PETCO

I needed to get my one dog in right away because he soiled in his hair. They got me in within a couple of hours and that was great. When I got there I saw a girl in the back blow drying a med/large dog that was barking and moving and she would yell at it and tell it to stop. She would also grab him and drag it back on the table towards her. Maybe it would have been best to have another employee stand in front of the dog to help her These people should be compassionate as grooming can be stressful to dogs and shouldn't subject them to more stress. When my husband picked up the dogs he informed me he saw a similar instance as well. It appeared all of the employees were really young so maybe that played a part as well.

We will NOT be back as we love our animals and won't subject them to that type of treatment. I'm sure we'll have to pay more by going somewhere else but that's fine as long as they are treated with compassion.

P.S. I wasn't there when our animals were groomed so my opinion is based on what my husband and I saw on other animals being worked on.

Our groomer, Sally, was GREAT - very professional and knowledgeable. She was ready for us when we arrived for our appt. and did an excellent job in a timely manner. She knew just what to do to get rid of the matting and returned our little dog to us in beautiful condition - clean, beautifully groomed, happy, with perfectly clipped, smooth nails/claws. She even helped me select the proper brush for the dog and had suggestions on how to keep her eyes clean. We have found our groomer!
This is my only experience with Petco grooming so I can only address my experience with this particular groomer. In general, the facility appeared clean and well managed. I like the fact that the entire grooming area is visible from the store. The other groomers I observed working while I was there appeared to be very competent.

OUR EXPERIENCE WITH TAKING OUR DOG TO PETCO WAS GOOD. OUR DOG WAS VERY SCARED TO EVEN BE THERE, BUT THEY ASSURED ME THAT THEY WERE GENTLE WITH HER DURING THE ENTIRE TIME AND SHE SEEMED FINE WHEN WE PICKED HER UP. WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK.
