My association with John Hastings began in1998 when I could not find a side cabinet that was the right height for a light next to my bed. I still use that perfect cabinet. Over the years, John has made large and small book cases and cabinets that perfectly match my necessary specifications. He is consistently willing to talk about the project and not only has good suggestions for their construction, but also has a keen eye for their potential aesthetic value. I have not always gone to John first, since I have shopped at furniture stores when I need something. I always come back to him because he provides exactly what I need at a price that is either the same or lower than the competition. He uses real wood, not some cheaper substitute!! He also sticks to projected dates. If he says that it will be ready on a certain date, it will be done by then! Can you tell that I am a huge fan of John Hastings and highly recommend him to all!!
His prices were reasonable. People coming into the house always comment on the beautifu woodwork that he did here. We would recommend him without hesitation.
If you think I am heaping praise too lavishly on Hastings Furniture, you would be wrong. My family and I simply like being surounded with meticulously crafted furniture, hand-made to order, just for us. Whatever you want built will exceed your expectations and will be surprisingly affordable.
A friend told us there were furniture makers in Central Point. We were not having luck in finding what we wanted in the area furniture stores so we decided to go. Put on the GPS, set in furniture makers, John's place was the first to come up and it was just around the corner. We stepped into his show room and there was an example of what we had spent so much time looking for - an oak dresser that perfectly matched our oak wood bedroom set. We discussed the look we wanted, price and delivery. John drew his interpretation of what we described and made suggestions for the handles and mirror type. We liked the drawing and the price and made our first purchase. Soon after we realized we needed something to put our flatscreen TV on. We didn't bother shopping in furniture stores because we had a limited space and my wife had a design that she very much wanted, so we went to visit John. Again we described, he drew, made suggestions, worked a price and we bought an oak mission style flat screen TV cabinet.
We purchased a queen bed for the guest room and upon delivery saw we had no room for a chest-of-drawers - back to John. We told him our problem, he suggested 2 night stands with 3 drawers each and finished in a very light colored beautiful maple. My sister was coming to visit shortly, asked if he could have it done in time for her arrival - he said yes and bought them along with an oak computer desk and hutch for my wife.
In the remodel, our dining room area turned out to be a bit larger than expected. We had a large blank wall that needed filling and needed storage space also - back to see John. We wanted something 7' tall by 9' wide, described to him a unit with 3 segments - glass display areas on each side of a book shelf area made of hickory (same wood as the kitchen cabinets). Again a collaboration and a purchase. But this china closet is special to us: John arranged the variety of hickory color and grain in such a way that is very pleasing to the eye, it is the piece we enjoy the most.
By now, seeing John is becoming a habit. He delivered the china cabinet and we sat down and worked on a coffee table, large end table and a two drawer end table to match the mission style oak flat screen TV cabinet in the living room. And our last request was for a corner book case to match my wife's oak computer desk/hutch. It turned out to be a design we had never seen before. Needless to say done and done.
We now have unique furniture in each room of the house. Thank you John.
