All of this was done neatly and efficiently. The crew arrived on time and the work was completed on schedule.  Keith was very clear with us about the condition of our roof and what needed to be done to repair it properly. Every day of the job,we received a report out of work completed and revised estimate as work beyond a simple roof repair was completed.
As an example of his professionalism and fairness; an unfortunate parking job by his equipment truck on the first day knocked over our brick mailbox and Keith had it repaired, good as new, no questions asked.
This is not the guy if you want a quick and dirty job- Keith wants to do the job right and he makes good on that promise. We spent more on this job than we had anticipated but feel we got our money's worth and feel assured that our roof and sub-roof are in great shape. And NO LEAK!!

I've built 3 houses over the years and tend to hire subcontractors for their key skills vs someone who "does it all". I can do the dumb work like clean up, I'd rather not pay skilled labor to do this. Keith came over to bid and surprised me by climbing under the house with me to see the problem first hand. This surprised and impressed me since most contractors estimate from above where it's not dirty. The bid was consistent with one other bid I got. The work started on time as promised. The two guys were skilled and took little risk as they demolished the corner of my house to replace rotten wood. They checked with Keith when there was a question about how to make the new structure adhere to local code. The guys were polite and professional. I was very happy with the work this company did and would hire them again

I wish I could give them an and quot;Aand quot; but there was some and quot;Cand quot; level service that annoyed the heck out of me. I care about service. Everyone in this business should.
Quality of the work on the roof - great.
* My GC came by today and said they did a really good job inside and out. I picked KGC over two contractors who had bid $2K less because of the reviews on this site, and because Keith was really nice.
* I won't discount the actual work done - it was very good, but remember folks, it's the other stuff that can add up and cause one not to recommend someone as by the end I was just frustrated with their service. And people say and quot;oh they are roofers, you shouldn't expect muchand quot; which I say, for $9K of my hard earned cash, is total crap.
Care they took of exterior - poor.
* The roses were protected, yes, but I lost: all of my strawberry crop for the rest of the season (massive layer of toxic dust), all of my cucumbers (they moved the pots and tore them out by the roots, rather than asking me to do it), all of my basil (they were throwing roof debris right near them - they could have suggested I move them further away from the fray), and at least 10-15 plants in my front yard including most of my woolly thyme and society garlic, and must have completely stepped on my bee balm as it looks like a tiny weed on what was once a beautiful flowering plant.
* They decided after the first two days that after that they didn't need to protect anything in my yard. I have been picking up roofing debris, plastic bits, and other garbage ever since for some reason, it wasn't a big deal for them to throw scraps all over my yard, including right on my new rhododendron bush.
* No one covered my basement windows even though I pointed it out, until day two.
* No one covered up my raised beds on the side and I've been picking out scraps ever since.
* Moved the portapotty from the street onto my sidewalk so no one in my hood could get around on the first day. Who does that?
* Did not clear the debris from my yard after day one which they'd said would be done daily, and left with monstrous piles all over the back yard. This was 5 layers so imagine that, please.
* Did not pick up their personal trash after each day - bottles, cans, etc., strewn all over the back yard.
Communication - poor.
* No one bothered to tell me that during a tear off, I should close all my windows. Not realizing this, I had all my white windowsills with LAYERS of nasty debris that I had to clean up in my bedroom, closet, kitchen, etc.
* They'd leave at the end of the day without saying anything and no kind of update, then I'd wake up to them on my roof, not even a polite knock on the door.
* Several times they were late in showing up at their designated time.
* Said they'd be done by Friday, then said they'd finish on Saturday, then decided to wait through Labor Day weekend and come back Tuesday instead, saying it'd be done then. Was in my house and came out to find everyone gone, and assumed since everything was gone, they were done. Got no response til they were literally, again, on my roof which scared the crap out of me. Asked Keith if he'd do a walk through at the end and he never showed. Again, they left without saying anything and they knew I was in the house. Keith never followed up to do the walk through.
* Sent them some nice suggestions for a checklist they could put in the packets for customers to prevent unnecessary stress of the things that had upset me, and didn't even get an acknowledgment.
* Received a CD of pictures that I can't use as my laptop doesn't have a CD drive - but no response to request for an alternative.
* I had to contact them because they didn't leave the extra shingles for repairs that were promised, and had to wait for them to come back.
* I had pushed back all of my work appointments multiple times to be available for them but they couldn't show the same courtesy in respecting my time.
Billing -
* tried to charge me $75 for a trip to Parr Lumber - which is 2 blocks from my house and who'd provided them with free lunch.
* did not get me a regular update of charges beyond the first day - got it all at the end which went against what they said they'd do.
Interactions -
* The guy who came on the first day (I forget his name) and actually knocked on the door and introduced himself was really nice. Mind you, it was not the foreman/lead who Keith said would be coming. Turns out he showed up hours later and never bothered to introduce himself.
* One of the workers walked onto my property smoking a cigarette and asked if he could continue smoking in my yard. It should be common sense not to smoke on the customer's property.
* They left my back gate wide open and unlocked when they left the first day, and my back door completely blocked so I couldn't access my garden.
This list is meant to itemize what was not done well so that hopefully they will learn from this and show more attention to this important aspect of the job in the future. I hope they will, because it unfortunately overshadowed their excellent work on the roof itself.

