Top Hammer Inc

We hired Top Hammer to remodel an outdated upstairs into what we hoped would be our dream master suite. Ultimately, when we expressed that end result was "crappy," we were told by Top Hammer that crappy work is still finished work and we owed them for it. We were impressed at first by the assurance that they would stand behind their work and would show up every day at 7:30am until 4:30 pm until the work was done. Neither of these things happened and by the fourth week of our job, they were already working on another job. When the work was started, I had to ask that they cover our wood floors with drop cloth so that the area that they repeatedly walked over would be cleaner and would protect the wood floors. They did not own any drop cloths to protect existing wood floors so had to go buy them for the job. Also, had to ask for protection in an existing jetted tub, but kept finding workers, tools and air compressor in the tub without any protection. Ultimately, the tub is scratched and cracked from not having any protection and having heavy air compressor set inside it. Top Hammer's sub contrators were not any better. Carpet - under flooring is not smooth and cracks as you walk along the floor. Carpet has lumpy areas in which it is not drawn tight to the floor. Plumber - flooded our basement. Painter (Mac II)- stained trim has a white halo of patching material around every nail hole that Top Hammer insisted, "isn't that bad." While Top Hammer did attempt to fix some of these nail holes (refused to fix most of them) it actually made the area look worse in the hurried attempt to repair. Paint lines are not straight and many areas in closet and shelving that are not painted or finished. Tile company (Tyrolean tile) - put wrong grout in shower area and chose to scrape out every grout line instead of giving us a credit for the mistake. The end result will never look as good had the mistake not been made. Sloppy grout and caulk lines. Electric - light fixtures installed incorrectly and have since had to be changed. Top Hammer's work on shelving and custom vanity is very sloppy. Multiple nail holes sticking into shelving and into the vanity. While they did try and fix some of these nails, the end result is very poor and chipping wood and stain and sloppy clear coat in the rush to try and fix. I would never recommend Top Hammer and am concerned about safe work conditions. In final walk thru with owner, Duncan, admitted to taking shot of whiskey in his car before meeting with us. During this meeting, he was extremely rude, argumentative, all while raising his voice and pointing his finger at us. Upon leaving our house, he sped down our street. Another comment by owner regarding our remodel and the quality of his work included, "It's just an attic."
