We hired Team Titan to replace our sewer from the main to the house. They quoted about $5500 for the street work, and $2500 for the curb to the back of the house. The whole time we worked with them, they would go incommunicado for days. In dealing with all mistakes they passed the buck around people in their company. They tried to charge for the second half of the job before it was done. But get this: when we were selling the house a few months later and buyers did a sewer scope they found that 1. They had done a crappy job joining the pipes and 2. *They DIDN'T REPLACE the street part of the sewer!* They skipped the most expensive part of the job! We couldn't believe it.They did make good and fix it, although offered no explanation or apology, and took their sweet, don't-show-up-when-promised-or-answer-calls time about it. They went right up to the last day before it could have derailed the sale of our house. Lots of stress. I got a call from the new owner recently saying a sink whole has formed in the street, so it seems they did a bad job the second time around as well.I tend to assume best intentions, but I don't see how anyone could"accidentally" not do half the job. You buy a car and they "forget" to put the engine in? It seems clear they're crooked and ripping people off. If 25% of their customers don't figure it out, they've made a ton of money. Now I have to contact the city and find out why they signed off on it in the first place.

It was on a weekend day and we needed someone to get to us quickly. They were there right away and solved the problem. We appreciated their competance and how quickly they were there for us. They did a really thorough job and the guy who came out had to do a lot of troubleshooting.

I recently had my oil heat converted to gas. The gas company will run the line from the street in our area for free if you purchase two or more gas appliances. So, along with the furnace, we also decided to get a new gas water heater to replace our old electric one. Our house is 100 years old and much of the galvenized water piping was original if not several decades old. We didn't like the idea of hooking up the new water heater to old pipes and wanted to make some changes to the piping anyway. I met with Sean, one of Titan's journeyman. He came over and we discussed what I wanted to do and made a material list. A few days later Sean returned to do the job. He removed all the old pipe, set the new water heater, and re-piped everything with PEX. The whole process went very smooth and Sean was a pleasure to have around. We had hot water by the time he was cleaned up and ready to go. Not only is the water flow better, it tastes good too!

We were having septic tank drainage problems.  He came out right away when called, and was very personable.  Said he needed to find out where our junction box was and started digging in the field.  He cut into the septic drain lines in several places, said that we needed a whole new drain field., and that it would be about $8000.  He charged $436 for his investigation and estimate, didn't give us a receipt, then did not send us a written estimate of getting the new drain field. We have since called another company, who did a free estimate, did the work that needed to be done to make everything work right again in 2 1/2 hours time, and showed us that we did not need a new drain field at all.  He even cleaned us the mess Titan left.  He cost $1000.We feel that Titan has totally ripped us off, and we want to tell others to beware of this company

Response from Titan Plumbing & Mechanical LLC
"Let me begin by saying I like this customer very much.We treated her home as if was our own (carpet runners, tarps, daily clean ups etc) I'm dismayed at some of the items mentioned in her report and would like to address them at this time. 1)The hard cost of this job was $7,308.00 after we rebated the "copper" to the tune of $2,200.00. 2)The copper piping was replaced with PEX pipe because the total copper system was severely undersized. 3)We replaced the main water supply with a 1' line the minimum required by Oregon Code the original was 3/4 inch. While boring the new water line we had to by-pass underground utilities having to dig in the members garden area.We do not claim to be landscapers and shrubbery and other plants were dug up to facilitate the new main. The house is at the bottom of a hill and there are ground water problems ,we returned twice to find source of the wet spot she claimed to have finding nothing. 4)The members shower valves and lavatory sink fixtures were all Delta.I advised her that the smart thing to do would be to keep all the plumbing one brand as to repair parts and color tones.(no fixture manufacturers brushed nickel looks the same as their competitions) Yes after I install the shower bar I was upset, the member picked it I installed it and there are no returns.I in turn dropped the finish installed price from $792.00 to $528.00 to assuage any bad feelings evidently I was out 300 bones and the member still had bad feelings. We also installed grab bars at no extra cost. 5) The American Standard Lavatory faucet was stripped before we started work.A plastic insert was split and this faucet was discontinued. Our company put in at least 6 man hours searching for parts and purchased repair parts that did not fit as the new style faucet handle were a different size.I personally hound three suppliers searching for the said parts.I informed the member and would have been happy to install her new one at no cost. 6)Titan's sheet wall and carpenter contractor repaired the walls, matched the paint colors, copied the texture flawlessly and the member was charged accordingly. 7)I have ran the water in the house during and after the re-pipe and heard no banging twice I put my men in the crawl space to double up on the pipe strapping.I have also ran the washing machine with out noticing any such banging.I will freely admit I'm not there on a constant basis so I will concede there maybe a slight water hammer due to the fact that with the pressure regulator the system is now closed.(the system does not permit recoil into the water main) Lastly, I'm sorry that the member is 100% happy with the work we completed at her home.If she has any suggestions that would bring a positive outcome I am more than willing to meet her halfway."

