Meritel provides advice on your site preparation, and their office staff and technical staff are competent and very helpful. Meritel was very prompt to install and test their equipment once we were ready. The service has its limitations, but we are very happy to have it. Meritel claims that they provide 3 Mb service for downloads, and a higher burst speed for browsing. Our experience is that this might be too optimistic. Observed speeds for downloads range from slow dialup to solidly in DSL ranges. It is generally adequate for our Vonage IP phone connection, and there is only an occasional interruption of the streaming of a Netflix video. The reliability is excellent. The only small glitch (didn't affect service) was we purchased the radio and modem, and they forgot to come back and install the new equipment. This was easily corrected.

In the beginning they were the only company that would service area. This is no longer true and I am thinking about switching the service. They want me sign a contract and my cable company is now offering high speed internet.
