One day the workers forgot to cover the roof when they left, as a rain storm was coming, so we had to call them back to cover it when we discovered leaking in our dining room. This stained our wood ceiling, which took them months of dabbling to care for, and they never did get it completely right. They had no idea how to work with the wood and would not hire an expert. Another day I observed a worker sitting on one of our skylights while roughly wrestling with some metal capping. At the next rain, that skylight leaked, however Hoag disclaimed responsibility and told me that their worker would never sit on a skylight. They also switched out shingles disqualifying us from a $1500 Energy Savings tax credit.
We have a complicated roof, and spent several hours discussing particular details and solutions at length with the salesman, however, the workers did not execute to plan, and when pressed, with the salesman present, we were told that they did not even know how to execute what was promised to us. The Manager, Sage, told us that he felt so bad for how we were treated, but wouldn't see that the work was completed properly. He offered to reimburse us $1000 to "ease our pain" but then refused to follow through.
We were suckered in by a nice guy promising us lots of work for a decent price. In the end, we have a poor roofing job that will require SOMEONE ELSE to repair, sooner rather than later. We regret not backing out at the first sign of trouble.
It was pretty straightforward. He came, gave us an estimate, came back and did the work. We had no problems. Our experience was fine. Nothing really stood out, we expected them to clean up as part of the job and they did.
