I purchased GEEK squad coverage for Dell laptop, 3 years of coverage, was expensive but I believed having local coverage rather than dealing with Dell would be worth it. It was not. All they can do is send it out to Dell and then they can't communicate with Dell so it takes forever. Even something as simple as power cord replacement they can't/won't do at the Beaverton Best Buy. I gave up and paid for new cord myself, even though it was covered by the high priced Geek squad warranty. Absolutely not worth the money and wasted time trying to get them to do their job!

I wanted a certain washer so I researched them online from consumer reports and we were going to three different places to get prices and they had the best price. The girl that waited on us knew what she was doing and got us all fixed up. It didn't take very long. She gave us the date they were going to deliver. The guys came out and delivered it. They called the day before and said they would be here within a two-hour frame and they were. They took the old one out for us and the delivery was free.

He came in and did the job correctly. He explained things. He knew what he was talking about. He told me if I had a problem, then I could call him at home. I was really happy with him. If I ever had a problem, then I would try to find him to take care of it.

The one good thing that they do is that their sales people are very good at answering technical questions, if you don’t understand.  The sales people are very knowledgeable.  They are very good at communicating.  The technical support, their return policy, its just everything.  A lot of time you have to wait.  Once you make the purchase, you are in no man’s land.  You have to wait forever to get a problem resolved including stand in line and call them on the phone.

I was in the market for a portable external hard drive for my laptop.  In looking at two possible options at roughly the same price I noticed that one of the drives had two (2) usb cables coming off of the drive.  Hmm...I thought...that's odd.  I think I'll ask. 

First guy referred me to the Geek Squad...where upon performing a thorough 5 second review of the box and without any other sort of attempt to research the product, pronounced that the second cable was in fact only provided for older laptops and usb connections that didn't provide sufficient power to run the drive.  I told him the laptop brand and age I was using, and he assured me that I would never have to use two (2) usb ports just to run this single drive.

Well, dear reader, you probably know how this turns out.  I travel for work, and when I got to my client location I found that indeed the drive requires two (2) usb ports, which is a problem when your mouse uses one and you only have two (2) usb ports total.  Of course, having had to use it, taking advantage of my deft skills with a touchpad, I kept it, promising myself that someday, I would tell the story of this marvelous example of customer service, in the hope that it would send one or two (2) customers to a competitor.  Maybe even more than that. 

The bottom line of course is that at least some of the so-called geek squad staff members are actually just jerks in bad ties.  If you're going to shop here, know what you're doing.  I'd recommend Fry's if you have the option, however...their staff iin the computer department at least, is significantly better informed.

I have returned to Best Buy myself, but I'm happy to report that I spent better than 3 years getting my electronic needs met elsewhere before I did...

The salesperson, Jim, was EXCELLENT. He knew his product, was not pushy, and was efficient. I purchased a dishwasher and refrigerator. The refrigerator was back-ordered until 11/30, and the dishwasher was available in the warehouse, so delivery was set for 11/30. The company called on 11/29/10 and said that now the refrigerator could be delivered on 11/30/10, but that the dishwasher was now unavailable until 12/07/10. They said they would come on 11/30/10 between 7-9am to deliver the refrigerator. I arranged for our building loading dock and padded elevator. I got up at 6 am and emptied the contents of the refrigerator and freezer onto the back outside balcony. At 7:35 am the delivery company called to say that my refrigerator had not come down on the 5am truck, and thus, they would have to reschedule for 12/7/10. I asked how I could know that the same thing would not happen on 12/7/10. I was told that there was no way to know...that it absolutely could happen again. The system at the warehouse is that delivery is not scheduled before the item arrives there. Apparently, if you have two items, they will give one of yours away while you wait for the second. Then, once the delivery is set up for a 2-hour window, there is still no guarantee that they will provide the item. This type of delivery system is ridiculous and not worth it. The delivery company is not at fault because they are a middle man. I will try the same two appliances at Sears for the same price.

Best Buy had a good selection and professional sales crew. Their "Geek Squad" could answer all questions I had. The only reason I gave them a "D" on responsiveness and punctuality, was that the system had to be programed and was promised in 1 @ 1/2 hours. I went back to pick it up, and they had not started it, so I had to go back 2 hours later.

The sales experience with them has been excellent and their customer service is awesome. Their prices matched that of Fry s Electronics and that was great. I have bought several things from them. They always have pleasant people there, and if they cannot answer your question, they will go and find someone who can. I would go to Best Buy if I have to buy a computer in the future.

This company did not do what was asked of them which was to repair the adapter plug. This repair was under an extended warrant which we bought when we purchase the laptop. The warrant clearly states that if the laptop is sent in for more than 3 repairs that the laptop would be replaced. This computer was sent in 5 times for repair with written instructions to junk the computer and replace with new laptop. On two different occasions the computer was sent back with nothing being done. We were without a computer for over 35 days the last go round. The warranty is now out of date and the laptop was still not fixed. They said it is now not their problem as it is no longer under warranty. The warranty expired while still in their possession. This co is extremely unethical in there dealings with customers and I believe they intentionally did not fix the laptop since it would be a chargeable repair. They owe me a laptop but they will not follow through. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

GEEK SQUAD MEMBER CAME TO SET UP OUR HOME NETWORK. INITIALLY IT WORKED FINE. BUT THEN WE HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH NOT PRINTING FROM OUR LAPTOP. I CALLED, THE SAME AGENT CAME OUT AND FIXED IT QUICKLY AND EXPLAINED WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS.

EXCELLENT WORK, QUICKLY PERFORMED AND SEEMINGLY WELL DONE. I HAVE USED THE COMPUTER SEVERAL TIMES, USED ALL THE FUNCTIONS AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY TROUBLE. THEY ALSO DID SOME EXTRA LITTLE THINGS AT NO CHARGE AND ALL WORK WAS DONE AHEAD OF TIME.