I was very pleased with the experience. Keith was very patient with me in explaining what I needed to know about roofing and ventilation systems, and did not try to up-sell any products or services - the price was much lower than some of the bigger operations. The team communicated well with me - and each day there was a full crew of guys that kept me informed. Clean up was done well. I guess the main thing about Keith is that I felt I could trust him - and have already recommended him to several friends.

Re-roofing is an expensive undertaking no matter what roofing material is used. Keith Green helped us make our decision. Ultimately, we went with a EuroShield “shake” rubber roof - chosen for both its warranty and “green” footprint (the rubber “shake” panels are made from 75% recycled tires). Keith personally came to talk to us and clearly explained KGC’s procedures and pricing. He patiently answered all our questions; we never felt hurried to make our decision. During construction, as careful as the workers were, there were 3 damaged plants that KGC replaced without hesitation. Jim Walters, who managed our job, was always quick to answer any question we had. KGC is truly the epitome of “customer service.” The roofing job went very well and we love the roof. Come see it! We absolutely RECOMMEND KGC WITHOUT RESERVATION.

At the time I was looking for a general contractor (GC) to help manage the big scopes for my basement remodel, Keith Green Construction (KGC) had a high Angie's List score. I hired them based on this and their close proximity to my house. I first invited KGC about a year before the actual work began. The person they sent was very friendly, helpful, and encouraging. Because I was just starting with the remodel project, there was a lot of "prep" work that still needed to be done. The KGC rep recommended I invite them back after I was further along... It took about a year before I was ready for KGC to come back out and look at the basement. This start was a little rocky because the person who was supposed to come and do the estimate failed to show without a courtesy phone call. The person who came out the first time was no longer with KGC. I called the main office to complain and they dispatched Keith Green himself to my house. Keith was apologetic of the missed appointment, then went to work. Keith was knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. He listened carefully and offered helpful suggestions where I wasn't sure what direction to take on a particular decision. Since the project was so large, he recommended I hire an architect to ensure I was complying with all the building codes. This was an good suggestion and Keith delayed his final estimate until after the architect prepared drawings and I had them approved by the county. After reviewing the scope with the approved drawings, Kieth prepared his estimate and after reviewing it, awarded Keith the work. Keith was very good at organizing his subcontractors and scheduling the work. His crew was polite, respectful of my home, and professional. The work they did was excellent. The stairs they replaced were complicated, but they made them blend in with the house and the landing had to incorporate a hatch to get to the sump pump located below. The framing they had to do around the duct work, furnance, and water heater was complicated but they kept everything true and square. I had three mishaps that keep me from giving KGC an "A" rating: 1. Keith delayed ordering the windows. As a result, I had wood covering the gaping holes in my basement for more than six weeks in the winter. 2. The concrete floor in my basement is uneven. After work started, Keith brought up the floor would have to be smoothed to meet code. This was not captured by the architect, but smoothing the floor was confirmed by the county (although they did not make any comment during the code review). Keith priced the change at almost $2500, which was more than I could comfortably handle. To resolve the uneven floor issue, our plan is to rent a scarifier to grind down the high points and use self-leveling concrete to smooth it all out. 3. While digging out the window wells, the lower part of the wall was found to have lost a lot of the concrete aggregate. The solution was to patch it and seal it. Keith priced this change at $1,000 which I thought was outrageous. I patched and sealed the wall myself with $50 in materials from the local hardware store. Despite these mishaps, I am quite pleased with KGC's performance and will gladly invite them back for more remodeling work.

