"In response to this review. [member name removed] has /had never been involved in anything to do with her fathers roof /porch repairs. We have never spoken or met in person except for phone call about 3 weeks ago. When her father initially contacted us in March, he had stated a tree had fallen on his porch and he needed assistance. I met with her father , inspected damage, and offered to prepare for him an insurance report and estimate to assist him in making sure the adjuster addressed and paid for all his damages. He thanked me and agreed. I then prepared a report for him showing how all damages should be addressed by insurance adjuster and delivered it to him. He then dealt with the adjuster on his own and settled his claim (I presume). He then contacted me and asked for an actual proposal from me for the work he wanted done including: roof repair, deck repair, fence repair, porch rafter repair. I prepared his estimate and he signed it and we began work. Upon preparing to repair/replace porch rafters, he came out and wanted to make sure we were going to "sister" new rafters to the old ones as this would make them stronger and was the "proper" repair since the rafters were tied in to the eaves and not part of the dwelling rafters. We agreed. Upon removing the portion of shingles at the transition to add Ice and Water Shield, we realized the decking over the porch was not as damaged as we anticipated. I explained this to him and he stated that was ok, but since we didn't need to replace as much decking, could we re-stain his porch beams, ceiling, and louvers instead with a high quality cedar stain? We agreed to do this for no adjustment to his price since we were not going to need as much decking as anticipated. He also asked if we could add gutter screen to his rear gutters, we agreed at no charge. Upon completion of his work he stated he was "very happy" with the results and issued us a check immediately. Now, months later we are contacted by his daughter, [member name removed] complaining of the work we didn't do on his insurance report (which was not the work we agreed on anyway) wanting us to refund money etc. We completed all work on the agreed upon contract except for the quantity of decking. In lieu of less decking, at his request, we added gutter screens and staining for the entire rear porch. We have no reason to believe that the actual customer, who wrote us a check, issued payment, and inspected and approved the repairs and how we completed them, was completely satisfied. To have a complaint issued on Angies list by his daughter, after her father has passed, 4-5 months later, is simply questionable at best as to motives, concerns, and wishes. We have no choice other than to believe that based on his appreciation, timely payment, and genuine appreciation, he was a satisfied customer. We are genuinely sorry to hear about his passing."
