I felt I was ripped off by Mike's. I had called to have an interior gas line removed and plugged. The first technician that came out said he did not have the plug and would have to come back, he didn't. They charged $109 for a diagnostic. After a while I called NW Natural to see if they could recommend someone, they sent me back to Mike's and said it would cost around $129, once I notified NW Natural I did get a quick response and another technician came out and did the work. Just got another bill from Mikes's for $180 for the work that should have been done the first time. It probably took them about 20 minutes to do the work and glad I got it done but feel I was way overcharged for it. I would not recommend them and will never use them again.

If I can help one person from my experience with Mike’s Heating and Air Conditioning, then this posting will have done some good. ~ 4 yrs ago we remodeled the entire house, including replacing our furnace, & added a heat pump. The workmanship was shotty at best in the materials they used, the back end of the house doesn’t get warm, they added another ceiling vent saying that would do the trick, nah. In September our heat pump went out after ~4yrs . Yeah, I called Mike’s & asked what it would cost to come out. They said “$90.00 to determine what is wrong with the unit.” They sent a “young” guy who said it could be the compressor, but I think it might be a switch. The switch comes in, it didn’t fix it, he says, it’s the compressor. And, you owe me $270 more, and it will be $2200 to replace the compressor. Annoyed I told them you stated it would be $90.00 I don’t think I should pay you $270 for nothing. I called a guy who works on my commercial refrig and asked him if he would come and look at it. He did, calls immediately within minutes and says the compressor is bad. He then tells me the unit and our heating system was undersized for the house. I ask what he wants for a compressor and he tells me to buy a better unit sized for the house. This is a guy I trust! Fair, experienced. The unit was $3,000, commercial grade, and we went with it. Wonderful guy, service, knows his stuff. Back to Mike’s, they send me an invoice for the $270 again, I tell them they told me $90 that I prepaid for them to come out. They say they will talk to the owner and call back. No call back….2 months past, assumed they agreed and took care of it, knowing they did crappy work, undersized my heating and AC unit. But, no, they send it to collections. I call them 3 times, they promise to get back to me, they don’t. The 4th time, they told me to talk to the collector. I did pay the bill, but I’m letting you all know that their work is horrible, their customer service worse, the gal at the residential desk rude, the commercial gal was nice, but I would never recommend them. It wasn’t that I couldn’t afford $270, it was the principal they told me it would be $90 to make the determination. Hoping to save you a bad experience. BTW, our furnace still doesn't heat our entire house. Undersized. Estimated cost below. I don't remember the exact invoice amount we paid in full.

Repair man came out and did get the furnace going again and said the filter was dirty and it's an old furnace which might need to be replaced and by the way the inducer motor needs to be replaced soon. New filters installed and the burner go out after reaching set temp. Repair man is gone. I call the repair man back on phone and he says I need to replace the inducer motor now...$500. I call Hendrix Heating and Air Conditioner to see if they can come out and take a look at my furnace and get a second opinion. In 5 minutes Hendrix determines the burners are clogged and dirty and need to be cleaned. After being cleaned the furnace is running great. I was not happy with Mike's. Seems like he just wanted to sell me a new furnace and missed the simple solution of cleaning the burner. Wasted $120 on Mike's but it could have been much worse.

The person who came out was professional and knowledgeable. He took down the information and said he would have to get parts. He left telling me they would get right back to me once they checked on the parts. I checked with Honeywell and they have a replacement part for what I need. I did not get a call back. One week later (without heat in the winter) I had to call them and they told me that "Mike decided your system is too old to repair." I asked to talk to a supervisor and was told there was no one to talk to. I asked if they could have someone call me and they said they would. I figured that while I waited for a call back so I can explain to a manager why I am not pleased with their response - I could put it into writing so other possible customers would know what they might be up against.

I do not know if they send the same people out every year (to do the service). There was no difference between the services provided each year. They come in, do it and they are out. The service takes, maybe, an hour at most. There was nothing they could do to improve their service.

We have a yearly contract where they change the filter and check the air conditioning and heating. We pay a yearly fee of about $120 and then they don't charge us. They come out yearly. They really are very careful. They check everything out and make sure everything is functioning correctly. Their price is fine and is about what everybody else charges. Their quality is very good. They are here pretty quickly. They are really good

I insisted on a price for the work done and was given a bill afterward the work was performed. This contradicted a later billing amount sent to me following a week after the work was performed. A call to the office was followed by a call back indicating that the owner said there was a mistake and the original charge was paid for. There are circumstances in which sometimes additional work needs to be performed but that should be disclosed in simple terms to the client. Then one can make a reasonable determination to continue the work performed. In this case I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say that a simple error had be made in calculating the charge for the work. In any event, I am happy with the work, have had Mike's do work for me before with which I was happy and would use their service again!

We called after hours as that is when our ac went down and the gentleman we spoke with on the phone was more than helpful. He stayed on the phone with us and walked us through troubleshooting. He was very helpful. My husband and I were very impressed that he was willing to stay on the phone with us as long as he did and help us that way.. We'd definitely call Mike's again.

The tech was very good. He was here the next business day - he took about 10 minutes to get the furnace going. He ordered a few parts, came back out when the parts were available, and got everything done quickly. He were very clean and professional.

We used Angie's List to select a couple heating and air conditioning contractors to bid on the installation of an air conditioner or heat pump. After review of the service to be provided and making sure we were comparing equal equipment for the job we elected to go with Mikes Heating and Air.Punctuality and professionalism was there from beginning to end. Denton who came to the house to collect the necessary information for preparing the bid outlined what they would do and why. We walked through the pros and cons of an air conditioner vs. a heat pump. When the bid came in, Denton and I had a follow up conversation regarding the equipment recommended. At the end of the conversation, I knew he had my best interest in mind basis the equipment specified...it was the right equipment for our needs. He went out of his way to make sure i didn't have any unanswered questions. The installers were very professional. They even corrected a couple minor issues that they discovered. These were not directly related to their project but none-the-less they saw that they possed a safety issue and should be fixed. These didn't end up as additional charges either. When the installation was complete they made sure that I understood how to set up and comfortably opperate the system. I would strongly recommend Mikes Heating and Air and should the need arise I would use them again.

The renter reported before Christmas that the heater had shut off. After the gas company checked the heating unit and reported it needed to be cleaned and checked I contacted Mike's and paid them to go service the heater. I gave them the renter's phone number to arrange the time that was convenient to her. It appears the renter's answering machine did not work and the renter was not home due to Christmas activities. Mike's Heating called me several times to let me know they were trying to contact her to arrange a service call, but could not get her answer her phone. Using other emergency numbers for the renter I got a message to her that her answering machine didn't work. She finally contacted them at her convenience and arranged for a date she could be there to let them in. According to the renter they arrived on time, did the job without incident, and the heater was now working properly. I feel that Mikes Heating was very professional and thoughtful to let me know they were having problems contacting the renter and were very tenacious in their quest fix the heating unit . I am very pleased with the way in which they handled it. I would use them again any time. I feel they did a very good job for a very fair price.
