Buyer beware!! I purchased a home in Miami which the previous owners had begun significant renovations but were transferred to Austin TX about 80% through the project. Part of the renovation included complete replacement of windows to the 1937 historic home. The previous owner has selected Pozzi windows and replaced 13 out of 19 windows/doors. The owners provided me the name of the company they purchased through so that I could complete the project. When the installers brought the remaining windows, they noticed a known manufacturer's defect in the lamination of some of the previously installed windows and had the manufacturer (Jeld-Wen Inc.) contact me for replacement. Jeld-Wen came out to inspect the Pozzi windows. They explained that it looked like my windows were manufactured as they were correcting the lamination problem as some of the windows were experiencing delamination while others were fine. Two week later I was advised by email that the manufacturers warranty is NOT transferable. They offered me the "opportunity" to purchase replacement windows at a 40% discount, excluding labor. So, IF you are installing hurricane impact windows, beware the Jeld-Wen manufacturers warranty is NOT transferable. This was not the case with the roof that was replaced during my purchase of the home. So , you may be upgrading for both safety and resale value, but need to be aware that the 10 year warranty against defects for these windows will not be of value to you as the seller or your future buyer.