Predators. Don't let grandma, or anyone else, near these guys. I shopped via the Yellow pages for a contractor to do "pipe busting" for my sewer. Ed Topor("Ed the plumber" as he refers to himself , and have discovered is not licensed) assured me they could do the work cost efficiently. Richard Evett arrived to evaluate. He then claimed he "had to go to the city to investigate the complex issue and would call me back with the findings". A week later I contacted Titan to inquire of the findings. The crew showed up to evaluate via camera. The vent is on my roof of this 70 year old house and they were unable to access the entire sewer. I felt beholding to Richard, as he had put so much "effort" into the project, and asked "what is my solution?". "You need a clean-out". "How much is that". "$2100"(-$2400 with taxes). Subsequently(after the fact) bids ranged from $800-$1200. They started work later that morning, and they left for 3 hours to get materials after the hole was dug. The 6' pipe and T were installed later that day, and the work was finished the next day by his underling. Ed Topor called and wanted to see the potential project(sewer bursting) for himself. He stated "I'm banned from the plumbers union for life". I wanted a second opinion, so the disc of the study was picked up by Mr. Evett to "translate it into a format that ONLY the city has", as it did not play on my computer's DVD/or CD player. Richard(licensed) would no longer answer my calls for return of the DVD(which was redone by the camera company free-of-charge), or answer the calls by the camera company. The company went into bankruptcy last year, and are criminals.

"Angie's List saw fit to present me with a 2010 Super Service Award and I can tell you for a fact I earned it. By letting this woman spout nonsense with out vetting the facts concerns me. The business climate now is hard enough with out this kind of stress following me around. I can tell you since you published this report I have not gotten more than three hours sleep a night. So let's get to the facts: 1) My journeyman's plumbing license # is 4818JP 2)I am not now or have ever been in bankruptcy 3)I have a sterling record with Local 290 the plumbers union 4)I have no pending or past record with the Contractors Board regarding predatory practices 5)My contractors license number is up to date and we are bonded and insured CCB#183076 PLUMBING LICENSE # PB 570 Washington CCB # TITAN904J9 6)For safety reasons we do not allow camera or drain cleaning from the roof... We gave the customer an option to install a clean out, she took it. 7)Yes, for technical reason's some customer's DVD players do not format with our camera equipment... We send the disc to the sewer authorities 8)Said customer was given a bid and told the cost of the clean out would be deducted 9)Angie's list has saw fit to award our company with a 2010 Super service Award 10)My faith in the fairness of Angie's List has been in question... We are considering legal action for libel 11)I have never attempted to evade a less than B report, If we haven't meet our customer's needs I want to know why. 12)The worst part of this mess......... This lady has been attempting to bed one of my employees. On the first day of the job they reported to me that she had appeared in various states of undress and constant phone calls to my employee were made not regarding the job. When this was brought to my attention I attempted to handle the communication much to her ire. When our employee returned to follow up she completely disrobed and came on to our man. When I forbade any more contact with her is when the trouble started. I firmly believe that her husband has put a boot in her a** and we are paying for it. Well what else can I say. My record with you,the state and the bank speak for themselves. As previously stated I will concede a bad report, but this is above and beyond. Titan and I will not be called criminal or predatory. This needs to be handled. If it's not slander and libel it's close to it. I'd rather have this situation die on the vine, but we are ready, willing and able to take this as far as need be."

