covered deck down to the back yard. Three large raised beds were constructed in the backyard also. Gravel pathways were built. The whole process took 21/2 months. The workers were always on time and polite and the owners returned calls promptly and answered our questions. This was a large lot to landscape with not a tree on it and it turned out beautifully. This company does not work cheap but produces great results.

I would only recommend Solid Ground to landscape your property if you let Seth put it in how he thinks it should be done.  I talked to a couple of his customers and saw what he did to theirs.  They were very positive and liked what he had done, but they had basically given him free rein on what to do.

I hired Seth in 2005 to do my yard. Seth told me that I would have his complete attention during the project.  However, he spent most of his  time on a different one and had someone else oversee mine.  Whenever I had questions, I had to wait until he had time to come over. 

I had a complete design done before I hired Seth but had trouble getting him to follow the design I wanted, mainly for trees, ground cover, and bushes. He was not very open to putting in things he didn't use all the time, and wouldn't listen to me if I had information he didn't.  The main problem this caused is that I asked him to put in some black-stem bamboo in a small section of the yard.  I told him it had to be contained so it wouldn't spread.  He said it didn't because it's a "bunching bamboo".  Now I have bamboo stalks coming up all over my yard and my neighbor's!

I also asked for flowering crabapples for the front yard - the kind with pink and white blossoms and light green leaves.  Instead I have a Chinese pistachio and a crabapple dark green/grey leaves.  I wanted a ground cover under an area of trees that could be walked on and he planted kinnickinick (I really don't like kinnickinick and have pulled it all up.  I have low grasses growing there now.

Also, I had several areas marked as "gardens".  I assumed, since he was planting in those areas that the soil would be worked and amended.  The crew just dug holes through the thin topsoil and the clay underneath.  I realized I should have been specific about this in the contract rather than assuming this would be done.

One of the magnolias he planted died a couple of years after the initial work (Seth only guarantees plants for1 year) so I called to have a new one put it.  He charged $485 for that one tree, and it died a  couple of years later too.

I was on a flat rate contract last year so it was $200 a month. This year I just started a time and material contract. I've only been billed for 2 months so far. They are a little bit expensive but they do good work. They are very competent. They have a very knowledgeable staff and they get the work done.

I heard about them through a real estate agency. I would give them absolutely a grade of all A's! This company is just phenomenal!
