When I visited their office the first time all the displays
were perfect. No cracks in the counter tops no gaps or bad ends on the pencils
and no backsplash tiles that were cracked or missing large sections at the
corners. The mortar was nicely installed
between the backsplash and counter tops. Ginger and Jeremy were friendly and
helpful
They came out to my house did measurements quoted me a price
which I agreed to. They told me it would take two days. One day to set the
counter tops and one day to set the backsplash. Also said it would be three
weeks before you could start. No problem.
On the first day their people were supposed to be there
first thing in the morning but finally showed up around 1 pm and stayed until
round 10 pm. They unhooked all my plumbing for the counter tops in both
bathrooms and kitchens. For some reason the plumber couldn't make it and since
I did not have any shut off valves for one of the bathrooms we had to leave the
water turned off all night until late the next day when he showed up. I had
previously purchased shut for valves for him to install although they were the
wrong size. Had he been there when he was supposed to be I could have run over
to Lowe's and bought the right valves. I had to stay somewhere else that night.
Now when their people left the first day they took the water
lines for the faucets with them. These were good lines and not the old cheap
ones. I also found my new sink faucet lying in the driveway. The faucet skirt
was damaged as was the lift rod Also the next day the plumber couldn't find
most of the plumbing pipes for under the sinks.
The plumber showed up late the next after noon. He stayed
until almost 10 pm. He didn't have any supplies and no car. He didn't have any
transportation and had his son deliver him and pick him up. I had to loan him
my truck so he could go to Lowe's to get the supplies he needed. I paid for
those supplies as well as for two new shut off vales and I paid him $100.00 to
install the shut off valves.
When he left I noticed the plumbing under the small bathroom
was poorly installed and it was due to the fact he had cut one of the pipes too
short. Also the water line was leaking
and he had not installed the new mechanical drain control mechanism. He had
just installed the old piece the stopper inserts into in my new sink. It looked
tacky. I couldn't get the drain control to work in the hall bathroom it was
stuck and due to the one inch clearance between the lift rod handle and the back
splash I couldn't get a grip in the handle. I fixed the water line so as to not
damage the cabinet shelf.
When I was putting a sealer on my tile in the small bathroom
I noticed one tile was cracked and one tile had been installed with a large
piece of the corner missing. Since there was a lot of extra tile why didn't
these tiles get replaced at the time they were being installed? Where the
pencils come together on the north side they are not precise and look like
something I would have done. Not something a professional tile person would
have done. Also the mortar has cracked where the back splash meets the counter
top.
Again in the hall bathroom I have the same problem with the
pencil trim and the cracked mortar.
Since all this has started I have inspection ten homes with
granite counter tops in the bathrooms and kitchen. All the counter tops extend
one and one half inches beyond the cabinets and only in one did I find cracked
mortar between the backsplash and counter top.
My hall bathroom extends 3/16th of an inch not one and a
half inches. Even if we take into
consideration that a ¾ inch skirt was added it still should extend ¾ of an
inch. Everyone wants to blame the cabinets. Proper measurements should have
been taken to take into account any issues like that and the skirt addition and
adjustments should have been made. They had to leave a gap between the wall and
the north skirt in order to meet the front skirt. This is after they had to
come back out the second time to fix an even worse problem from the first time.
I won't even go into the issue of the wood used to construct the counter top
extension.
The crack in the kitchen counter was unacceptable and they finally
did replace that counter. However they damaged the newly painted wall, knocked
two pieces of tile loose, shorted one pencil so that now it has to be replaced,
knocked one pencil loose, left a large gap under one piece of back splash, did
not seal around the back splash where it meets the counter top and left my cook
top disconnected. They left my kitchen
floor covered with mortar from the first installation. When they took the counter top off they
damaged my sink. I saw it when they were putting it back on. They overheated it
when they were softening the glue for the counter top. There is a large area of
the black coating missing which probably was the result of the blow torch being
used in a tight area between the wall and the back of the sink. This voids any
warranty that comes with this sink. The one pencil they knocked loose has since
come off.
They said they though the crack was caused by the tile
people putting the tile box on top of the countertop. If that was true then that means the counter
top was not properly supported at the west end. That would be the counter top
installers fault if he left a gap because even if the tile people didn't break
it then later on I would probably have set something heavy there which would
have broken it.
When I think about it I think it was broken during cutting.
