Description of Work: Completely replaced roof on our 2100 sq ft home (with very high roof pitch). Description of Work: We are in the process of selling our home, and to get ready to put it on the market, we had an inspection performed. Unfortunately, the inspector found mold in our attic, and he also told us that some of sheathing on the insider of the roof was "soaking wet". We had several different roofing companies come by, and two of them gave us bids for complete tear off roof replacement. The individual who came by from Ability Plus to give us a bid was the only one of the three who actually got up on the roof and walked around. He said that our roof was structurally sound with no leaks, and he determined that our issue was with improper ventilation, instead. We got a bid from Ability Plus to (the following is quoted from their invoice) "remove the shingles & ridge cap from 50' of ridge on 3 levels, cut a continuous opening along both sides of 50' of ridge plywood. Installed 50' of Airvent 9" Shinglevent II and installed matching cap shingles. Covered up 7 existing exhaust vents to prevent a short circuit for the new ridge vent. Cut in and installed 8- 4x16" intake vents at soffits to allow proper air intake venting. Sprayed roof with 15 gallons of high concentration of moss kill. Removed all heavy moss clumps. Installed 10' of wall flashing where missing at rear bay roof. Replaced 3 defective soil pipe flashings. Installed 150' of 1x3 painted drip edge flashing to all guttered eaves" This ended up costing us $1,239 vs. the tearooms, which would have costed MUCH more. Ability Plus's crew was extremely professional, hard-working, courteous, etc. We couldn't be happier with the work that they did, especially given that our house is now in escrow, and the buyer's inspection was performed last week - noting a dry attic and no problems with the roof!

Description of Work: I called to get an estimate for repair of my cedar shingled roof. I received very quick and professional service and the guy actually did a small vent repair on the roof and only charged me $30.00. The cost of replacing the roof is just too much for me right now. Cedar shingle roofs are beautiful but very expensive to replace. I do not think that the owner was in any way pushing a hard sell. He gave me very specific and reasonable information about the life of the roof etc. Will probably revisit in a year or two because of the cost.

It was the next day, and I already had someone else coming, but I appreciated the follow-up. I was told it was a good thing I found somebody else because they were backed up until the next week. Very nice people.

+ -1 moreFirst, "Mike" put me off for 3 weeks. He was supposed to show up one of two days, and didn't show either day, didn't call either. I did not get a response until I called him. When he showed up, he charged me $250 to place a vent pipe. I learned later that he never reconnected the pipe. Also, the leaky roof wasn't from a leak around the pipe, but a leak the whole length of the peak of the roof. He never looked up when he was in my attic! When I called to get him to come back to repair the roof (I didn't know the real problem then) I didn't want him to put me off for another 3 weeks and told him I wanted him there the next day and that I didn't appreciate a bill that said I would be charged an add'l $25 if I paid late after 2 weeks (when he had put me off)! He told me he didn't "need this" and hung up on me. Two days later I got a voice msg stating he shredded the check and that I was too demanding, and he didn't want to work with me. I put a stop paymnt on the check, as well.
Description of Work: Supposedly, a new vent pipe was placed.

+ -1 moreThe weather was very bad. I called Mike on a Friday morning and he was inspecting the leak by that afternoon. Work started on Monday. It took a few days to diagnose the cause of the leak, but that's because we couldn't be sure of the source. Mike showed up when he said he was going to (this is a big deal!) and was able to perform all the work without me being home and taking time off work. They ended up replacing both the vent pipe and the skylight, which ended the leak.
Description of Work: We had a leak in our roof and weren't sure of the source. Mike came out, inspected the area, and recommended we replace the vent pipe over a bathroom as an initial troubleshooting idea, but also quoted me for replacing the nearby skylight. He suggested we try the less expensive solution first, which we did. When that didn't stop the leak, Mike came out and replaced the skylight for the original estimate.

Description of Work: Mike gave me a bid on time and at a lower cost than the other 3 recommended roofing contractors. He also promised to complete the job sooner than the other bidders. The bid included removing all wood shakes, clean up, and roofing the house with 30 year warranted shingles. The work was completed in 2 days with clean-up, including the gutters, done very professionally.

Bid was very reasonable for all the upgrades requested, and Mike was very helpful in my choosing of color and material for the roof without pushing me in any one direction... just provided straight information and some personal opinion when asked. On the day the job was to start, the large crew showed up on time and finished the entire job in just two days, including clean-up, and this roof had it's share of jogs, so it was not an easy task. It even rained on them the second day, but it didn't slow them down a bit. We were amazed at the speed and the results. The roof looks wonderful! Many compliments from the neighbors. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

THEY CAUSED US A LOT OF WORRY BY NOT SPEAKING WITH US OR RETURNING PHONE CALLS WHEN IT BEGAN RAINING DURING PROJECT ON A DAY WHEN NO ONE HAD SHOWN UP. THERE WAS NO TARP ON ROOF. WE HAD TO LEAVE TOWN WHILE PROJECT WAS INCOMPLETE FOR A TRIP. WHEN WE RETURNED, THE GUTTER WAS DENTED. THEY DENIED THEIR TRUCK MADE THE DENT IN OUR ABSENCE. "MUST HAVE BEEN SOMEONE ELSE" (WITH A TRUCK THE SAME HEIGHT AS YOURS...) I FOUND THEM TO BE A VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE FOR OUR FIRST HOMEOWNER'S PROJECT.
