This kitchen remodel was 11' x 11'. Rand B CONTRACTING said it would be a 21 day project but it turned into an 8 weeks.
Tear out of kitchen went fine, until I noticed that my stained glass back door was scratched and dented! They did fix this.
While installing upper cabinets the one next to the vent over the oven was installed upside down, which made the finished edge next to the other cabinet and the unfinished edge showing. They fixed this with a piece of wood, almost looks the same. When the upper corner cabinet was installed it was pushed back to where you could only see one side of the decorative edge. When the bottom corner cabinet under the bar was installed they pushed it so hard against the loadbearing wall that it buckled the sheetrock. They fixed it to where it is not as noticeable. All of the other cabinets were put in place just fine.
The electrical work was done to perfection.
When the sub-contractor sprayed stain on the cabinets some of the stain was light to where other cabinets were dark. The sub-contractor had to come back 3 times, and still there was raw wood showing under the upper cabinets. On the inside of several cabinets had so much stain that it ran down the sides. He also stained the drawer of the cabinet I was to take back so that nulled and voided that cabinet being returned.
On the original bid it stated and quot;Provide and Install tumbled marble backsplash around kitchen area.and quot; I had to purchase 5 bags of grout, and it didn't state that in the bid. The sub-contractor did a great job on the tile.
The kitchen appliances (I purchased) in the bid he was to install them. When it came to the install of the refrigerator, his guys used a painters tarp instead of a dolly and scratched the whole side of the refrigerator. When this was brought to Rand B's attention, he told us that he installed it out of the goodness of his heart, even though it was in his bid, he didn't consider the refrigerator as an appliance! He ended up giving us credit for another one. At this time my husband told him that he was finished with this remodel, it was taking to much time and to many things were getting messed up!
The communication between this contractor and I was not what I expected, I think he found out that some women do know what they are talking about. But at the end of his part of the remodel and several conversations Rand B CONTRACTING did give us credit for everything, and made it right on his part.
My husband had to sand and re-stain several of the cabinets on the inside. Stain the bottom part of the upper cabinets. He also had to sand the countertops before he was able to put the formica on them. Fixed the nails that was shot thru the cabinets. And we finished the remodel ourselves.