The reason I think this is that the inside lip that the sink cut out was rough
where the crack was for about two inches and the underside of the counter top
had a heavy rough area where the crack ended. This would indicate the crack had
been repaired at the shop hoping it would hold.
Another thing is that my kitchen was left in a mess. There
was residue for where they ground down the counter top all over my appliances
and counters and the kitchen floor still has mortar all over it. Nothing was
cleaned up. I don't recall when we talked them saying my job would be left in a
mess and that it was my responsibility to clean up after you contractors. When
I questioned them about it they told me the installers always left a mess but
the people who installed the back splash normally cleaned it up. Well that
didn't' happen.
Ginger sent me an email and inferred that they went beyond and above what
was required because they had paid for
new materials, paid people to came back to repair their mistakes and paid a
plumber to come out to repair a sloppy plumbing job performed by another
plumber they had hired. And that they had every intention to their tile people
out whenever they had some spare time.
I entered into an agreement with them to install my
countertops in a timely manner not when ever they had spare time. They gave me
a time line of two days when I signed my agreement and I paid them 60% of the
cost up front. It is going on two months and the job is still not finished. I
don't reca
Anyone thinking about using this man needs to check the criminal records in Tulsa and see that he is a felon. He has served time and has several hot checks. I am at the bottom of the list, so I have yet to receive any money back because so many people have sued him I lost about $15,000.
He is well known at the Tulsa court house. Is he the type of man you would want to hire? I don't think so. He is a smooth talker and nothing he told me was the truth. He has ruined my life.
In less than one month our kitchen has been transformed form a mid 70's look to a beautiful designer show home. All the installers, sub-contractors and workers that Mr. Victory used were first class and very professional. None of them seemed to be in a hurry and took their time to make sure the job was well done. Mr. Victory was there both days of the install to check on the work and make sure everything went as we expected.
I couldn't be happier with the final results. I have the beautiful kitchen that I never thought I could afford. Victory Stoneworks made my dreams come true. This was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend them to you.
I signed a contract on 4/2/13. It was supposed to be installed on 4/15/13. I wrote a check on 4/5/13 for $12,169.00 that was cashed on 4/8/13.Since that time I can't get them to return a phone call or do any of the work. He completely ignored the letters from my lawyer.
We went to the granite company to check and he has not even paid one penny on any of the supplies. And our granite was there, available and waiting.
My wife went there to talk to them and they said that we can go ahead and sue them and we won't get any money. He then told her to send me to the office and he'll put me in ICU just like he did another man.
In my opinion, there are a number of very qualified businesses in the Tulsa area that install granite.
You are taking a bad chance if you select Victory Stoneworks based on our experience.
Most of the granite still needed fabricating so a makeshift granite shop was set up on my driveway. The cut out for the stove was done in the house causing the entire house to be covered in granite dust! It was a disaster the following day. Early in the install, Jeremy realized he didn't have shims nor the drywall for the backsplashes so I volunteered to make a trip to the hardware store to get what he needed. By the end of the installation, everyone was exhausted included my entire family that was up all night also! I think this exhaustion contributed to some of the issues that were discovered the next day.
The next morning, I noticed that a couple of end pieces in the guest bathroom were not anchored nor buffed. I contacted Jeremy and he provided two pieces but they were from another slab so they didn't match at all. I ended up taking the original pieces to a local granite shop and had them buffed and installed them myself. Most dissappointing was the fact that some of my granite was sprayed with a type of clear coat versus buffing so I am REALLY not pleased with that.
During the demolition, the countertop in one of the bathrooms was lifted out yet they had not disconnected the plumbing so the drain broke by the wall leaving no room to repair later (I ended up having a plumber come out to finish the plumbing). Bondo was used as an adhesive to mount the sinks in the bathrooms and it was placed right where I needed to install the faucets so I had to get a hand grinder and make a huge mess to remove this stuff so I would have room for the faucet connections. Additionally, no sealant was used anywhere, so I again had to do this myself later.
Bottom line, you'll save some money with Victory Stoneworks, but you'll get what you pay for so if you use them make sure you keep a close eye on the installation and do a thorough walk through when it is complete.
**Update 8/5/12** Mr. Victory contacted me after viewing this report. He offered to reimburse for the plumbing and he explained that the long distance from his shop was the main problem which I also agree was not a good idea especially when follow up issues need to be resolved. The facts above are unchanged, but I believe Mr. Victory will attempt to keep this from happening in the future.