They were here pretty much on time. What I really did not like was that they sent out an apprentice to do a journeyman?s work. He was constantly calling the shop to find out what he should be doing next. I brought it to their attention, but I think it did not make much of a difference. They still charged journeyman?s rates. I wasn't terribly happy with them or their workmanship. As an apprentice he took three times longer to finish the work than a journeyman would have. I got burned because they used journeyman rates for an apprentice.
Response from Titan Plumbing & Mechanical LLC
"Thankfully we as contractors get to respond to members comments.Titan had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting this couple through one of our fellow contract firms who happened to be giving a "free" kitchen remodel contest. It gets better the theme of said contest was "Worst kitchen "entered.Wouldn't you know it "Ma & Pa Kettle" won. We arrived on the job to find out that the members wanted to put the thirty plus year fixtures on the newly installed sink! "What the Ham Sandwich !" we found that the discontinued May Tag disposal's mounting flange was throw away during demolition, the faucet was hardly serviceable and the shut off and supplies were in bad shape......No wonder my man had such a hard time. Needless to say we will no longer be participating in any "FREE" contest ever again. We lost money and time plus had strained relations with the contractor that we previously enjoyed working for.I hope that the members enjoy their modern updated kitchen and will quit looking a gift horse in the mouth and try to understand that indoor plumbing is required to be maintained."

This job went well. This is the second time we used Titan. I tried to post a comment last time but I see today that it didn't make it. Odd. In any case, last time I mentioned in my review that it's hard to find a plumber you want to use and that I was happy to find someone as good as Titan and that I would definitely use them again. So, I did. I called moments before the Superbowl was about to begin. I wanted to wait until the next day for the repair but I also didn't want to call during the game. Just to give you an idea of how responsive he is, Ed said he could come right away. After I said no, I could tell he was relieved to be able to wait. He showed up in the morning right when he said he would. He came in and checked out the problem. He did have to go out and buy some parts. Although he has a big truck full of parts, we needed something that they didn't have on board. He called when it took a bit longer than he thought it would just to let me know he'd be back soon. When he returned, he was able to relatively quickly repair the problem. He put new shut off valves where they can be easily reached and replaced all the lines that needed it. Everything was repaired and cleaned up within a few hours. I mentioned in my earlier comment that didn't appear that I now feel like I know someone I am happy to call "my plumber". We are so happy with the repairs that we've asked him to come back and do some more work as soon as he can.

Ed has a great deal of integrity. He shows up as scheduled, gets the job done in timely manner, never cuts corners, and uses quality products that he can stand by. He also takes the time to go with his customers to order fixtures and makes sure they are well-taken care of in the show room. He also cares a great deal about his customers. On one occasion, it occurred to him that our contractor had forgotten to seal an important valve. He came back to complete the task himself. He's not cheap, but you get every penny's worth.

We had a different plumbing company and they made so many mistakes that we found Titan Plumbing to correct their mistakes. They were fast and thorough. They are competent. The main person had a good sense of humor and we got along. He was very funny to have around. When he saw the other plumbing job, he said that he would redo the entire section. He said that he would not charge me for it because no one should have done it that way. He had some really good ideas and solutions. There were some problems that other plumbers were not able to figure out how to solve. We had a toilet where the sewer trap was too close to the wall and no toilet would fit. He was able to solve a lot of problems in tight places. He was able to take care of complicated things. We were happy that we found a competent plumber through Angie?s list.

