"Unfortunately you cant please some people. We bid this job the previous year it was supposed to start in may of 2017 but was delayed to the end of July because of funding issues. This project started off with the Saechaos making some significant structural changes to the floor system. The engineer they hired was slow to respond and took almost 6 weeks to provide engineering to satisfy the county inspector delaying the project . The engineering was so bad the county contacted the engineer and put a stop work notice on the project until things were cleared up. Beams ment to hold up the second floor were missing in the plans or were miss labeled as dimensional lumber where beams were supposed to be. Later I found out from the homeowners that the engineer was the low bid by almost 5k and had never visited the home to review the conditions . Things were so bad when I'd call the engineer his assistant would answer and say "oh its you again that place hasnt burned down yet" very unprofessional. I also see the homeowner fails to mention we saved her family from burning in a house fire by identifying over loaded junction boxes in the attic and a 220v electric range that was wired direct and chared with bare wires inside the back of the range. A major electrocution hazard . All work admittedly done by family and friends of the homeowner previous to the addition. The final straw was the master shower we gave the homeowner a 6k bid to change the shower from fiberglass to tile and a bid to change the bath and utility room floors from linolium to tile previous to the install. They didn't like the price so the hired a unlicensed contractor to install tile. I came out on the weekend to find him cutting tile with a wet saw in the master bedroom and flooded it with water. At that point I contacted the contractors board to report him and my attorney wrote a cease and desist letter which they ignored we finally put a stop work order on the project. I could go on but I'll let you decide who the bad guy is"
"Thank you [Member Name Removed] it was a pleasure working with you. We look forward to working with you on future projects"
At first he was showing up and getting work done. Then, he got other jobs and his priority was the new and exciting job so we didn't see him for weeks at a time. His presence got further and further apart---and our stress got higher and higher. We thought we could have built a house in less time.
Get everything in writing that he says he will do for you since he lies so much he really doesn't know what he is saying to whom (in my opinion).
We have called and left messages. If he recognizes our number, he will not answer. Then in a few days, he comes to work then doesn't show up for a month or so. We made the mistake of telling him when we would be gone--then he never came. Once we were gone to Nebraska for a month--so he never came.
This is the start of the process. We are filing a claim against his contracting license and do plan to go to court if that is what it takes. We do owe some money to him but will not pay one cent till our home is acceptable.
UPDATE: After receiving papers from the contracting board, Mr. Bryant came and finished the work.
"This project started as a simple kitchen remodel and soon turned into a whole house rehab by the customer. Our completion time and scheduling was based on the original Kitchen remodel. The customer added to the scope of work on a daily bases and soon we into a complete rehab to include replacing the existing 40 sq roof as well as replacing many of the main support beams and decking because of massive dryrot. after getting the roof in order so the new work wouldn't be ruined we turned our attention to the interior of the home. The delays on the job were caused by the customer after waiting 6 weeks for the kitchen cabinetry to be delivered we assembled the cabinets per plan and had the countertop sub scheduled for that Monday. When the customer returned that day they decided the island need to be larger adding another 6 weeks plus the 2 to 3 week lead time for the countertops to be fabricated and installed. After taking the job as far as we could without the additional cabinetry I informed the customer we were going to pull of the job till the cabinets were delivered. We returned to the project within 2 days of the additional cabinetry coming in and installed them and continued to complete the job. I rescheduled the two sub contractors i used (Countertops and Electrical) to finish their part. The major portion of the work was completed by myself and my employees. The customer liked our work so much they tried to hire my employees behind my back to work weekends and eves and they still continued to sign change orders with me for work they were adding weekly. The customer was responsible for the plumbing, demo, and appliances and their installation. The plumbing was completed by the customer without the required permit while my company had open permits on the job. The Customer also provided my countertop sub with the wrong information on the type of range they had purchased they even signed the countertop plan with that info on it (I have copies ) When they went to install the range and it wasn't right they tried to blame me. Regardless I wanted a good referral so I paid my sub to come back out make repairs to make it right that added another 2 weeks to the project. Yes there were some small delays on my part but never more than a day or two and the only time their calls weren't answered was when i was driving or on another call dealing with their latest change. In the end we got it right their house looks great Ive taken care of any warranty issues I even set up a walk through with the cabinet rep at a year to make sure any warped doors or drawers get replaced. I provide the customer with a clear written scope of work for each contract they signed with me and completed each line item. The customer never filed with the construction contractors board that's easy to prove go to their website and check my c.c.b.# 96965 go to claim history you will find I've been in business for 18 years and have a clean c.c.b. record . The Angie's List rating should be changed from F to A I am going back to my client data base to email my clients and find out if any of them are Angie's List members to ask them for a more accurate review of my work. I felt I went out of my way for this customer to take care of their project. The same thing I do for all of my clients that's what they pay me for. Thanks Terry"
