Big Jim's Home Repair

Last year, my husband and I noticed that some of our wooden trims and siding were cracked and growing fungus. We reached out to a few contractors for quotes and consultation, and finally decided to go with Big Jim's Home Repair based on the great positive reviews. After contacting Jim, he came over to analyze the problem and provided a fair estimate for the repair. We decided to switch to fiber cement trims instead of treated wood trims. We also realized our siding wall really needed a fresh coat of paint as the existing paint looked dull after 9 years. Jim was able to schedule us in within a few weeks, despite being booked with other ongoing projects. Jim's crew always showed up on time and completed the project in one week. They painted a fresh coat beautifully, enhancing the overall look of our home. Jim always kept in touch with us throughout the whole process and answered any questions we had. We can't thank them enough for being meticulous, careful, and courteous. They cleaned up the mess, and our siding and new trims look excellent. The attention to detail and quality of work were outstanding. We have other projects in mind and will not hesitate to give Jim a call again in the future. Highly recommend Big Jim's Home Repair!

Needed some minor siding repair done, which most companies were unwilling to do (only would do a complete side, or the entire home). Jim was more than happy to accommodate my minor project, and work it into his schedule amongst his other projects. Was accommodating, and kept in constant contact with me, as to when the work would be done. Great experience, and will certainly look to rehire Jim for future projects!

We were right regarding rot - we had a mushroom sticking out above our 2nd story bedroom's window - and basically everything from the gable down had damage. We ended up having our southern-facing gable redone, plus expanded the scope of the siding replacement due to wider-than-expected water damage and to avoid an odd appearance of keeping just a few of the original sheets of siding on that part of the house. I can't say the job went without a hitch - this was an unexpectedly large job, and there were a few misses - but Jim was great about making sure all issues were addressed. I felt like prices were reasonable and fair, and with the way his team worked - even when the weather got fairly bad - I feel like his team definitely earned their keep. Summing it up, we were quite satisfied, and I would definitely consider hiring them again.

Great! They did a good job. It ended up costing a bit more than expected because they found other rotting boards that also needed to be replaced.

Jim answered the phone on the first call...what a concept that a contractor actually answers a phone call today in this outrageously busy industry!!! I was impressed. Super nice guy, Big Jim, who came out and gave me a bid to repair a fence with a fair amount of dry rot. I hired him. He removed bad boards, shored up the weaker ones, installed new where needed and repainted the entire fence. This made a soon to be going on the market house much more appealing to potential buyers.

Very well, quit professional, but very easy going, laid back & friendly which Ilked. Had to rebuild a closet to outside wall & smartly added an overhang to protect in future which added a more finished look, blended well with rest of house. Hung a special order storm door as well as front door & another storm door. Dug a french drain over 100 ft. and has held up more than 10 yrs. Worked on inside replacing toilets, faucets, a bathroom cabinet & painted the exterior of house and pain still looking great 10 yrs later, though Probably needing fresh coat. Extremely satisfied, good pricing, quality work. Repaired some fencing; drywall repair in ceiling

I hired Big Jim to do a couple of small jobs – clean the gutters and repair the gutters where they had come loose from the house in one spot, and also to add a threshold piece inside where carpeting had pulled away and left an exposed spike strip between hallway carpet and bathroom tile. He was able to fit me into his schedule quickly and I was pleased with the work he did. I had him give me estimates on a couple of larger projects I am considering and will definitely hire him again in the future.

He did a good job, though we had to reschedule several times mostly due to the weather not being good enough for outside painting.

Jim is extremely knowledgeable about fixing all types of problems as listed above. He provides expert advice on the best methodology and materials. He is efficient and thorough. Neither my husband nor I are handy so Jim is our "go to" guy because we know that repairs will be performed professionally, quickly, and efficiently.

We bought a light fixture that we wanted to install over a canned light. Bought a converter kit, but wasn't sure how it was all supposed to come together. We called Big Jim to install the light. He was booked, but said if he had time he would come between 12 and 2 the next day. Well, he called the next day and came as promised. He got the light fixture installed perfectly and charged a reasonable price. While he was at our house, he also gave us some preliminary quotes on other projects we needed to get done. I would call on him again, definitely.

Jim and his assistant were wonderful. They arrived on time and fixed the issue that other companies wouldn't touch because the house is clad in vinyl siding. They were also friendly and professional. We have other small repairs that we won't hesitate using them to help us with! Their only downside (but true of most good companies) is that they book up quickly so you have to wait a bit to get the work completed.
