very old oaks And some smaller pines.Said I didn't need to worry at this time.

Everything went well. They were right on schedule, did all that we asked, cleaned up well, and we were very pleased with their work.

It went very well. Rich, the owner, worked with James and Mike, two graduates of the Philomath HS Forestry program. They were all extremely professional, careful, and friendly. There was one mishap, to a tree, which was no fault of theirs and they worked extra hard to right the problem.

Got estimates with full description of the job, diagram. Took two (or three?) days, mostly with three men, to complete work. Cleaned up the trash and chipped the branches.

Called him and he got right back to me. Did the work and did not worry about getting paid until I returned from vacation. Neighbors called and sent pictures to say how good it looked. Very satisfactory.

I was very impressed with the professionalism and courtesy. There was a team of 3 men and they did a very complete job and cleaned up after themselves very nicely. I would recommend them without hesitation.

Price quoted was several hundred dollars less than competing companies. A bargain! Very professional job. Completed on time, and on budget.
