First "fix" didn't work. Then ordered a part which took 2 weeks to get. Then completely fixed.

This service call left me conflicted about using High Desert again.
The Good News: They scheduled an appointment quickly (for 2 days later). Their technician showed up early, diagnosed the problem, had the part on hand, and fixed the unit in less than an hour. If that were the whole story I'd use them again in a heartbeat.
The Bad News: Their pricing. Here's the breakdown. $65 to come to the house and diagnose the problem. $90 for the replacement heating element. A separate $121 charge for labor to install the new part and clean the dryer vent. The technician was on site for a little less than an hour...half an hour to diagnose the problem and half an hour to fix it...making their effective labor cost nearly $200 an hour. Ouch. I don't have a lot of experience with appliance service companies...but next time I'll probably call around looking for a better deal.

The job was done professionally, on time. The price was very high, "Because of the great distance (outside our usual service area)" despite that the job was scheduled to allow the technician to do two jobs that were in the same general vicinity. The technician did the exact specified job, but did not fix a related problem: One burner failed to ignite correctly. We had to call a warranty service company who sent a technician. He simply cleaned the flame spreader, something that I would have expected the High Desert technician to correctly diagnose and do. I admit, I didn't know to do it.
