T.J. showed up on time and performed a thorough A/C tuneup. He was very professional and made sure I understood what would be done and any extra pricing (freon) before the service was done. He found something wrong with my system that the other five companies had missed in the past years. He did not high pressure me for anything.

Gatlin came out quickly and finished within a day! They gave me a great price on a more efficient unit than other companies were offering. I am still amazed at how much lower my utility bills are now. I wish I would have called them sooner.

It went perfect, not a single issue. Had the part needed on his truck. Extremely pleased, Will use again. Liked it so much that I took out the yearly service plan on both units.

We called Gatlin Brothers on Saturday morning, 8/1, when we realized our air conditioner had thrown the breaker.  They said they would be able to come to our home before noon, which they did.  Our unit which had been installed in 2003 was not worth the expense to repair it and we decided to replace it instead.  It actually had been installed incorrectly in 2003 as we had often suspected.  The Gatlin installers were at our home on Monday morning before 8:30 am and when they left at 8 pm, the old Carrier unit was out of the closet (and taken away), the new Lennox unit was installed in the attic, one new return had been added, the unit was charged and cooling our home.  Later in the evening the installer even called to make sure the unit was working correctly.  We feel so fortunate to have found Gatlin Brothers.  Certainly the extreme from the installation/service we received in 2003.  We could not be happier and  highly recommend them. They know their product and they're professional.  It's refreshing.

Everything was done perfectly. It was discovered that we did not any insulation in on part of the house. They took care of that for us. We were introduced to Heritage Electric, we will use them from now on as well.

My outside AC unit stop working Saturday night. I called Gatlin Brothers about 2:40 pm Sunday and they said they would be right out. And showed up about 1/2 hour later. Which suprised me! AJ the technician tests the outside unit capacitor first and says its bad. He asks if I wanted him to replace it and I say yes. So he does and that fixes the problem. I ask that he check the freon (which he was going to do anyway) and it was fairly low. It took 3 pounds to fill up. I hate to admit it but I hadn't had the unit serviced in at least 4 years. AJ was here about 1 hour and recommened that I get a system check at least once a year. Overall I was very happy the way things went and would call Gatlin Brothers again!

On a Friday afternoon while we were out of town, our kids called to say the air conditioner wasn't working. The temps were in the high 90's and 100's. We had used Gatlin brothers the summer before when we had problems with our air conditioning so we called to see if they could take a look at it. They had someone out that night but couldn't keep the system running. They would have to order a part Monday but offered to bring buy a portable air unit Saturday morning to use till they could get us back up and going. Monday after pricing the parts and looking at how old the system was we decied it would be best to replace the whole system. Gatlin brothers worked with us to give us the best price. The system was put in later that week. They were on time or called if they were running behind and did a great job.

Our existing A/C was leaking water out of the overflow drain into our garage and learned that the pan in the coil system was rusted out. It would have cost approx. $1500 to fix the problem versus replacing our 14 year old unit. We contacted Gatlin Brothers, referred to me from my sister, for an estimate to replace our A/C unit along with 3 other companies. Gatlin Brothers owner TJ told us that our existing unit was 1/2 ton smaller than what our house sq footage actually needed, (builders will install the smallest unit to pass inspection in most cases). He also told us the 2 return ducts we have were 12" instead of 14" that is necessary for the unit to work properly. TJ gave us an estimate for a brand new 4 ton unit with replacing the two ducts at $5000 after a $1500 rebate with Lennox. The other 3 estimates we received were $2500 more (cheapest) with a rebate of $600 already deducted. In the end, our job was scheduled 4 days after we gave Gatlin Brothers the ok and they completed in under 5 hours. We had a problem with the new thermostat that was installed not working properly and TJ replaced it with a different and better new one a few hours later. He noted they had received a batch of bad ones. Either way, we were very pleased with the cost and the professionalism and care of the owner and their employees. We would highly recommend Gatlin Brothers to anyone!

Gatlin Brothers arrived prompt on Saturday morning to inspect the equipment. He did the system tune-up and added freon for a total of $49.00.
He gave his evaluation of the equipment and we discussed options for future work. He was not pushy and kept the experience factual.
I look forward to having Gatlin Brothers do work for me in the future if needed.

Let me start by saying I am an engineer and very picky about workmanship, equipment, and services performed. We recently bought a house and asked TJ Gatlin to do an inspection of the heat and air system. He discovered an existing condensation leak from the evaporator coil which if left unrepaired would have damaged the ground plenum to the point of having to do a system flip. A system flip is converting from ducts in the foundation to the attic (a very expensive endeavor). He discussed repair options and the associated cost, and we determined going with a new system would be more cost effective than repairing the existing equipment. He carefully explained our options for brand choice, and we made a decision on his experience with reliability, parts availability, and the manufacturer's track record with responding to equipment failures. We chose a high-end Lennox two stage gas furnace and a Solar Ready 4 ton Signature XC 17 air conditioner. He installed a 5 ton evaporator coil which brought the SEER rating up to about 19. The high end Lennox XC 17 unit came with a $700 rebate instead of a $200 rebate for the medium grade unit. That allowed us to upgrade to the higher end unit for only a few hundred dollars more. We got a home improvement loan to pay for the unit and installation. ONE VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: T.J. Gatlin only passes on the increase in cost of upgraded equipment that the manufacturer charges. He does not pad the cost of upgraded equipment like most heating and air companies in our area. He informed me that the installation of a premium unit does not require any additional work over a medium or lower grade unit. Therefore, he cannot in good conscious upcharge people for upgrading equipment. Other quotes to install this same equipment were over $10,000. They arrived on time, 9:00AM Monday and were finished by 5:00PM that afternoon. The quality of the work performed by GATLIN BROTHERS HEAT AND AIR was top notch. These guys are very humble and respectful. They do quality work at very competitive prices but will not reduce quality of their work to reduce price. They care about their reputation and about the people they do work for.

Another heating and cooling repair company came to the house on Thursday July 19, 2012. The technician put 4 lbs of freon into the system at $70 per pound plus a service call fee. He did not check for leaks and shortly after he left, the freon all leaked out through a massive hole in a copper line located in the attic. We had to get a hotel room for a second night.
Gatlin Brothers Heat and Air was called and T.J. Gatlin came out the next morning to do the repairs correctly. He walked me through the repair process and charged $40 per pound of freon. He also repaired a secondary minor leak at the outside unit the first repair company should have found.
T.J charged the system with nitrogen to find leaks before putting expensive freon into the system. He then located a major leak in the attic caused by a roofing job two days earlier. He also found a minor leak at the outside unit that the previous company should have found. He repaired the major and minor leaks and pulled a vacuum on the system. Next, he charged the system with freon and the sytem took almost 10 lbs of freon. I was there while he performed the work and witnessed everything he did.
I learned that Gatlin Brothers is a family run business in which the owners themselves perform most of the work. I found T.J Gatlin to be very humble and patient with me as I demanded to understand every aspect of the repair he performed. He charged $30 less per pound for freon than his competitor. I understand they offer an affordable service package in which they do preventative maintenance on the system twice a year, spring and fall. We have just bought a house and will be using them to perform these services. He also informed me that he can offer much better prices on services and equipment than his competitors because of the low overhead his family business has.