Ed came out and gave me a verbal estimate, said he would pull a permit online. He told me he could get me his cost on fixtures and supplies for my bathroom addition. He drew a rough plan out on and said he could install a small plumbing vent in the wall. It was a new style that wouldn't require a pipe running up to the roof. Cancelled first work date due to an emergency. He asked me if I had a permit. I said that he told me he would do that, he said I would need to get one and wrote down the info I would need to take downtown. I inquired about the backwater valve, would it be plastic or cast iron? He said he couldn't get cast iron on short notice and I didn't need it, plastic would work fine. I said I would prefer cast iron and would pay the difference. He said it was very expensive. he said that his cost on plastic was $45.00. He went back downstairs. & I went out to sit on the porch. Shortly thereafter Ed walked up from the back of the driveway while talking to someone on his cell phone. He told me his "buddy" at the plumbing supplier's was on the phone, then put the phone on "speaker", he asked this "buddy" to give me his (Ed's) price. His buddy said that Ed's cost was $85.00 for plastic and $550.00 for cast iron. I wrote the prices down. I told Ed I would get back to him. He and his apprentice were here for about 40 minutes, total. Ed said that the other tradesmen were in his way and he would come back later. They did install the "y". I phoned a local plumbing supply company and priced a plastic valve at $29.00 and cast Iron at $163.00. I phoned Ed and told him what I had found out and told him that I would pay him for a house call and the price of the "y", but no more than $120.00. I did not want him to come back out. He started to protest, but then said fine, he would send me a bill. A week or so later I found an invoice from Titan Plumbing stuck in my storm door. There was no breakdown of pricing, the total was $120.00. I mailed him a check on August 23 after first trying to pay the bill online. The check cleared my bank on September 8.
Response from Titan Plumbing & Mechanical LLC
"Well I knew this job was bad news when the member claimed the next door neighbors were crazy.....99.9% of time it's the person pointing the "crazy" finger. To make a long story short we didn't want the job and her taking advice from pony-tailed concrete contractor was just the excuse to over bid and escape from Alcatraz.........Sometimes it's better to run and fight another day."

Ed came on day 1 to see what had to be done. After I decided to replace the tub he and his workers came back two days later. They were here for an hour and needed supplies. They were gone for two hours. When they got back back the work was completed as follows. They removed the existing tub and installed the new tub. They reframed the area to get ready for the new tub. They took the old tub to the junk yard. The bill was $1,925.00 (Plumber 1 $792, Plumber 2 $450 and Plumber 3 - $450 - materials $250) He gave me a discount of $425 for Angie's List. The original estimate was for $800 - $1200. Because the job turned out to be so much more expensive than planned, I had my brother-in-law put in the new faucet after the tile around the tub was installed.

I called him, he was at my house in about 45 minutes. In and out in 5 minutes. OK, it was only clogged with paper, but my snake and plunger weren't working, I am pregnant and was alone with a toddler and 2 dogs. When I told him Angie's List referred him, he immediately took off the $20 without me asking him. I would definitely hire him again, but he was kind enough to tell me where to get the pro's snake. I'm considering him for a basement re-plumbing job because of the great reviews!

Ed and his crew arrived in a timely manner and went straight to work on our project. They spent 3 and a half days performing the work described above, always having a clean up and organization session at end of day. Ed employs good quality materials and installs his plumbing in a very organized and well thought out manner which is important to a homeowner who wants the work to be done the right way. He also discussed options and offered opinions that will ultimately be fruitful for any future developments in our home.

Ed called to let me know he was on his way but was having trouble finding the right sized seals. During the conversation he remembered he had a new toilet that had been just sitting in his garage and he made the decision to turn around to go get the toilet and install it in my home without any additional charge and he removed and disposed of the old one! Ed knew how tight things were for me financially and did this random act of kindness. I am so thankful; touched and well overwhelmed that he did this. He went above and beyond and at a time when it wasn't in the normal call of duty, but he did it anyway. There is major customer service for you!

Ed responded right away to my distress call of having absolutely no pressure in my shower. I had put off the idea of repair for way too long due to my worry that I needed all new pipes in my old home and of the cost of what that might be. After discussion we decided to start with the faucet kit. Ed is very experienced and thorough and the repairs went smoothly and the installation of the kit did the trick. He was very patient and did a lot to reassure me he would only do what was needed. I watched the work and believe he was very skilled at his trade. He made a couple of trips for parts specific to my job which added about an hour and a half to the (per hour) fee basis. The service took a total of 5 hours. We decided on a per hour fee basis since I have access to plumbing supplies at near cost. He was willing to work with me on that. Also he noticed the water main was leaking at the cut off valve and followed through to inform the water company. He didn't seem bothered by my watching and constant questions. I believe his work is of very high quality.

Ed has plumbed a number of similar projects for me and will always be my go-to guy. His attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills make him the perfect fit for remodeling. He understands that the client is the final boss and will go the extra mile to make them happy.
