Interior Painting
We got a good price, but you get what you pay for. In the end, it just wasn't worth the brain damage and irritation factor.
Here were the primary issues:
1. Lack of punctuality (show up when you say you will show up)
2. Lack of general care with our home: (a) broke off both of our door jams in the kitchen; (b) left a brand new step stool covered with paint - we had not given them permission to use it in the first place; (c) did not use a system to keep track of hardware removed in the painint process - for example they lost various pieces of hardware including a lock cover; (d) put door knobs back on backwards; (e) overfilled our trash can with their trash rather than hauling it all away; (f) sloppy painting when small things were not taped, e.g. painted all over the sides of an alarm motion detector that was untaped
3. Failure to follow instructions and lack of oversite by Juan of his crew: (a) after being told multiple times to please remove all of the door knobs before painting, we observed the crew taping up the door knobs and preparing to paint around them; (b) failure to caulk seams after being asked to do so (they just painted over them, and of course now the paint has cracked and fallen away, resulting in our hiring a new painter to repair the seams)
4. Issues with quality: (a) we had to go around the house and point out the places where paint from one area was bleeding into the others; (b) the issue I mentioned above with failure to caulk the cracks; (c) obvious failure by Juan to inspect his crew's work
5. Failure to return and fix the problem with the uncaulked seams which emerged about a month after the original work. I even sent him pictures to show the issue. Juan said he would come and fix it, but then failed to return multiple phone calls and text messages. We eventually hired someone else to fix the issue.
