Have you ever tried to get a yard of topsoil delivered on the same day? I called at least ten different suppliers, many of them companies with A ratings here on Angie's List, and only one of them agreed to help me: Portland Rock and Landscape Supply. Bryan, the owner, could not have been nicer or more cooperative. When I reached him he was on the road and couldn't confirm the possibility. He called me back as he promised he would, said yes, suggested the right soil product for my needs, and the truck was there within two hours, just as promised.
The driver also could not have been nicer, more personable, or more professional. He backed up his dump truck into my awkward sloped driveway perfectly on the first try, unloaded the dirt mostly manually (because he also had a load of pea gravel behind my dirt), and even repositioned the truck after a few minutes to make sure all the new soil landed on concrete instead of on my lawn. He cheerfully handed me a brochure and price sheet for Portland Rock and Landscape's other products, and you can bet that the next time I need anything in their line I will call them first.
