A-1 Humane Wildlife Control set live traps and monitored them regularly. They answered all my questions and made suggestions for "critter-proofing" the crawl space so that future problems can be avoided. I would not hesitate in calling them again should the need arise.

Set a trap in a discrete area and showed us how to monitor it.  We called once the trap was tripped. They came out and removed the female and then went into the crawl space to remove the kits.  All done very professionally.

It went very well. Before they came, they told us about how much it would cost and what exactly they would be doing. This made it very easy to decide to pick them. He did a very thorough and excellent search for us and we were quite pleased.

He explained when he came to the house that he charged a flat fee of $158 that included the placing of traps, checking them every few days and removal of mole when it was caught.  If any additional moles showed up then it would be $79 per mole caught for the rest of the year.  I didn't know if I had moles or gophers and he explained the difference in their indications:  a small hill of loose dirt for moles (hence molehill) and just a hole without loose dirt (hence gopher hole).  I showed him the signs of loose dirt in the front and back yards and watches as he placed five traps.  He showed me how to tell if a trap was sprung and I went out every morning and evening to check them.  He came by every 3-5 days to check also.  Finally on the tenth day one of the traps was sprung.  I didn't notify him but he came by that day while I was at work and pulled up all the traps and took away the mole that was caught.  It has been 11 months and there have been no additional signs of a mole since then.  At first I felt the price was a bit high but doing further reaearch before choosing A-1 Humane Wildlife Control I found that most of the others charged about the same or some quite a bit more.  I feel I got what I paid for.

John and Delinda were helpful, courteous and professional from start to finish. They were very cooperative and communicative in setting a time to examine the property. Delinda wrote up a personalized contract that was clear and complete.
John did a careful walk-through and found more mole holes than I had noticed. He thoroughly described the process point by point and compared his methods and equipment to alternatives, explaining why he has chosen this route.  He assured me that animal death was instantaneous and offered to demonstrate how the mechanism worked. He set seven traps and flagged them. Then he described how he would clean up each hole and restore the site's appearance after work was complete.
When John returned several days after setting the traps, unfortunately no mole had been trapped. But on his second return, one mole was trapped. He removed the animal "invisibly" and explained why he believed this was the only mole on the property. He cleaned up all seven locations so you couldn't tell anything had been disturbed, including lawn, gravel and beds. John advised me to call immediately if I saw any further sign. Fortunately so far so good!
On our initial tour, John spotted  a damaged foundation vent cover and wedged a piece of crumpled paper in the gap. When he returned later and noted the paper was undisturbed (sign that no animals were beneath the house), he helped me block the entry until I could have it professionally repaired. He declined to accept payment for this extra work.
I have rarely received such patient, thorough, knowledgable, conscientious, accommodating, honest service. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

He set expectations when he would arrive and he arrived on time. He is very polite and personable. He shares his knowledge which is very reassuring that I hired an person with knowledge about catching critters. He set up the traps for racoons and checked them as he said he would. If I have more problems, I would hire him again.

I  have lived in an area for several years that is close to undeveloped land, so I have had a number of critters trying to move in over the years - gophers, skunks, raccoons, and now a possum.  John comes the same day or the next day after I call him.  He knows what he's doing - changing traps and baits as necessary to deal with the specific animal, if they don't get trapped on the first try.
It took a couple of tries, but John successfully trapped the opossum and then made sure that there were no others under the deck and closed off both holes.
John uses live traps, and I call first thing in the morning if a trap has been sprung and he comes out the same morning.  He and his wife DeLinda are delightful people and I highly recommend them.

The tech showed me some hair he found near the entrance and thought I had Raccoons moving in.  He did a thorough job and explained everything he did.  I haven't had a problem since.

In a panic I called A-1 Humane one evening after discovering three mole mounds in my backyard flowerbed--one within four feet of my new lawn. John Bergquam's wife, Delinda, who answers the telephone, was very understanding and sympathetic. She assured me that John would try to work me into his schedule the following day. As promised, he came the next day, and set up three traps. Within 24 hours, he caught the critter. Strong work, John! I couldn't have been more pleased with his excellent service and amazing skill.

He gave expert information about how to keep this from happening again. Checked my yard for possible entrances being used by critters. As I mentioned above, he trapped 3 'possums(huge) and one huge skunk. He talked with the people I had come to close the hole and suggested how to critter proof the porch area. I was very pleased and would recommend his service to anyone. The expense is due to the number of animals he ended up catching.

We were being plagued by animals that were tearing up our yard and vegetable garden. We didn't know at the time whether it was moles, voles, or gophers. Trapper John came out and spent time explaining to us what it was we were dealing with and how he planned to catch it/them. Initial set-up of traps and first catch was included in the initial price. Additional catches were for an additional fee. It was SO worth it. He caught the two moles quickly and efficiently and was quick to return to pick up traps and dispose of the moles. He was professional and a pleasure to do business with.

This is a family biz. Many animal removal companies don't do skunks, or serve my area. I called the number and talked to John's wife. John arrived when promised, set traps for both the moles and the skunks. There was only one mole and it was trapped the next day. I knew that a skunk had burrowed under my cement porch. It turned out there were 5. John used humane traps and if the trap sprung (I also have raccoons in my neighborhood) and nothing was trapped, I called and he came sometime the next day to reset. If there was a trapped animal, he always came first thing in the morning so the animal wouldn't be in the trap during the heat of the day. He monitored whether there were still skunks there and has continued to change the trap placement, type of trap and bait in order to get the skunks. The trap keeps the skunks from spraying and doesn't injure them. There is an initial set-up fee and per trapped animal charge. Nice folks and he's done a great job.

I have used John Bergquam on two occasions to eradicate mole problems. There is no set-up fee, and he only charges for each mole/gopher removed. His wife answers the telephone, is very courteous and sends him out promptly. In the spring he came three or four times to check his traps, never caught a mole and consequently, didn't charge me anything. Three months later I discovered six mounds of dirt in my lawn. He set three traps and caught one mole, which he removed. John perseveres until there are no further problems, and is very honest. I used other companies in the past that charged double. I highly recommend A-1 Humane.
