Josh and Darren were amazing! I could not ask for more. Integrity, hard work, on time, awesome customer service, great craftsmanship, and most of all a beautiful deck that was built to last.

It was such a positive experience having JTR Construction build a beautiful deck and benches. The workmanship is exquisite and Josh is meticulous with detail and design. The benches have a unique design and all who see them, are extremely impressed with the them. Have received so many compliments, on both the deck and benches. Josh keeps you informed of the progress, all the way. He was right-on with timing and great to explain what would be taking place each day. Josh and his assistant, Darrin, work so well together. They are extremely professional, as well as both having a great sense of humor. A great combination, that is hard to find. Other reviews have said it was worth the wait for JTR, and it is true. I am not sure words adequately express what a great experience it has been, and how perfect everything turned-out. I feel very fortunate to have had JTR referred to me, as we are now enjoying an absolutely beautiful deck. A Huge Thank You, to Josh (JTR Construction)!

The best advice I got from Josh was to stay with quality new materials and not reuse any of the old construction materials or footings. Josh and Darin provided meticulous workmanship, we couldn't be happier! We had a 25 year old covered upper deck and lower patio built of wood that was at end of life. I received multiple bids, some were shockingly expensive. It is difficult to find contractors who will pay attention to proper flashing and repair around the house to keep water out of the framework. Josh doesn't cut corners. His bid was not the cheapest, but the best value. I did have to wait 5 months before he was free to work on our project. One feature that we added was TimberTech's "Dry Space". I'm very pleased with the outcome, we have a dry covered area for the BBQ and storage cabinet during Portland's long rainy winter season. And it doesn't look like corrugated roofing. I can recommend the Dry Space over the competition.

Josh and Darren did a terrific job rejuvenating our deck. They replaced our 20yr old cedar boards with composite boards and our cedar railing with facia-mounted cable railing as well as adding a rain shield under the deck to keep everything dry beneath. You could set your clock by them as they always started at or before 8:00AM. They left the site clean at the end of every workday. When Josh found some previously undiscovered structural issues we discussed what the fix should be and he got to work. The work was professional and highest quality. We'll likely be asking him back next budget cycle to attack the boardwalk leading to our front door.

JTR is experienced, professional, exacting and flexible with change. JTR provides advice and suggestions based on years of service, and accommodates customer ideas and desires which makes the finished project totally remarkable. Fair in price and well worth the wait, his work is 5*+! We emphatically recommend JTR for your deck project!

Very happy with Josh and our new deck, pricing and quality were fantastic. He even helped fix a few unexpected issues that were found during the tear down of the old porch. We will be hiring him to replace our back deck when he is available, he's worth the wait.

JTR construction replaced and widened an existing deck in record time and at a superb value. My review echoes the others on these review pages in underscoring the excellent work done by Josh and his fine associate, Darren. From start to finish, everything went well. At a bad time (covid) the work was done ideally, with me even adding minor aspects to the job that were handled seamlessly. From the minute I initially met Josh and sensed that he would be a splendid artisan, to the end of the project, I was happy that I had miraculously met such a fine worker (workers, plural, actually). The recommended deck material, Azek, is excellent; the craftsmanship in construction is likewise--deep footings, plus everything else that's needed for a deck to last forever. Lots of care taken with the house and door opening onto deck when an adjustment to doorsill was needed. Meticulous attention to detail, and of course the property was left in primo condition when the work was finished. And they worked in uncomfortable rain. The planter boxes made also as replacements for a bleak assortment are stunning, with beautiful tops to sit on, made from wood that they chose. I'm sure I was saved $ by other choice of materials they made. I was provided useful info about soil needed for the boxes (quantity and type). Working with Josh (& Darren) was like having the best brothers imaginable dealing with a project. I felt completely comfortable every step of the way knowing that work was being done to superior standards; clearly I know nothing about such type of construction. Needless to say, having such a fabulous job done during the covid crisis provided a huge emotional boost. Thanks to both men--and to Josh for building me a sieve for pulverizing lumpy dirt, a wonderful birthday present, exquisitely constructed. We were all sorry that the social distancing in process obviated the fun of hanging out with them during the 4 lively days at our place. Highest recommendations possible to JTR. Best kept secret in Portland metro area. We'll be telling everyone about them for sure.

Josh designed a privacy screen (with our input) that is custom, solid and gorgeous. Josh and his associate Darren, do all the work themselves and are very experienced. From the initial contact to completion, the communication was clear, no surprises.

We hired Josh (JTR) to replace an extensive existing deck with Azek decking and he did a fantastic job. He's knows this product well, which helped as the design was complex with many diagonal angles, a multitude of steps AND he had to work around an existing Timbertek railing system while keeping it in place and unharmed. He also replaced other "owner built" decking along the side of the house and really upgraded it with detailing that significantly brought home the difference a true professional can bring to the table. His pricing is quite reasonable, especially considering the years of experience he brings to the project.

Josh built our family the most beautiful deck out of English Walnut Azek and he did it at a cost that was unmatched by 4 other highly rated local portland deck companies. Literally 25% off the other bids! I would shake the hand of anyone who could build a more stable, precise, cleaner looking deck. He did not cut corners, dug deep footings and used a lot of cement, fully flashed the entire rim, replaced all my cedar siding and left me with minimal paint touch-up. He addressed all of my questions along the way. His communication was great the entire job. He and his crew were on time from start to finish and cleaned up the job site as if they were never here. I not a huge reviewer online, but Josh went over the top and we hope to enjoy this deck for many many years to come. Thank you Josh and team for your hard work!

We hired Josh and his company to build a deck for our home. He and his team did an amazing job. He gave us a very competitive quote, had great communication with us and did exactly what he said he would. He even added a step on the side of the deck because he thought it would be safer. Josh and his helper were excellent. They showed up in the pouring rain and worked for 4 weeks straight. They removed my old decking and hauled it up a steep hill and built a whole new beautiful deck. Josh is a perfectionist, and he really showed it on this deck project. After completion of the job, I didn't even find one piece of old materials or nails. They cleaned up the site each day and made sure the site was secure for my kids and pets. This deck project was 4 stories off the ground and Josh demonstrated a professional ability to work at this height. I would recommend Josh to anyone that wants to have their deck repaired or replaced. His work is perfect.
