Ken Ackley Craftsmen

Ken and his crew completely spoiled me by the quality of their work, their professionalism and their work ethic.  I paid these guys an hourly wage, and I acted as my own general contractor, working directley with the subs (electrician, plumber, air conditioning contractor, floor refinisher, etc.).   Ken did not mark up materials, and we got them at his discounted price.  This project took 5 months to complete.

Ken would discuss the day's work with me each day, and get his men "lined out" on what was to be done.  The men showed up at 8am on the dot every day, worked straight through except for a 30 minute lunch break, and were cleaning up and leaving by 4:30 every evening.  It seemed like there was nothing that they could not do - demolition, framing, floor repair, tile work, drywall, painting, cabinet finish carpentry, simple plumbing, handyman work, everything.  The attention to detail and workmanship was excellent.  I began to judge the work of my other subcontractors by the standards that I came to expect from Ken and his crew, and I found the others falling short almost every time. 

I had a core crew of 3 to 5 guys working at my place every day, but Ken could call in additional help if needed, and I had up to 7 guys working on the same day at times.   Bud is an excellent painter.  Kevin is a gifted finish carpenter - he modified an antique reproduction dresser into a bathroom vanity, and built a cabinet with an illuminated onyx top for the master bath that is just beautiful.  Tino is a very fine craftsman, who seems to be able to do any kind of renovation work - carpentry, tile, floors, plumbing - you name it.

Ken has a great wealth of experience and he is a great problem-solver.  This was important because when you undertake a renovation of an old building like this one, you will find unexpected problems.  We worked through every one of these, and the end result is fantastic!

Ken really seems to enjoy educating you about what is going on, and he also really seeks your input.  You really feel like an important collaborator in the project.  He will do whatever you want, but he will also make suggestions if he thinks you are asking for something impractical, or if he sees a better way to do it.

I'm really glad that I went with Ken and his crew for this project.  I will definitely use them again for smaller jobs.  I have a couple of friends who have used him in the past, and they relate a similarly excellent experience.

Perfect. He made and installed kitchen cabinets that are as beautiful today as when he made and installed them.
You should use him if you have a project. He is unassuming but don't let that fool you! He will do a really good job.

He was absolutely wonderful and went above his work.  Overall, it went perfect.  He is a perfectionist.  He is very detail oriented and absolutely perfect.  He is wonderful at his job.  He talks to me and walks me through the whole stuff.  He is very knowledgeable.  He will go out of his way to do extra things.  My mom hired him too.

Very pleasant and he repaired the shower. Only issue is he came to see the problem and during that visit merely screwed on (without the use of tools) a shower attachment. Took all of 60 seconds. He charged me for two service calls. He could have done both procedures the second visit. He did not say he charged for an estimate or to access the problem.

This remodel went so incredibly smoothly that it made me see that such a project could take place and not produce strain or drama within the household or with the contractor, which seems to be rather the norm. I give complete credit for this to Ken who is a real problem solver and works respectfully with his employees and clients.

They were very timely and pretty conscientious. I will highly recommend them. The price was reasonable to me. I didn't shop around this time, but I had used them earlier in March, and they were pretty reasonable compared to the other bids I got. I will use them again in the future.

Excellent on the exterior! Awesome price and awesome result. Interior did a ton of work in a timely manner and really changed to face of the house completely.

Overall, it was a great experience! This was my first time working with a handyman, so I was unsure of what to expect. Ken and his crew are incredibly friendly and approachable. They performed exceptionally, and you cannot tell that there was any damage to the wall/ceiling. They always arrived as scheduled and were finished with the project within the estimated time period. I have nothing but good things to say about this experience, and, in fact, I have asked him to work on some other projects.

I was very impressed with the professionalism and the quality of the work done. These guys don't take breaks! I mention that because I have had other workers who seemed to work for five minutes and then take a ten minute break. Ken's workers just work. They clean up after themselves and they are very prompt. Ken has a number of workers. The two who worked for me both spoke Spanish. I had no problem with that since I also speak Spanish. I haven't moved into my Tulsa house yet so I had to leave them a key and I had no problems doing that. I plan to hire them again for some larger projects after my move.

Ken came out and gave me an estimate. His guy showed up on time, never left a mess, repaire the damage and did a great job!

Mr. Ackley and his crew were very dependable. They showed up for work promptly as scheduled. They were careful in their work. The job was completed in a timely fashion. Mr. Ackley and his crew are excellent craftsmen. The workmen were courteous and very skilled. We are very pleased with the quality of their work. They were easy and pleasant to work with. We felt that the price for the job was very reasonable. We are very pleased with the entire experience.

It went very well. Ken and his crew are always on time. I have never arrived home unannounced to find any of his crew not working. They are always on the job. I have used Ken for several big jobs and he has never failed to please me. I have recommended this contractor highly to several people and to my knowledge they have all been happy with his work. This was a multi-faceted project and it went well. Ken and his crew are fast and efficient workers. This is the second major "home improvement" project Ken has done for us and I know when I call him it will be a job well done. I started out talking with Ken about what we wanted done. Actually, I called him over to give us an estimate on building us a new garage. He told me he could revive our existing garage, which was hard to believe, but he gave me the address of a similar project in progress, I went and looked at it and saw it was possible. Basically, I just explain what I want done where and he does it. There were things that got added like the skylights and I love the natural light it brings into the garage for working in there. I have known Ken for over 25 years and know I can rely on his integrity and valuing of craftsmanship and aesthetics in the work he does with the help of his friendly crew.
