Hoover, Dr. Ruth A

From the time I made my appointment on the phone, until I walked out of the office everyone was very friendly and helpful. I don't think I waited 5 min. before I was taken back to the examine room, and not that long before Dr. Hoover came in. I imagine Dr. Hoover would be great to have as a Dr. when you are having a baby.  She sure is to an older woman.  I will tell everyone how great she is.

The staff was professional, but human - not stiff.  The nurse immediately gave me her name. 
The doctor was soft spoken, didn't scold me too much for not doing my yearlies for over 4 years and wasn't overbearing.  She wasn't overly chatty, but listened well to what I was saying and interacted with me, instead of lecturing me. I was pleasantly surprised.
She seemed knowledgeable about what I needed to know and agreed with my self-treatment.
She thanked me for coming and said it was nice to meet me.  A pleasant and friendly doctor.

I had horrible menopausal problems and symtoms. Doctor after doctor just did not offer any kind of resolution. Their answer was that I "just had to live with the symtoms" or begin an extensive hormone replacement therapy. This was NOT what I wanted and chose to continue searching for a doctor who could offer some suggestion to relieve the worst problems...depth perception issues, itching, mental confusion, etc. Dr. Hoover listened, suggested minor hormonal medication and minor lifestyle changes. She was sympathetic and professional. My medical issues were resolved in less thasn sis weeks.

Went well-normal. Actually had an intern with her (I was asked ahead if I minded). Dr Hoover suggested I get another bone scan as I was diagnosed with osteo-pennia - precursor to osteoporosis a few years ago - so I did. Improvement in bone density. She made sure I understood how much/how often to take the calcium w/D.

She is very thorough. She takes time for what you need done. She makes sure that her patients get the attention they need. She is really good at answering questions.

It took me six weeks to get an appointment. Before, it seemed to take less time to get in. So now I know to call earlier.
