I needed to winterize the sprinkler system of my new home.  Being new to the area, I joined Angie's List to find reliable, licensed services.  I happily found Mateski's Landscaping Services, and left a voice message at the office.  Within an hour, the Owner, Jim Mateski, returned my call.  We had a very friendly chat, and Jim was very generous with his time.  I do understand quite well that it is Autumn "busy season" in the landscaping business.  Even though I had a small job in the middle of busy season, Jim treated my need for services very professionally, and seriously.  I am 100% happy with Jim's services, and prices, and I will continue on with him in the future.

We come out of winter. I had call them because my friend that helped me in the yard couldn't get the sprinkler system to work right. I called them and they left a note. They don't make appointments. They are so busy that time of year, they go from one appointment to another and they leave a note on your door. Apparently, after noticing what was the problem, something was dirty and he cleaned them out. I guess he didn't test them until I called him because I was in the house so I just have to see him leaving. I caught him and opened the garage door so he could come in and test the automatics. Everything was okay. Other than that, they would have missed that. I assumed that he would have thought it worked okay unless there is a way to test it outside, I don't know because I turned off the electricity for the automatic sprinklers because they weren't working. I thought it was a bit high.

Joe Mateski showed up the same day I called. He quickly got the job done and thoroughly explained what was involved. I would use him again.

We had just moved to Bend and didn't know who to contact for this service.  So on account I was gonna be overseas for the first 20 days of November, I'd initially agreed with a neighbor to join together and we'd use the same company they chose to winterize irrigation systems.
So upon return from Overseas I found 8" inches of snow on the ground and temperatures in the below zero at night and the neighbor said they'd been unable to find anyone to do this relatively simple job.  It became an emergency since it can cost 1,000's of dollars to repair an irrigation system which has been hard frozen.  
So I decided to take matters into my own hands on Saturday November 22 and needed urgently to find somebody to do our system immediately.  I consulted Angie's list and Mateski Landscaping was one of the companies which had reasonably good reviews.  I started calling all the well rated companies on a Saturday and Jim Mateski was the only one who answered the phone himself (of all the others only Miller Landscaping even returned my call as of today, Tuesday).
 Jim was completely professional and friendly.  He also reassured me he'd get over first thing on Monday or Tuesday (if the snow was too frozen Monday morning).  Speaking of snow on the ground  it also makes the job more difficult and slower to do.  Jim's response to my urgency was very important for me as I was beginning to freak out that we'd have have to rebuild our system so I accepted his promise to get the job done so I wouldn't have to keep calling different companies.
Monday morning one of his staff (also named Jim) showed up in front of our house and took care of the winterization while I watched.  I felt he was professional, competent, as well as friendly.  I believe Jim Mateski saved our irrigation system and I plan to have them service our system again for next summer.
They also charged $75 which is the going rate to have a professional licensed company do this job.  Under the circumstances he could have charged more for urgent service but didn't.  I was so happy I didn't use the coupon from Angie's list and gave the second Jim a $5 tip.
These guys are OK !!!

Jim called and told when he would be coming to my house. He arrived on time and performed the work quickly.

They're very professional and good quality.  I thought he did high quality work.  They were efficient and reasonably priced.
