I was very happy with the whole experience! Jeff and Steve were great to work with. I wanted to save some money so I did the tear off my self, Steve came to our house with a trailer and tools and instructed us on how to do the tear off. They were quick and cleaned up when the job was finished. I would recomend Apex roofing to anybody!
I only wish that SOME roofers would start providing their employees with health insurance, pension plans, paid vacations and sick leave. I like to vote with my dollar, and would've preferred to go with a vendor that treated his employees like the hard workers they appear to be. But alas, apparently no local roofing company does this. None from which I got estimates did. Any company that does so will certainly have a higher overhead, but can probably expect less turnover and more patronage from customers like me. And ultimately should feel better about how he's treating his people.
"In response to health care/ pension plans/sic days: I feel the same. Everybody that works should have these benefits. We will be looking into these benefits in the near future. We have however been taking steps to keep overhead down. You wont see us driving a 50,000 dollar new truck, or buying commercial real estate to store our equipment. My refusal to do so stems back to my big picture "more profit more benefits" On the flip side, the roofing industry is very, very competitive in a numerical sense. Estimate are often low compared to other trades, yet we roofers pay the highest insurance premiums on the market. Just one of the many reason's that keep our numbers/ benefits down. Please know that, Apex employee benefit package's are something we are striving for. Thank you again for the work. Jeff Thayer"
Apex worked very well with the carpenters by returning several times to do roof work as the carpenters finished each portion of their job. When rain / high winds threatened, Apex made special trip to Fort Klamath and installed the metal roofing on entire roof, then returned after the rain and removed portions of the roof so the Carpenters could finish their job.
Apex designed Metal Roofing Wrap to go around the massive Barge Rafters that is exposed to the wind and weather coming off of the Lake to protect the wood from damage.
Last month when a leak developed in the sky light over the dining area, Apex returned and checked the sky light. After determining it was not the roof leaking, but the sky light, Apex made a temporary repair to stop the leak until a Glazer can repair the sky light. Apex did not charge for the repair.
I give these guys all A's on the way they worked with the other contractors and for doing a superb job.
"On July 3rd, we were unusually busy with people who wanted to get estimates done and projects scheduled before the left for the 4th of July holiday. On days like this we sometimes call ahead to see if we can adjust schedules to accommodate everyone. I called the client before this appointment to ask if we could move it to a later the same day or to a different day. just prior to our meeting time however, my GPS had lost connection in the rural are in route to the client's home. I took a wrong turn and had to stop for direction. i called the client, explained what had happened with the GPS and that I would be late. When I arrived on this extremely hot Wednesday, we discussed the project and I answered every question the clients asked. While they went off to attend to their property, I measured and inspected the roof. Before leaving, I said I would be getting back to them on Monday or Tuesday. They asked if I could do it Friday and I agreed. I made a note of it as I got in the truck, but the note was attached to another estimate (which I completed and presented on Friday). On the following Monday, when this client called my cell phone, her name came up on my screen and I happily said her name as I answered the call. I was stunned when she said I had missed the appointment. I said, "That's terrible! (I was thinking, Oh no! How could this have happened?) Are you sure we said, Friday?" She reminded me and I apologized for the mistake. She told me she would be going with another roofing company. I told her I respected her decision. When I returned to the office I reviewed my notes and realized how the mistake had happened. The extreme heat, the GPS problem, the busy schedule, were all just circumstances. The misplaced note was my mistake. The mistake and responsibility was mine as the estimator. So, though I knew she had gone with another roofing company, I still called the client back to explain the mistake and extend my sincere apologies again for the inconvenience of the missed appointment. We strive for great communication and customer satisfaction. If a mistake happens we take responsibility for it and we correct it. I have since changed the way I note follow up appointments so this won't happen again. Steve"
