My old spa cover was really waterlogged, heavy, and pooling water. I found out about the $100 cash rebate from Energy Trust for new covers that meet a number of qualifications (http://energytrust.org/residential/incentives/water-heating/outdoor-spa-cover) and are purchased through an authorized provider. I spent a bit of time familiarizing myself with the options, and then started going through the Energy Trust list of providers and calling around for quotes. I ended up choosing Spa Cover Outlet after a few hours of researching and calling around; and I couldn't be happier with the choice I made. First of all, the quote was cheaper than anyone else's, sometimes by a good margin. ($408 for a custom cover; foam core 5" center tapered to 3" at edges, R18 insulation, double wrapped foam core, R12+ hinge). Delivery and disposal of the old cover was an additional $20. Everyone else I called quoted more than this, without delivery & disposal (just shipping - but then I'd still have to dispose of my 100+ lbs old waterlogged cover myself). So that made it a no brainer. On top of this, Terry was the only one who came out to my place to measure and show me color swatches. Everyone else I would have to measure myself and order on the phone or internet. This may not sound like a big deal, but part of measuring is to measure the radius of the corners - and if you don't know how to do this, it could easily be done wrong. I'm not scared of doing this myself, but at the same time, when an experience pro can do it without costing extra, thats a no-brainer. While he was out, he also looked at my cover lifter and gave his thoughts on the adjustment and condition of it. He easily could have sold me a new one, but he was very frank and told me that if it was his, he'd continue using my existing one. He took the measurements, showed me color swatches, and I went ahead and ordered. About a week later he delivered the new cover and took my old one to dispose of. He was very flexible with timing. My whole interaction with Terry was one of those uncommon, very positive interactions that I've had with contractors since buying our house last year. You can tell he enjoys what he does and he enjoys people. It sounds corny, but you can't beat his prices and service. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Terry from Spa Cover Outlet came to my house, measured my hot tub (an older Hot Springs unit), reviewed color samples with me, and then custom ordered the hot tub cover. A week later, he stopped by, delivered the spa cover, and disposed of my old cover. The cover he delivered is Energy Trust compliant, and he included all the necessary paperwork to receive the $100 rebate.