Jim (KGC project manager) was extremely and professional. The crew did an excellent job, explained and showed me their work, and did a good job cleaning up. I now have the confidence the job is done right. I only wish I had hired KGC to begin with. I would highly recommend KGC to anyone.

I used them because they were a local company. I would not re-use them because of the service. Once the job was complete they were not concerned if I satisfied or not. The price was to high. They underestimated the cost of job, how many shingles it would take, They said my skylights would not need to be replaced. The skylights were replaced at more cost. They originally told me that they could not start for 5 or 6 months, but ended up wanting to start right away saying they had a job fall through. I felt like they started this job unprepared and in a hurry.

They were punctual and on time. It was a pretty comparative estimate on a standard roof. The do eco-roofing and it is a bit expensive so we decided not to go that way.

I chose Keith Green because they had done a project in our neighborhood, doing good work with a large crew and dump truck and finishing in just a few days. I had the same experience, although bad weather delayed the completion of the project. Keith Lowe and Jim Walker were my contacts, conducting themselves with a high degree of professionalism as well as being friendly guys. The crew came when they were supposed to and were courteous to my family. I was home much of the time and, other than a few breaks, nobody stood around. The weather was horrid, with driving rain, sleet, and snow, but the taped portions of the roof never leaked. Some rot was found and I was presented with digital photos of the site and given the option of having the crew repair it. Jim answered my emails at 6:PM. I can highly recommend Keith Green Construction for a job well done.

They started the painting at the beginning of August, but then work stopped for a couple of weeks. They engaged a sub-contractor to lay tile, but forgot to order the tile, which held up most of the other work too. Meanwhile, although we had been vigilantly informing KGC in August that they were behind schedule, we had to move back in the house with only a small fraction of the work performed. They changed project managers, but things remained slow for the next three months. In September, the tile ordered was insufficient, again slowing work. They sent a KGC employee to install a laundry tub and to paint. KGC refused to use the primer we bought. When the paint did not adhere to the drywall, KGC claimed it was our fault for touching it. As weeks went by, we had to argue and demand they hire an electrician and plumber and then finish the work ourselves, since this was easier than arguing. KGC was rude, incompetent, and incapable of project planning. I've left many problems out!

Steve Hart arrived on time for the estimate on a horrible stormy day. Took pictures of the roof, dodging lightening bolts. Made a DVD with the pictures for us to turn into Pabco for a shingle settlement. We chose them for all of the extra effort. The crew chief Jim Walters kept us informed and came out everyday to inspect the work. The crew did a wonderful job and paid great attention to clean up and special care with our pool and hot tub.

The estimate was friendly, but when the worker showed up, we were told that 2 skilled people would be there. Instead it was one guy who didn't have a clue, what to do. He had to keep calling for help, finally the last day, another 2 people came, to bail him out. They were triple the estimate, took 4 days instead of 1. I only found out that they were triple the estimate, after pinning them down and asking, since it took, so much longer. Kind of irritating to pay by the hour, when they are inexperienced. In addition, most of what they put up is already coming down. Overpriced. No communication with customers!

We had lousy weather the week they started, so it was stop and go. Overall, it went pretty well. There was some disconnect between the foreman and the work crew on the express caveat about leaving gates open (we have dogs) but that was resolved and luckily I was home when four dogs went scooting at top speed in four different directions. We chose Keith Green because they are the only roofing company in PDX which installs Enviroshake. It is expensive, but just an amazing roof. The company was very punctual and communicative about the estimate, the measuring and their work schedule and any additional costs incurred when they found rotten sub-roofing while the job was in progress. The crew made a huge effort to tidy up afterward, and they were cheerful and polite despite the really crummy weather. Roofing is never a really fun job to experience, but this came in on target for cost, time and results. I love my roof!

Keith Green Construction is extremely professional. They respond immediately to every query, arrive when they say they will and never wasted my time. Best of all, the finished work on my windows, (both inside and out), was superb. The most I had to do was get out a paint can and do some expected touchups, but everything was so well-fitted and sealed with caulking that no one but me would have noticed that the trim needed touchups with a paint brush. The guys were prompt, personable and finished when they said they would.
